  • In an exclusive film by Hole & Corner silversmith Jesper Nordø reveals the processes and history of making a Georg Jensen masterpiece.
Jesper Nordø started out as an apprentice at Copenhagen’s Georg Jensen in 1989. Nordø makes crafting the silver Henning Koppel pitcher look effortless whilst explaining, at the same time, that Koppel’s design was a new style in making silver. It was known by silversmiths in the 1950s as an 'impossible pitcher' as its organic shape and highly polished surface made it challenging to make.
First formed in 1952, the pitcher is one of Henning Koppel's most famous pieces. Koppel's designs played an important role in influencing the signature look at Georg Jensen, particularly in the second half of the 20th century. The designer had trained as a sculptor before turning his attention to jewellery, hollowware and cutlery.
Georg Jensen was founded in 1904 by a Danish silversmith of the same name and prides itself on the highest quality craftsmanship and timeless modern design.

This is how things should be today! Kids get out of school with no abilities yet they want to be head chefs, head jewelry makers, etc. no experience. When I was 16( 1970), I thought about cooking for a living. I researched the apprenticeship and had to admit it was more than I could handle 10 to 12 years as a “journey man” cook and then , then, u Hope u could get a job as a Soux chef...now kids spend 120k at culinary institute and think that makes them a chef....I respect ur work and work ethic. Thank u sir. And I must say, I am so impressed with ur skills and workshop!

@@stillkickin9957 If I was teaching, I would demand it (like I did when teaching fly fishing to kds - safety first, and no eceptions), to not make them think, that it's optional. But irl, with my experience with silver and bandsaws, I don't think, he was in any danger there. His face is so far away from the cut, that I don't think, anything will ever reach his eyes (and if it could, he'd probably have known after a lot of sawing before becoming so good at his job, and put some on, since he did with the Dremel), and the video seems to confirm that.
