I got the same effect with low fog on a wet grass. I had just turned the sprinklers about an hour before and turned the fog machine on and wow. I guess the wet grass makes the ground cooler so it's the same principle. I had a grave yard scene on my front yard for trick or treaters and it looked really awesome.

If you would want to use a flexible tube for a specific purpose, what material should it be? Would the tube become very hot (I'm not interested in the cooling part)? Any risk of the fog going back to fluid and damaging the pipe in small spaces (home sewer system)?

Ah, I would create a separate chamber to prevent someone from getting a small piece of dry-ice and ingesting it; that could burn the throat or even chock them.
Why does the machine still seep out steam even when it isnt activated? This is using tiny amounts of fluid & wish it wouldnt leak steam out if the button isnt pushed.
