I've been reading these posts for years and I've finally decided to say something. What sets this band apart from all the others is their arrangements. Sounds like they have two trumpet parts....1st and solo. Lower and middle brass play "power chords" and woodwinds back-up the upper brass on many arrangements. When this band is hitting on all cylinders, no one can touch them. And no, I did not attend SU....Kentucky State.
I tune some folks out when it comes to that. You can show SU playing the many songs that they don't even crank at all...and, folks will still say SU just plays loud. When you're in the game awhile. It comes with the territory. Good thing is...doesn't take much to laugh at folks that are totally wrong.
actually if you really anything about playing sousaphone, you would know that tubas are to be felt not heard especially on a ballad. Yes they are supposed to be one dynamic over the band even when the director tells the band to come down.. That's the reason for bell tones. Round out each note making it short but still full. That's all I'm saying I'm not hating I love SU ;)

I love how people listen to stuff and post only bad things if you gone listen to a 2 minute video don't post about 4 seconds of wrong note when really there was nothing wrong with it and oh yea word up to the b-tones and mellos holdin it down

I see you nodding your head to behold. Don't hate. I just said the arranger put in a wrong chord and mr Adams cn tell you what it is just by listening. He is the only professor without a doctorate.
please dont take this the wrong way su is my favorite band but ihate when yall play ballads and play soft. it doesnt sound the best for instancxe at the beginning of the song it wasnt together but after yall cranked it up omg yall was the best band in the land again. and i saw the old head the white tuba player that use to dance sorry for thecritism yall stillmy favorite

@hellomrwest2k10 its the band......my band has no NUTZ or no swag on their horns anymore.....they just play whats on the paper and put no style to it....the lack enthusiasm now that we had earlier this decade.
