My city had a super hero wannabe that would patrol our downtown and also go to all our major local events. He found one of our banks unlocked at night along with other buildings that should have been locked at the time, and he helped chase a few bad guys on foot with cops during the fair once. I town has a local hero too, started 3 years ago when he said he woke up at the hospital. He had no memories of his past life, also had no family members. He started living at a group home on the north side where he searched for a job. One day while he was at the store buying woods to burn with the homeless, a robber came to the store trying to rob it. While the robber walk in he completely walked past him at the door without seeing bob. When bob realized the robber didn’t see him. Bob turned around and grabbed an umbrella, then hit the robber with it on the Hand n his gun fell. The robber ran then bob tackle him and sat on him till the cops got there. They ended up arresting both of them because it turned out bob was a escaped mental patient who was placed in the wrong hospital room. After setting the hospital on fire. The Northside will forever remember The Northside Psycho Bob for his heroism and the woods he smked with us.
I feel he started it all with good intentions and really wanted to help people. Sadly the Fame and Ego got the best of him. Dont meet your Heroes people, because they are only Human.
@Perentie with internet *If someone pulls a gun on you*, sure under that specific circumstance but he was seeking out drunk people around bars to fight, not going to the gang territories, and there's a real argument to be made that while not inebriated the folks he was beating on would never have agreed to 'mutual combat', especially if they knew he was a trained Fighter wearing specialty gear.

I find it awesome that phoenix Jones is probably one of the best legit superheros in real life, and sad that he got accused of so many things and had to retire. For the time he was crime fighting, He was a legend.
Jones is polarizing for me I like what he stood for He was a symbol Sure a bit of egotistical symbol but one nonetheless that made people in Seattle a feel a bit better about their streets But he tainted that symbol proving that Heroes in real life would exploit their credibility
10:52 I love how you address the dumb sh*t. From the video edits to the way you paint the picture. I’ve been having a damn good time since the AM. Sorry if I’m heavy. I don’t hold back the love.
Everyone knows superheroes should be be easily recognized, spottable, and hang out in massive groups on the street with ridiculous outfits to draw as much attention to yourself as humanely possible. Oh and mortal if you can't die where's the challenge?
Not sure if anyone even remembers Batman Forever, but there was a very clear warning about going down the Phoenix Jones path. "Say you find Harvey, say you kill him. But the pain doesn't die with Harvey, it grows. So you run out into the night to find another face....and another....and another......and another. Until one terrible morning you wake up and realize: revenge has become your whole life."
Didn't know Seattle was almost as bad as Ohio. Anyway, I'd take the same stand as uncle Dan here, I do believe that the Superhero thing should go as long as he can. Because even if he sometimes picks up with the wrong people, when the does fight real criminals and beats them up, it's satisfying... And he's doing a better job than the police.
Two of my earliest memories of Seattle are multiple encounters with mentally ill homeless taking shits in or near busses, & thousands of people pulling out their phones to record a flattened hit & run victim waiting half an hour for an ambulance to arrive.
Seattle was actually a lot safer back then. Nowadays the homeless problem is destroying the city. Used to be a guy on the corner selling crack, but not looking for any trouble. Now there's a crazy guy with a knife screaming his dead off.... and the police are no where to be found.
I live in the bad part of Columbus. Ohio is like a beautiful, peaceful, affluent suburb compared to the shithole that is Seattle/Tacoma. If you want to see someone take a shit in the middle of the street while the cops watch it and laugh, the three cities in America where this is possible are Seattle, Philadelphia and San Francisco.
Mutal combat doesn't require police just a 3rd party independent of the 2 combatants, you also have to verbalize agreement from both parties before the fight begins. Used it in hs a lotttt.
Mannn I'm not a fighter or anything like that but I feel like more states should have this haha if 2 grown men feel like they gotta duke it out I thinks it's fine as long as no one gets killed.
I think he had the best of intentions. And he did a lot of good. No hate towards him, I just think his definition of "bad guy" changed throughout his career.
Interesting story. Brave dude. As said, most people wouldn't get involved. Never knew about him though. If I didn't see it I wouldn't have believed it.
You're a legend saving your ad till end, deserved to be watched. Ps ghosts are real (fear of dark or feeling of being watched, they move!) Hold every thought captive as if it's not your own;) and stay away from the rainbow.
He probably started out fighting legit criminals and gang members then realized it wasn't fun getting shot and stabbed and was like, shit, ima just go beat up some wannabe tough guys, towards the end of his career as the Phoenix
The reason that people don't step in when they see a crime happening isn't because they don't want to its because if they help they will get in trouble for it

