    Tried Mitchell's Wool Fat today. What a quality product. It left my skin so smooth and soft, I didn't need any moisturing cream after my shave. I had no razor burn what so ever. I have sensitive skin and I can honestly say this has been one of the most delight shaving experiences. The slickness this soap gives is on another level. I'm so pleased with thus shaving soap.

    A great shave with familiar gear. I'm glad you are healed from that steam punk bone saw. You now have battle scars from braving the Valet. This shave was exactly as you described. Mitchell's, and the DE89 are like a pair of broken-in shoes. Comfortable, reliable, and safe. The only way I can get Mitchell's to lather properly is to use distilled water. It does live up to its reputation once brought to life. The EJ has ear spitting feedback. A cracking shave! Thanks for sharing, Kev.

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for another stellar comment Alex. I like the broken in shoes analogy... :) It must be due to hard water that makes it difficult to lather then? I love my DE89. Cheers mate. Kevy :)

    Kevy, I have to say, it's these kind of videos that inspired me to try new shaving products. I'm really enjoying using like Mitchell's Wool Fat and Proraso soaps. I bought an Edwin Jagger DE89 3D razor over 2 years ago after your review. Thanks for doing these kind of videos.

    since I live in mexico I am using mexican shaving soap of very good quality , there are two important soap makers here, the first one is mr , rafael rosas from perfect shaving and the second one is the archaic company. Mr rosas from perfect shaving has a barber shop , who his father started in 1950, in mexico city , he makes around 16 types of different aromas, the lather is great , the nice thing about perfect shaving is that a lot of his aromas are from our local fruits and plants, like grapefruit, peach, pomegranate, etc and plants such as rosemary, bergamot and ginger, arnica flower, verbena , etc, he also makes shaving gel in sachets , specially for people who is travelling and a soft one for ladies specific shaving, normaly I am also using a lot of other brands, but the mexican soaps are very good, regards from mexico , robert

    Just needs eggs and bacon making sounds too 🤣
    Love my Razorock Brushes/soaps- particularly the “Big Bruce”, but had trouble with harder soaps. You helped me to figure out why synthetic don’t like hard soaps, so I broke in a Boar hair brush. What a difference. Got my hands on a MWF refill and excited to try it! Gotta finish my RR Classic croap first 😬

    In Bradford, where it's made is renownd for the softness of the water. That's why Bradford was the biggetst textile city anywhere during the industrial revolution. I suspect that the difficulty in lathering might stem from it being used in hard water areas

    Hi Kevy,
    Dave from Bristol here again. Received my Rockwell Razor and am trying out different plates as my face gets so sore. Just now ordered some Mitchells Woolfat. Had a 3 pass shave a couple of hours ago with plate 2 and Arko. Face bloody sore now!
    Another great video mate. After your recent bloodbath and facial skin removing operation I thought of sending you my newly honed Khukuri knife to shave with. Just up your street that would be!! Stay safe mate and keep up the great video's.

    I just purchased a 100 pack of the Polsilver blades and thus far I’m very impressed with them. They are sharp and smooth blades.
    You can’t go wrong with the Edwin Jagger razor. It’s been quite some time since I’ve used my EJ DE89BA11. I may have to bust it out soon.

    • @kevyshaves4109

      Hey David. I've heard they are stopping making Polsilvers blades so you've done the right thing stocking up on them, especially if like me, you like them. I find them very smooth in most razors. DE89'sare fantastic razors. Have a good weekend. Kevy 😀

    Nice post production effect with the sheep. I have no trouble lathering with MWF and you know my policy against blooming soaps. 20 seconds and the brush is loaded straight from the ceramic dish. . Next, I just add about 10 drops of water to a bowl and bowl lather I just watched a Suffolk Shaver video and it seems that when you guys use the tried and true products, you get great shaves but when you switch to the small soapmakers, you have so problems.
    As I've written on the FB groups, you've got to try a Gillette Nacet with the DE89. It gave my EJ a new lease on life, especially when used with Maca Root shaving cream.

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  7 лет назад

      Shave- a-thon Well, that's probably the reason the tried and tested soaps are still here being used by wet shavers after all these years. I love the traditional soaps and creams as well as also trying to support new artisans at the same time. I'll need to,try a Gillette Nacet in my DE89. Thanks for the tip. Kevy 👍

    Good evening Kevy! Nice to see you using tools and products that work for you. My tub of Mitchell's doesn't have the bleating noise when I open the lid...damn! I guess it might when I remove the paper wrapper, huh? Speaking of shaving soap...OMG...I just scored some Yardley. Yes, vintage Yardley in a wooden bowl that has never been opened. Plus, I made an offer on a gift set that contained a full Mug of Seaforth shaving soap (NOS) and I was surprised the seller accepted. I have acquired all the legendary shaving soaps...Yippie. I digress. That shave has went nicely. I can't wait to have that post-shave feel for myself. I have trouble with the EJ DE89...it gives me razor burn for some reason. Perhaps I should give it a try with the MWF and an Astra SP blade. Have a pleasant evening and pet Riley for me. Take care.

