This phone is really nice, I bought it 😁 MyOS is better than I thought, very nice on the eyes - I have Nova Launcher on permanently anyway but it keeps the nice MyOS custom graphics in the menu's which I prefer 👍 Plastic, Glass - I don't really give a 💩 what it's made of - It feels nice & looks nice so I'm good 👌 Performance is great thanks to that Snapdragon EIGHT HUNDRED AND SEVENTY (or eight seventy as we say in the UK 🤣🤣) , gaming great - No 💩 notch & no bloatware as you said (its pretty stock Android & the few changes they have made are better) 👍 yes I would have liked stereo speakers to go with that large OLED screen (which looks fantastic) but the single one does well enough. got the software tuned to how I like & battery life is also great for me. This is my first ZTE phone & I'm not disappointed with anything so far - really a decent phone for the price 👍

For sure now the quality of the selfie camera is totally under par, but as the tech evolves, in a couple of years maybe they will be able to reach the standard quality. More than AI, here they need some better tech. Turning off pixels in that area, only when you select the selfie camera, should help. But also some better camera sensor able to see through the glass.
I'm already tired of these narrow long phones. Every next model becomes even longer and narrower. Somebody finally give me a short and wide phone. I will buy it immediately, even if I won't be going to replace my current phone at that moment :)
Under display selfie camera on Mi Mix 4 is definitely better than the one on Axon 30. Hoping to see under display selfie camera to provide at least 4K/30 fps or 4K/60 fps video recording.
Not sure if i missed it, does it do display out from the USB-C? or all the latest ZTE phones do it? This might be a great contender to replace my mi max 3. I like the big screen. oh and lol on the MIUI
Every phone with type c can do a video out, you just need a mhl adapter, it's 15 bucks. What most phones don't have is software enabled pc interface, only Samsung flagship has dex and Motorola has it. Otherwise video out is just screen mirror with slightly less or same latency.
If only it wouldn't be so big... 5.4 to 5.8 inches would have been better. I also miss the audio Jack and (wishful thinking) a replaceable battery... :( Fantastic review man!

Honestly, it gives me the impression that it is something that is not finished....Then this implementation of the selfie camera ... Visually, I think it's good, what you see for the first time is a full screen, without holes ... But the results obtained with this selfie camera .. are pathetic .. even if ZTE brought here the second generation of UDC... Now, in the top of the discussions is Mi Mix 4 for this camera under display, which is better than the one on Samsung Galaxy Fold 3, but it would be very useful for us to see a comparison with this ZTE if Xiaomi will send a unit to Chris for test.
bought a poco x3 pro last week, my first phone with the hole. I can say the camera hole is none issue. the phone is so tall and large that I don't notice the camera in portrait or landscape mode. with this image quality and cost, they could be better off with a tiny camera beside a speaker grill
My problem with this tech is that now privacy is practically impossible, you cant put a slider or a tape over the camera without covering part of the display
Most phones have a punch hole/notch camera and realistically anyone could be watching through that and you wouldn't know. I think the pop up camera's is the best all around for privacy while still having a full display. I wish more brands would release more. The Asus Zenfone 8 flip is probably what I would buy if I wanted a solid all around performer.
Tbh i only watch videos from these "trial with errors" companies to support you 👍 They want to cramp in as much as possible but with horrible software implementation, they just can't optimize.
But they are the ones pushing the envelope. LG paid the price and I lament its demise. I advocate we should support these companies whenever possible. I have been interested in ZTE since Axon 7 and it's doing good work, Rather than one product and it's gone, like the Essential phone PH1 or even Razer phone 1 and 2. Those are the ones not worth supporting.
The underscreen camera for me is pointless if the notch above is removed when theres still a chin underneath. It wouldve been better if they just equally balanced the top and the bottom bezel. I dont care if the top would be bigger, i just want the phone to have equal bezels qnd also front firing equal size speakers
The mi mix 4's ud camera is way ahead of what i seen from this one, not much different from the last one, that is shockingly poor software optimization😂 My Redmi Note 10 Pro is better than this phone, sure it has the way better chip but that's it.

full screem experience is nice and I don't really care about the front camera, but 499$ is not good when you can get similar specs on poco f3 for 299$
