    Hello! It's Aug. 20, 2017 ...
    Nearly 7 years later and Kebu is still jamming LARGE! With all the bad in the news lately, at least there's something good in this world to celebrate!
    Keep on Jammin' Kebu! We need your uplifting performances now more than ever!!!

      @metaspherz Hi! It's Sept 18 2023 12 years and counting and yes this is THE Kebu trak/video I keep coming back to. Nice one Kebu :)

    @HybOj Thanks!
    The logical answer to your question would be "study music theory". It will help somewhat, but you need to couple it with active music listening and analysing for it to actually help. But it takes of course time and can be very tedious. The easiest way (and my suggestion) is to take songs you really like and pick out the chord sequence or melody in those. Focus on the parts you like the best or would like to understand. Be sure to start with an easy tune!

    still one of my all time favorites, this has lifted depressions away - now I can see how it was made, love you for making this Kebu

  • @kebu
    @kebu  11 лет назад

    Err... no clue. You need an arpeggiator that can be triggered by an external signal. Typically only found in late 70's - early 80's synths.

  • @kebu
    @kebu  12 лет назад +2

    Mostly I omit separate track recording and just mixdown the MIDI-controlled tracks in realtime, but for those synths that don't have MIDI I've just used a 4-track cassette recorder (Yamaha MT4x). And yes, my album is out now! You can listen to it on Spotify and order it on my Channel page (just press the "kebunator" button).

  • @Xezlec
    @Xezlec 14 лет назад +1

    Absolutely beautiful. I wound up here because I had a song in my mp3 playlist called "shivers of life" from back when I had been hunting for vintage synth demos and samples years ago. I rediscovered it today and decided to Google the artist name. You know, it takes me days to put together a song and my songs aren't this good at all. You just stand in front of a keyboard and knock it out of the park. I'm glad there are people like you, or the world would just suck in stereo.

  • @kebu
    @kebu  11 лет назад

    No wonder - this video was the demo that led up to the finished song that you can hear in the live video (the link you listed).

  • @kebu
    @kebu  14 лет назад

    @gearslutdog Yeah, the music was recorded in one go, but the video was recorded with multiple camera takes :)

  • @kebu
    @kebu  14 лет назад

    @Xezlec Wow, thanks a lot! Amazing that you had "Shivers of life" on your playlist! I think it was the first synth tune I ever made, probably around 1998-1999. I'll promise to keep the videos coming, at least in spring.

  • @kebu
    @kebu  12 лет назад

    It's just a downwards arpeggio in two octaves. But the trick is that the 808 send trigger signals to the arpeggio clock, which makes the Juno 60 play the arpeggio in a rhythm as dictated by the 808 trigger signal.

  • @kebu
    @kebu  12 лет назад

    Very seldom. Mainly because I currently rarely need more than 3-4 audio tracks. The rest is controlled by MIDI and mixed down in real time with the rest of the tracks. I like to work that way.

  • @kebu

    Not sure I completely understand your question, but the string sound you get from the Logan is very similar to the famous Eminent string sound as heard on Jarre's early records. However, I think the Eminent were probably much more flexible instruments than the Logan (never played an Eminent so I can't be sure).

    Eight years ago and still this video and Kebu rocks! Count me in on the "I wish I could do that" thing too.

  • @kebu
    @kebu  14 лет назад

    @TIPPERBLK Actually I used a Doepfer cable with 3.5 mm plugs with a typical headphones adapter plug (from 3.5 to 6.3 mm, stereo) and that works. You could also use an ordinary guitar cable and a 6.3 -> 3.5 mm adapter on one end.

    @TR0jAX As stated in the description, the output from the mixer was recorded with a stereo cassette deck, which provides some natural tape compression. Mild EQ and limiting was used in the final digital mastering stage.

    Me encantan estos vídeos en donde sus protagonistas nos desvelan secretos muy celosos sin tapujos. No como hacen otros que es casi imposible verlos desvelando ni siquiera su número de talla de zapatos. Para mi estos vídeos como este tuyo y otros mas dicen mucho a favor de como es la persona en si, y no el artista como tal, dicen mucho mas porque muestran aquello que muchos desconocemos y se muestra en estos vídeos. Y ya no es porque uno diga, caramba si me pueden copiar y puedo escuchar mañana mis temas tocados por otros tantos. Pero para mi ahi radica la verdadera esencia de ser musico, productor y compositor. Que lo importante es que llegue a cuantos mas mejor aunque sea porque han descubierto como ser mas parecidos a quien

  • @cleverhardy5230
    @cleverhardy5230 7 лет назад

    The first Kebu song I came across. With the analogue synths, the 606 and the Solina-style sound through a phaser, this sounds like a perfect representation of Jean Michel Jarre. I can see why some commenters say It's similar to Binary Finary, but details, details. This was a voyage 'to Jupiter and Back', programming synths with a simple drum machine and making a song out of it.
    That aside, I would have never discovered Kebu without this.

  • @kebu
    @kebu  14 лет назад

    @gearslutdog Thanks! You know, I'd really love to that and have been thinking about it for a year now. I just need to build up my repertoire first... :)
    And I totally agree about watching people glaring at laptops on stage. Laptops really ruin the show.

    Umm, I don't use so much VST's nowadays, but from what I've heard Arturia seems to make the best analog emulations. Also, the Sonic Projects OP-X seems to be a good oberheim emulator. Regarding drum machines, I have the Waldorf Attack VST, which I remember was quite nice, but perhaps a bit digital sounding. I really like the sound of the FM7 & FM8 as well, but they emulate the FM-synthesis of the DX7 so those are different types of sounds.

    any chance of putting a time line up of exactly when you leave earth to set of for jupiter. also when you get there and when you leave to come back as i find it confusing to listen to without that. i get lost a little way in and don't know what planets your passing on the way and if any chords/keys you play represent that. i feel like i'm just lost in space traveling with a ruff destination point but no compass to guide me.... e.g. the keys/chords or some kind of pop up thumbnail that says for example... just passing the moon... now passing mars..... and now entering the sphere of venus etc
