The song was a spontaneous content-related examination of the geopolitics of the USA and its ever-adapted power-political geostrategy with the instrument of cultural imperialism in the context of the Iraq War in 2003. Keeping in mind that the countries in Europe have experienced terror attacks as well, but delt with them differently. The band was touring in the US and left the country. Because of how the vibe changed among people. That was very strange for the guys. Europeans have an image of the USA that is shaped primarily by films. Thank you for this - as always - entertaining reaction video. You always get the meaning of a song, because you really listen to it - that's IMHO rarely seen generally in reaction videos. You are a great couple and you really belong together, that's for sure. I think you guys and me are about the same generation - that's what also ties me to your channel. I agree with Wolfman about the fact, that learning Chinese languages will be for the next generation a "must". I want my beloved 80's back - when things were so simple "America is good - Soviet Union is evil". And Eddie Murphy movies are awesome... Alle the best for you guys.
oh man, I definitely wouldn't want to be in the 80s. Because it's not so much fun when you're from the Soviet Union. It wasn't so much fun then when so many people in the world thought we were evil and in America too. And it's even worse when you're still evil in the eyes of the world and that almost doesn't change. And the government is not improving our situation lately. I just wish the hate would end someday. I would like to believe that the day of mutual international respect will come. Although I'm sure there were a lot of cool things in the 80s for you. I understand. I'm not pressuring you to feel the way I do, just sharing. I hope that my statement will not be intrusive, I just wanted to tell you that things may look different from a completely different side of the world.
@@netsardin4019 That's a good point and I agree with you. When I look back, then I am looking back through "pink glasses" - and of course I romanticize the memories of that aera. What I wanted to say was, that the world has become so complicated - and my perception was that in the 80s everything was more simple (of course it wasn't, but my perception was simple). Today I know that not everything was gold, what was shining back then. America was not that "holy" (what my perception at that time has been) and the Soviet Union was not "evil" (but in West Germany we were afraid of the dictatorship of the socialistic GDR - "German Democratic Republic"). I grew up with so called "Russian-Germans" - they suffered here as well, because in Russia they were considered as the "dumb Germans" and in Germany they were considered as the "dumb Russians" - not very nice and I agree with you. But I learned in my life that it's not the people of a country who are "good or evil" - it's only the politicians. And it doesn't matter if these are in the western or in the eastern part of the world. By the way, I have been to Russia as a tourist, I met only nice people there - and I speak Russian language myself ( at least enough for a nice conversation). But again - I agree with you, for the people in the Soviet Union, the negative opinion of the western world was not very pleasant.
Rammstein clearly loves the US. It was the first they wanted to see after the wall came down and they were very eager to to the US tour at a early stage. Perhaps it is a message to other countries to not just follow the american way but search for their own way. The video is very old and I saw some recent people rolling their eyes when they saw them dressed as natives.

Rammstein are legends haha poking fun like they did way back of western culture. They did it on a tour called family values and made fun of other bands and america even got arrested for some stuff

America is formed by European settlers who carried out the greatest genocide in history and look in what absolute misery the native American people are! German here (just for context), but I feel that the song is mostly about the cultural influence of the US on the world which is in itselve not really a bad thing, but the song focuses for obvious reasons on the negative aspects: fast food and cigarettes and so on. The "fakeness" of US culture is of course also a part of it, even though I can't attest to it myself when I went on vacation in the US. Personally the (perceived) fakeness is a bit of a myth and I do think that you guys are just a bit more extroverted and engage in conversations more than north Germans (albeit I was only in Florida). Another part of the song is how the US aggressively pushes their own agenda: "And who doesn't want to dance at the end. Doesn't know yet that he has to dance"

German here (just for context), but I feel that the song is mostly about the cultural influence of the US on the world which is in itselve not really a bad thing, but the song focuses for obvious reasons on the negative aspects: fast food and cigarettes and so on. The "fakeness" of US culture is of course also a part of it, even though I can't attest to it myself when I went on vacation in the US. Personally the (perceived) fakeness is a bit of a myth and I do think that you guys are just a bit more extroverted and engage in conversations more than north Germans (albeit I was only in Florida).
Another part of the song is how the US aggressively pushes their own agenda: "And who doesn't want to dance at the end. Doesn't know yet that he has to dance"
hi from germany I dont realy thing rammstein though of a fake moon landing and if they would have russia and china would have cryed out,its just about how much influance they had and if they had not used it to do so much harm to all matters use other country to fight the commys they would have not harmed themself so bad sadly

I like how Till slips into the role of America in this song and sings, "let yourself be controlled", "I'll show you how it's done right" or also "who doesn't want to dance at the end, how not yet that he has to dance".
Remarkable that Rammstein has chosen the greatest achievement of the USA as a video backdrop with the moon landing, when in the meantime even many Americans have doubts that it is true.
The song was written under the impression of the American invasion of Iraq, when the USA lied to the world to justify this campaign.
