    Hi Susan, I read you message tha you were posting soon. So happy to watch this tonight. Your Valentines decorations look so wonderful. So bright for what can be a dull weather month! Your 💖💓💝💟 quilt is adorable but I was shocked the pattern was in a magazine Jan 2023. Yikes you really are a amazing quilter. And your long arm lady is terrific and quick.. Looking forward to part #2. I also use the large bags for keeping projects organized . ..Handy and you can see what is stored clearly. I have bought them at Walmart and sometimes our local supermarket Publics. See you soon and thank you....

    I love the way you mix fabrics from different collections like in your heart quilt. I’ve seen your drawers of coordinating fabrics in your previous videos. I also collect a lot of fat quarters of mix-and-match fabrics and mix them in my quilts. I will buy yardage of backgrounds but rarely buy multiple yards of anything else. I find myself at a loss when it comes time to bind a quilt, or I want to put a border around a quilt (rarely). In a future video can you discuss how you decide what to buy and how much?

    Hi Susan. Just found your channel. Your decorating and home is beautiful, a lot of inspiration. Love the quilted bear your sister made. Was wondering if there was a pattern for the bear? Thank you for sharing all your inspiration and beautiful work.

    • @pigtailquiltingstitching5635
      @pigtailquiltingstitching5635  Год назад +2

      Thank you for watching Joanne! I do believe my sister had a pattern for the bear. There were two sizes too. The pattern was for just using fabric, but she made it using large quilt blocks she made. It was made over 25 years ago so I don’t know about finding the pattern. I will try to find the name of pattern and the designer.

    • @pigtailquiltingstitching5635
      @pigtailquiltingstitching5635  Год назад +2

      Thank you for watching! I did not do anything prior before sewing. I haven’t had any issues with my fabric, but I do use color catchers if I wash a quilt or I enclose color catchers with a quilt if I give it away.

  • @kurlin97
    @kurlin97 Год назад +1

    Beautiful! You may have already answered this question, I was wondering if you wash your material before you cut and piece.

    • @pigtailquiltingstitching5635
      @pigtailquiltingstitching5635  Год назад +1

      I don’t wash my fabric before I use it. If I am concerned about the colors running like reds I will use a color catcher in the wash. I will also provide them if the quilt is for a gift.

    Hi Susan, thank you for sharing your beautiful home and the way you decorate with your quilts. So beautiful !!!!! From your inspiration, I'm trying to make a small quilt for my sewing cart as well. Just wondering , do you put batting in the quilts that go into your sewing cart and do you sew binding around the little quilts ?

    • @pigtailquiltingstitching5635
      @pigtailquiltingstitching5635  Год назад

      Diana, thank you! I do put batting in the little quilts I made for my sewing carts. I quilt usually in the ditch and I do a binding too.

    May I recommend that you stop using ziploc bags to store your quilts and fabric supplies? Ziploc bags don't allow air to flow throughout the fibers. Ziploc bags do allow mold & mildew to grow as air can not flow freely. Air flow aids in reducing mold & mildew growth. Any humidity in the air when you place your quilt in a ziploc bag can promote mold & mildew growth. Plastic totes are a better option as they are not so air restrictive. You always have such lovely quilts. I really enjoy seeing them in your videos. Please keep sharing by making these videos.

    • @pigtailquiltingstitching5635
      @pigtailquiltingstitching5635  Год назад +2

      Thank you for watching Sherril and all the good information about quilts needing air and not being enclosed in plastic. I totally agree and do not store any of my quilts in plastic.
      I only use the Ziploc bags to transport my quilt top, batting and backing to my long arm quilter. I want to protect it from getting soiled in the car to and from and after it have been quilted. After it is quilted my long arm quilter puts the quilt all quilted into the Ziploc bag and delivers it to the quilt store for me to pick up. After I pick it up and take it home that is the last time the quilt is in that bag. I then save the bag for the next quilt I have that I need to have quilted. My long arm quilter does not have my quilt very long before she quilts it. It was only there a couple of days so not in danger of any moisture. I am fortunate that I don’t have to leave my quilts for any length of time before I get them quilted and returned.