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  7 лет назад

      Hi Todd. Yes, once the paper is removed, the sheep are released...you'll smell them...lol. That's a brilliant score on this vintage soaps. I don't think I know Seaforth soap. Is it an old U.S soap? That's a shame the DE89 doesn't agree with you, I love mine. I hop you're having a good week. Kevy :)

    • @toddf9321
      @toddf9321 7 лет назад +1

      Yes, I didn't pay through the nose for anything and the best part is I can resell some of the things to cover most of my outlay. Yes, the Seaforth shaving soap was a USA product, but named after a Scottish regiment, the Seaforth Highlanders, and the scent is heather and fern. Here is a link to the companies history: www.cosmeticsandskin.com/companies/seaforth.php
      It is said this soap is better than Old Spice and even better the the Yardley. I can compare all three...lol. Additionally, I bought some vintage Williams Mug soap from a defunct pharmacy. There is some pre-1960's to 1976 boxes. That is so superior to modern Williams. Slick and creamy. Just a clean scent.
      Yes, a shame about the DE89. I will shave with it today just to see if a blade change make any difference. Take care Kevy.

    Really nice and I have to say SENSIBLE shave Kevy. I struggle to go a week without getting the MWF out, and mine doesn't even go Baa! Down here in the SW it's limestone country so we have hard water, but I don't have to do anything special to get a great lather from MWF , I just start with a damp brush & load it for a bit longer, that's it 😌👏

    You are raising a valid point about partners and shaving gear arriving through the post. So, may I humbly suggest a technique to deal with the issue of the wife going, "Oh not another shave soap". Well, the technique is very simple: the postie is your friend. Approach him, when you see him one day do his rounds in your vicinity. Tell him, should he happen to realise that yet another soap delivery or yet another aftershave are for you, then if possible (obviously, poor bloke, we certainly don't want him to get into trouble for doing his/her job!), if he could *discreetly* drop your precious shave cargo in a pre-arranged corner of your garden/yard so that the wife don't see it. I'm methodically working toward such an understanding with my postie. Nothing as official as a signed treaty between me and him, but I'll soon be silencing the wife's "Oh not another soap" with that method.
    So, fellow male traditional wet shave afficionados and wife-complaining syndrome sufferers, remember, the postie *is* your friend.
    By the way Kevin -- you can't beat Jag DE89 + Mitchell's shave experience: CLASSIC :) Cheers

    I LOVE MY MUHLE R89! It's my rose gold baby and she treats me right! I Love the sound effects on the soap! I haven't been shaving every day out of laziness for the most part, so I'm only up to 44 shaves on my Pol Silver Super Irridium, so you've got some catching up to do!
    I don't worry about the credit card bill. I use my debit card and drain my back account directly. The wife sees my little bottles of essential oils and shaving stuff and just ignores it. For the most part, I'm not buying lots of stuff, I'm just using all the shaving products vicariously through you! Are Scottish Sheep better than Welsh Sheep Kevy ? I used to watch One Man and His Dog (or something like that), on BBC . Its good to get back to good ole basics . Nice DE89 . Perfect with the fat . Thanks Kevy . Glad you're healing . Gil found a Valet , OC . Have a great week .

      Scottish sheep are better than than Welsh sheep and the reason for that is...they're Scottish!! Lol! I remember that programme being on the BBC, it had a bit of a cult following back in the day. I love my DE89 and it's great to get back to basics. I seen the video where Gil found that Valet, along with a few other nice things. Kevy :)

    OK Kevy, you officially lost your mind and I hope you never find it. LMFAO when you opened the Fat. Much better shave than that mid evil torture device in your last video. Keep up the good work.

    Hi Kevy. Great shave as usual. I`ve never tried "The Fat" yet but one of these days.... See ya later. Take care.

      Hey Brian. Thanks for the kind words. I know the 'Fat" is a little more expensive over the pond but if you can even try a sample, you'll understand why some people say how good it is. There's nothing fancy about it, just a good ol' fashioned shaving soap that works and makes your skin feel fantastic. Cheers. Kevy :)

    I can't lather the God damned thing..
    I tried today with a 620 almost dry, I bloomed the devil's soap and I load properly. NOTHING!
    Only bloody frothy mess!
    What should I do K?

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  6 лет назад

      It's better with a soaked brush, leave the brush very wet and load the shit out of it holding the soap upside down to let the excess water drip out. When you think you have enough soap in the brush, load the shit out of it again. I find sometimes if you leave it after load the brush, for like a few minutes, the lather seems to get creamier. Keep working it on the face or in the bowl and it should eventually get creamier. Good luck. Kevy 👍

    Baaaaa. Baaaaa..whats wrong Kevy You said we were going to the farm today to meet my family...Mom is knitting you a sweater...lol...Good shave Kevy...I love sheep..with a little mint sauce....All my standards today..no wool fat....
    people would talk....89 and polsilver can't go wrong....Healing well I see...I warned you..We all have our moments don't we
    I can go a week with out blood..and then the wife wants to take me to the ER...for a little cut...I'm on blood thinners...so a serious cut is rare...In the end the results are what counts...If it happens again..blame it on Riley...I always blame the dog for everything .lol..Till the next donation to the Red Cross ...cheers !🇷🇺🇺🇸💈💈💉🐐🐐🐑👍
