Appreciate the honest review. I will stick with my analog latte experience rather than an app, led and cord to help me enjoy my coffee. Might be good for people at the office in the 80s where taking over an hour to drink a coffee from the bunn coffee pot was more normal :) An app for a coffee cup. Crazy world.
I use one at work (mug) and one at home (smaller cup). Aramse nailed the review. Its for people who dont manage to drink it quickly because of othr tasks. I can have juniors coming in with zero notice asking for advice, or urgent clinic matters suddenly interrupting me. This keeps my drink warm for when i get back to the real task at hand, coffee.
Hi Tom, I love your videos and reviews, a very unique way to show products and to talk about coffee, which is something that I love and drink all the time. Regards from Montreal, Canada.
Definitely for me. I can’t stand a cold cup of coffee or tea. Sometimes I get busy and walk away for 10 minutes and my coffee/tea are cold. I live in a colder climate so this product actually feels spot on.
I have had mine ( 10 oz ) for many years and use it almost daily, I enjoy it and it’s fun to use, I’m a sipper and enjoy bringing the temperature down slowly and taste the different flavors of the coffee, I keep a cover on it when off the charging coaster to help hold the temperature longer. Temperature range 49 Celsius to 63 Celsius ( 120 degrees to 145 degrees) nicely done and fun video.
I picked one up a month ago and used it a few times. Now it lives in a cupboard. I found it well-made, clever, with an accompanying app that is intuitive and fun to play with. The problem for me is that I just don't need an hour to drink coffee--I'm a coffee drinker, not a slow coffee sipper.
Unrelated but If I could get the Breville barista pro around the same price of the original Delonghi La Specialista(with like 280$ish in cashback), would you say the Breville barista pro a clear winner? Considering quality, maintenance and everything else(and even support when something breaks)... Im returning the Delonghi dinamica plus 370.95.t cause for some reason I have a deep passion for being a barista+the temperature of the drink sucks😅 Love your channel❤❤❤
Yes, the Barista Pro beats the La Specialista in every way. Not sure though about warranty or fixing. The Breville's are kind of a bitch to take apart.
This is definitely not my cup of tea (forgive the pun). Its not just about the temperature, but the drink itself oxidizes and flavour changes over time. That being said its interesting tech, keep 'em coming, Tom. Cheers!
Tom, I like it. Currently, I use multiple coffee warmers in different locations: home office, business office, kitchen and bedroom. Yes, I work all the time. Six days a week, up at 4:20 am each day. I need my hot coffee, tea or espresso drink. I get several interruptions and I truly dislike a cold coffee drink or tea. I would need four of these. However, I think it would be great when I am traveling to an offsite location. Cool item.
And another thing with a cord. Not for me. Call me old-fashioned but In my point of view these kind of gadgets are fun to look at but seems to making simple things things more complex for little to no real benefit. I like to keep things simple in life. Maybe there are people wo let their coffee sit for an hour or so, but I drink my Cappuccino while its hot :) Nevertheless, thanks for showing Tom.
I agree. An insulated mug does the job just fine. Plus with a lid it can easily keep warm for well over an hour. If you’re not enjoying your drink by then, why even make the cup of coffee?
A cool thing would be, apart from that light being higher, also having a line, a thin line across the cup vertical that can show you with a light where is the liquid, i mean how much liquid left is there.
Great video, thanks. I would definitaly go with ember, but i ask myself, how is it with the material ... health? And how is it, if i use metal spoon? Or other spoon better? And also, there are metalic colors, which i would like to buy. Does they have different material?
Hey Tom, your videos have really helped me on my espresso journey and I just recently ordered a Gaggia Classic Pro Evo after upgrading from the Delonghi 3220. I’m looking at entry grinders and I was between the DF54 or Breville Smart Grinder Pro and possibly the Baratza Sette 30. Any input on this would be quite helpful and i really appreciate the content you’ve provided. Thank you in advance. All comments are welcome too!
It's not for me (my coffee lasts max 15 minutes anyway, well within the range of a double wall tumbler), but I can see the appeal. My wife tends to sip her coffee over an hour or two, so she's more the target audience. And for a white collar office worker who's already tethered to a desk by a phone or laptop, the cord requirement isn't burdensome. Thanks Tom for the honest review, always love hearing your thoughts.
I hate the taste of the coffee after a few minutes, is that just me? It’s ok for tea and cocoa however and I enjoy that. If you drink outside in cooler temps it keeps your enjoyment at optimum level during a normal drink time If you want to sip coffee all day though and your not drinking maxwell forget it Get a great carafe and some insulated mugs
I use mine every morning. It's great when your last sip is the same as your first. It's also brilliant for camping and cold mornings outside. You really only need to use the app once to set your temp, and you never have to bother with it again. Fair play though, I bought mine (new, in box) from a thrift store for about $20 😁
So funny because about 5 years ago I bought an electric car-cup from a thrift shop for $3.99 (minus my SS discount, of course:) It says "Smart Products" on the thermostat mounted on the cup. The little cord plugs into the cup. Not connected to my phone. :):) Not as aesthetically- pleasing but hard to beat the price. Like most gimmicks, I used it a couple times and it is currently in my donation box. Seems I tend to drink all/most of my coffee before it gets too cold.
$$ but worth it if your a hot coffee drinker, been few reviews on travel version not so good, think all wait for v2 of that one....thanks for reviewing a good range of products
First I thought it could boil water however it is only to keep your drink warm? Well use a good isolated mug or espresso cup. After all, drinking coffee that is made half an hour ago is gross.
It’s kind of a gentle heat, though, so it doesn’t really overheat the coffee. It works pretty well, but it need to have a larger volume for me for it to make sense.
My Wife often makes her tea and puts one down for me on the desk. She has an asbestos mouth, where as I don't so I give it time to cool down. Then I forget and it goes cold and I hate cold tea! So down the drain it goes!! Funny thing is I love coffee and I never let that go cold!! I would give the cold tea to the dogs, but it has some xylitol in it, which I understand would make their liver explode, so that isn't an option, so what I am saying is my birthday is coming up and I have shown this vid to my Wife 🤞THX Tom 👍 It may have a use here, but just not for the drinks I love the most, in my case cappuccinos and espressos, because I am on top of the things that I love ☕❤ Figuratively speaking 🤣of course!
I enjoy Yunnan tea, which can't really be "over-seeped" so I make it right in the cup. I use plastic lids (like from a cottage cheese container) handy. I put the cup on one of them and I cover the teacup with the other one. That keeps the tea at brew temperature much longer . Most of the heat exits from the top, covering the cup makes the most amazing difference.
@@SunriseLAW This would work if I liked it hot !! 👍 Never tried Yunnan.... I will mention to my Wife to give it a go and slip me some (Hopefully it wont get too cold before I sip it 🤣
@@drew8958 Chinese Tea is very different than the Tea found in India, etc. The good stuff has a unique aroma. Problem is, there is a lot of 'bunk' on the tea market.
Got mine for Christmas last year. This is one of those things you didn't know you needed until you have one. Unfortunately, my battery is already failing to hold a charge after 11 months. I don't like the lack of longevity of the battery.....BUT, I will be biting the bullet and replacing it. I have found it to be a really important creature comfort. Now when I drink coffee from a traditional mug and the last few ounces are cold, I feel like a caveman.
Well, I bought a Yeti to replace my Ember and I really like it. No battery, and it holds my drink warm for me. You just have to get the temperature right yourself when filling the cup though. Cheers!
