im having an issue where i cannot export the final project ive spent hours on as a png. its only for some reason exporting individual layers... please can you help me
Sure! Usually in that case, I save a new file so I can combine all the layers into one. Then highlight all layers, and hit CMD E (CTRL E on PC). Then export as PNG. Let me know if it's still not working. :)
@@GDHT What do you mean by combine all layers into one? Like merge them? But then you say select all?
@@SumoAgario I think I may have misunderstood. You just want to save 1 png file total, right? Just go to File > Export > Export As and choose PNG on the right.
Sorry it took so long to respond. We get notifications for new comments, but replies get buried!
i want one image in many colors. I use layers for the colors but doing this only exports the layers not different colors of the image. any help?
Do you just want a PNG or JPG file? You can go to Export > Export As, then choose JPG or PNG on the upper right. That should give you just the one image with all layers "flattened" together.
Is there a way to do this with grouped layers (save each group as a png)? I have a file with dozens of these groups that I have to export individually as pngs... It's quite tedious, so wondering if there's a shortcut.
I usually ungroup before doing this. I don't think that particular script works that way. You would probably need to find a different script online or write your own (not easy).
when I apply the image after export as png 24 like in your video in my code, it doesn't match what I designed. Can you give some the solution ? what size do you use when designing in psd?
When I design a website, I use 1500 px wide, except for full-width images - I set those up in a separate document at 3000px wide. So your size of the image in PNG doesn't match what's in the PSD?
My images got resized, blown up and the dpi dropped to 72. I ave 300 dpi for images as client request, how do I save my layers to PNG retaining my image values??
I think this is specifically meant for web images, but here’s a workaround: Go to Image Size, and uncheck "Resample Image" and set the resolution to 72. You’ll notice your images are much larger (width and height). Then run Export Layers to Files.
Export your images to their own unique folder.
Open one of the new files in Photoshop and create a new Action.
With your new action recording, go to Image > Image Size...
Uncheck "Resample Image" and set the resolution to 300.
Stop recording your action and save it.
Then...
Go to File > Automate > Batch... and select your newly recorded action. Choose the folder you exported to as the source and choose "Save and Close" as the destination.
Hit OK and watch Photoshop do the work for you.
Hi :D Do you know how to get the layer names ONLY, and no numbers or prefixes added? I have cc 2019, and i just dont find a fix for that.
Well, you have to get in and change part of the code in the script. On a Mac, go to Applications > Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 > Presets/Scripts > Export Layers To Files.jsx
Open the .jsx file with Dreamweaver or a text editor and comment out the the contents of line 1083 by applying two forward slash characters (//) to the beginning of the line. The resulting code will look like this:
// fileNameBody += "_" + zeroSuppress(i, 4);
Save the .jsx file changes.
Close and reopen Photoshop CC, then run File > Export > Layers to Files...
Great @@GDHT :D I will try that. I had an old scripting method for cc 2018, but it seems to have changed. I wish Adobe could have placed a checkbox in the menu instead :D Thanx for fast answer :D
Hi again @@GDHT
I have tried your scrip now and it does change the number of digits, but it does not give a clean layer name.
This is the first version of naming layers without any scripting
_0000_foreground-E.png
_0000s_0000_EPP1.png (this one are in a layer group and seeems to get extra digits in the name)
The preferred names would be
Foreground-E
EPP1.png
Thats the way layers are named.
When I tried your script I got this
_foreground-E.png
_0000_EPP1.png
I dont know if it´s possible to refine this even more?
Best regards
Mikael
I solved it :)
var fileNameBody = fileNamePrefix;
// fileNameBody += "_" + zeroSuppress(i, 4);
fileNameBody += "" + layerName;
fileNameBody = fileNameBody.replace(/[:\/\\*\?\"\\|]/g, "_"); // '/\:*?"|' -> '_'
if (fileNameBody.length > 120) {
fileNameBody = fileNameBody.substring(0,120);
}
saveFile(duppedDocumentTmp, fileNameBody, exportInfo);
duppedDocumentTmp.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
dupObj.artLayers[i].visible = false;
}
for( var i = 0; i < dupObj.layerSets.length; i++) {
if (exportInfo.visibleOnly) { // visible layer only
if (!orgObj.layerSets[i].visible) {
continue;
}
}
var fileNameBody = fileNamePrefix;
// fileNameBody += "_" + zeroSuppress(i, 4) + "s";
exportChildren(dupObj.layerSets[i], orgObj.layerSets[i], exportInfo, dupDocRef, fileNameBody); // recursive call
Mikael Andersson awesome! Maybe I should do a video on this...haha!
All your pics are masked. At what stage did you do this in more detail, please?
Aleksey Karpov you don’t have to mask the images for this to work, I just do that to get a better crop non-destructively.
How do I show auto selection?
thank u i see it
I'm not sure what you mean.
Oh ok - glad you got it figured out!