Man, this video gave me actual nostalgia. I first heard about this guy back when I was in middle school. Had no idea that he turned into a villain. Time sure does fly.
Anti-hero is the word
My city had a super hero wannabe that would patrol our downtown and also go to all our major local events.
He found one of our banks unlocked at night along with other buildings that should have been locked at the time, and he helped chase a few bad guys on foot with cops during the fair once.
His name was captain Jackson.
He retired just a couple years back and some blame our towns recent downfall on his absence.
👍
Is this true

You can look him up; captain Jackson from Jackson Michigan.
He definitely a real weird guy. 👍

Google says he died in 2021. Maybe covid got him? At the end of the day, we are all just human.
The one you labeled as Grim Reaper was actually Thanatos and operated in Vancouver. He was an old guy and has not been heard from a while. Presumed dead according to rumors.

As someone who lived in Seattle the SPD are one of the most careless and dangerously incompetent police forces. Pheonix wasn't perfect but he definitely cares more than anyone in the SPD.
I don't think the SD are that bad, but there aren't enough of them. It's a seriously under staffed department and if there's a serious crime happening or a big event going on, you can forget about them responding to your problem. : (
EDIT And agreed, Phoenix did a lot of good. It's unfortunate he had so many personal problems afterwards.
In my personal experience, all cops are assholes who only care about how many goons they bag, not about actually protecting the people. If we had more people like who were like the rest of the Rain City League, we wouldn’t need any dumbass police forces.
He cares more but he was dealing while going after dealers? Nah. Guy is a hypocrite. He wanted fame.
@@NewYorkInitiative Exactly. plus I have a hard time believing he went after any major dealer because if he did, one would think he'd have enough common sense to keep his identity more of a secret. The fact that he didn't even do that well shows he probably only went after the dealers that most people in that market don't care about rather than the major players to make that much of a difference.

Phoenix Jones - beaing up drunk people while being a MMA fighter and wearing an incredibly protective suit that cushions all blows. Truly a brave man.
I mean to be fair, if one pulls a gun on you, it’s practical to have some sort of protection. But yeah.
Yea I'll like if he go busted some drug dealers or gang members but doubt someone would actually do that

The opioid epidemic hit us pretty hard and our police department does definitely have an institutionalized racism problem and allocates their funding poorly, but we have the best hospitals in Washington and are one of the safest places to be queer and/or trans in the country
Phoenix Jones becoming a full-blown villain is quite the character shift.
He’s not a villain. He’s just a guy in a superhero costume that made some bad decisions
My good friend grew up just a few houses down from him and went to the same school. He said throughout the 9 or 10 years he did, that he’s never met a more delusional person in his life. He said this guy took delusional extremism to a whole new level and whatever he was into at the time, he would completely play that role. He also mentioned the dude probably had a shitty home life he was trying to escape from by living out whatever fantasy he was into that week. Most notably he supposedly had a goth phase that he really went overboard with right before he started watching UFC. Which of course we know how the rest of the story goes… Had I not known exactly where this dude grew up I wouldn’t have believed him because the story was so freaking crazy. But honestly the more I learn, the more I realize he wasn’t just bullshitting me at all. Most everything he told me at the time has completely been verified. It’s absolutely insane 😂

Yes, being charged with selling drugs is literally like being found out a serial killer. What a perfect analogy. A really good way with words.
This dude is is a real Kick Ass
