Had one in 06 and just bought a low milage SV1000s here in Australia. Hard to find here. Rode it 600kms back in 38 degrees C the same day. I'm 80 next year.
They're great aren't they John. They're becoming harder to find in good condition here too as they've been out of production for a while now. 600Km in one day in that heat is pretty impressive 🙂
I really enjoy your videos. They are... authentic. I can tell that for you motorcycling is a means to an end. It's all about the ride, the wind on your face, not the bike. RUclips is full of posers and "wannabes " , of people desperately trying to look cool and hip when in reality they're just making a fool of themselves. So keep your videos coming. _Um forte abraço,_ Alex
Thank you Alex, I am always genuinely pleased when my videos are enjoyed. I mostly make them for me so it's a delight when they are well received. I hope that someone will tell me if I ever become one of "those" RUclipsrs but in the mean-time I shall continue to live to ride and record the result. I hope you are keeping well and big hugs to you both :-)
Yeah I test rode the GSX-S 1000 GT, and the inline4 just didn't inspire me. I've had my 1k since 2013 and really no desire to sell it, I love that thumper kick, the narrow tank, the large seat that allows you to move around.
I agree completely, particularly given the current interest in unfaired roadsters. It was dropped due to emission struggles but they've managed to make it work in the VStrom; a new SV would be great eh 🙂 Cheers for watching
@@DukeDyson You are welcome bro. I agree about the new SV. I had the 3rd gen and it was a great bike. Can check my videos... have plenty of the SV stuff among others. :) Cheers.
I've had the sv1000s and Sachs roadster 800 (still have the latter) . Your review is spot on. My sv also had the worn basket rattle. It was a total blast and underrated imo. Ride safe 🖖
Yes, totally underrated for sure. I have a soft spot for Sachs Roadsters, having owned the 800 and the 650, I really wish I'd never sold the 650 but hey ho! :-)
Just put a deposit on a K7 Classic too. Have owned a K3 S for a few years but sold it last year and regretted it. And have had a GSR750 since but it’s no SV. Can’t wait for my new one. Nice video! 👍🏼
They're a great bike for sure Jamie, I don't think there's much else quite like it (unless you go Ducati but then you run the risk of not getting home)
@@DukeDyson I went Ducati.. 748. Beautiful bike, fantastic to look at and to listen too. But far to temperamental for me! Had that at the same time as my K3, the K3 stayed and the 748 went!
Yeah that's a good engine . Worked well in the DL detuned again. That bike with the high pipes and faux knobblies! That was funny when you sold your strom and got the xjr. And I sold my xjr and bought a strom. Then I swapped it for that bmw which I hated. The steam train seemed to appreciate the sv. Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤
Ayup brother, hope all is progressing nicely. I bought the Strom because of the engine then chuckled when we reversed our choices :-) It took two hours to get that shot of the train!!!!
Good review of a good reliable machine. Suzuki seem very adept at producing well thought out 'all rounders' that do exactly what they were designed for, without resorting to too much fashion induced hyperbole & name dropping of parts. Their stuff works, & will do so reliably across it's full range until it wears out, eg. you don't have to immediately swap out half the running gear to make it tolerable on the way home. (FVQ shocks & most 70's OEM tyres anyone? : ) Never got to run an SV, but those that did would turn up time after time on the same bike, seemingly more than happy to do so, year on year etc. . . a good horse. P.S. Wish I could buy a new Busa, stick it in the lounge & spend 20yrs admiring what you actually get for 16 grand! : )
I just bought a new 650 after much research, with the same intention, i wanted a do it all machine right at the edge of being a sportbike, but truly comfortable and reliable. And i love twins. She's about to get the whole slew of upgrades.
@RRRRefuelRideRace will do! For the record, Thursday it goes in for Modena nano-titanium protection on the tank and wheels. No tank protector for me. M4 full exhaust sitting in the garage. Then install dyno tune, tune. Then wide handlebars, bar ends, Rizoma mirrors, Corbin saddle, fork brace, Ohlins fork cartridges, some form of rear shock, larger sprocket thinner chain, and then when I run these Dunlops Roadsmart 3s down, a set of 4's. I intend to have the best SV in Seattle. So far I'm the only one I've seen. Maybe the LED headlight too.
@@Audfile Uf, this one is gonna have all that one can imagine. Nice. After you should film it, I mean make a video. Will watch. Thanks for stopping by and subscribing, I think it was you. :) Take care.
Love the V twins, I have a GSX1400 which I love too, but I think after seeing this I will be searching for another steed in my garage.... An SV 1000 twin, probably the S as I've got the 1400 cruiser.
Loved this video! Spot on as always. Though as if I needed another reason to miss my SV650S! It’s funny because when I part ex. for my tiger 955i I remember looking for someone to swap it for the sv1000n. Didn’t work out in the end, but always said one day I’ll buy one as my second ride. One day lol. Top marks for the end shot. What a neat ending with all the different modes of transport swinging past!
Cheers Trev, for me the SV is a bit special, it just seems to suit me perfectly. Took ages to get that end shot, I really wanted just the bike and the train but after hours of all sorts of "interruption" this was the best shot :-) Cheers for watching

They sure are a great bike Cecil with a lot of potential for improvement. I really rate mine too, there's a few compromises but there's a good reason I've now owned it for 13 years :-)
Quite an extraordinary gal, you’ve got there, Dr. D.! I’ve got an ‘03 bike in the garage myself… hope you’re feeling stronger each day. Looking forward to see you and Del on your forthcoming Q&A. 🏍👍🏍
I've had a k5 sv1000n brand new, and I loved it, until the clutch basket started to vibrate the bike to pieces. Back then nobody knew what the issue was. I took it to the Dealer, at least 5 times, to diagnose the problem, and they keep saying that it was normal... The end result, was, Suzuki lost a loyal customer( I've owned 5 Suzuki's brand new before the SV)I love the design of the new GSX-S1000, but I've lost the confidence on the brand. So, I'm gonna keep my NC700x, I find the bike ugly, but reliable as a Mack truck. 👍
It's a little sad and maddening that manufacturers and their agents frequently won't accept or take responsibility for issues! It would be of benefit to them to deal with it as, as you say, once you've found something that works for you you'll likely stick with it. Enjoy the NC700 and ride safe eh 🙂
Which of the firms do you know of who run the clutch modification still please? Werks has retired and the other guy on here sharealike doesn't seem to get back to you.
As a fellow SV Classic Owner for the last couple of years it was nice to see someone else's opinion of this bike. I just love the mid range grunt and noise these V twins produce 💪 Btw do you recall the name/manufacturer of the fly screen your using ? I have a puig fitted at present but it's a little too tall for the looks I want. Regards
V Twins are quite a different experience from the Japanese norm for sure, I love 'em too :-) The fly screen on my bike was standard fitment on the K7 Classic so it came with the bike. If you want to go OEM most Suzuki parts are available from Robinsons Foundry . Cheers for watching
She’s a keeper. Will be nice to see her in the flesh again soon.
Certainly is :-) Shouldn't be long now eh buddy, it's long overdue

Indeed it's a trick that Suzuki have successfully pulled off time and time again, that's possibly why I've had more Suzukis than any other marque :-)
