Do authors not understand that diplomats don't just take charge and lead armies or fleets
They also have ship captains leading infiltration missions and special operations missions. Or soldiers dropping powerful weapons and using knives.
There is a huge amount of military fiction being written by authors that do not bother doing any research at all on how the military operates. I find it kind of sad as some of the world building is pretty interesting but then the story is completely destroyed by getting even the basics just so completely wrong. And it is not like the info is hard to find.
I do not understand why someone would spend all the time and energy it takes to write a story and then just wing it instead of doing a bit of research.

Things can go wrong, completely relying on a timer. What if it malfunctions. What if a ravager party comes along. Staying behind was the best option for the plan to work. Plus, Nathan was weary. Of time. Of death. Of war. He had nothing else to live for. No family. No friends. He was an old soldier called back by his sense of duty. What better way for an old soldier to die. In a blaze of glory. Plus, he knew a school would be named after him. And as for the Ravagers story. Can anybody say "Firefly?"

Still, it makes no sense, they came with a big fleet on a dead world. Queen being alone is no threat too, If one bomb doesn't work, you just put another one and game is over. These people could travel through the galaxy and wouldn't be able to set a small bomb to kill one indifidual. Also, If a ravager party was to come, they would face a full fleet designed to deal with them and, more important, they would come from another planet which would have queens too, This implies that the work of the fleet wouldn;t have been finished and Nathan was simply killing himself for no reason b4 the threat was dealt with, Suicide is not the way to go for a warrior, this is the way of the cowards or the desperates and he was not in either position,

Decent story but fix your AI.
"Population One Down" and the rest after that was sound splatter. But I don't know if that was the AI or the writer writing this out, messing something up while typing, and never going back to proof read.
I am so sick of AI generated stories. From now on, I’m just gonna automatically block channels that include certain words, like galactic counsel, for instance. People that are just too damn lazy to write their own stories get no respect from me
Lose the computer voice. The mispronunciations and bad pauses are too distracting. Human narrators work great.
