Great study and presentation Vince, makes total sense we are not designed to sit all day, it's difficult for some people who are forced to do this because of work that's why standing desks and the tips you gave are very helpful. I'm fortunate to work on my feet all day for 12hrs a day and never do less than 20k steps per day even on days off, but can appreciate that if you have to work at a desk and earn a living it can be very challenging.

      Hi Euan, long time!
Yes, if you have to sit all day for work, it can become comfortable, and difficult to break out of that comfort zone. Not helped by some companies allowing food to be ordered and delivered to people's desks at lunch and snack time.

Ever since I purchased an apple iwatch I’ve been aware of not moving every hour and always now close the circles of energy, exercise and standing. And always get annoyed if I miss a hour.

Very helpful, Vince! I have had noticeable improvements in overall energy and sleep when I am much more active. I've found that even doing 5 minutes on the treadmill early in the morning, with a couple minutes of it being high intensity, really help with energy throughout the day. I sometimes do it a couple times a day, plus other activities (walking, projects, using a rebounder, etc.).

Hi Holly, I'm the same, up at 6 to walk the dog, and then even a good run or session in the gym sets me up for the day; I seem far more energized.

I'm suspicious of all these so called "activity" studies. I want to see an intervention that proves results. It could simply be people who are healthier are just more active. Not because of it.

What are the devices you use to track your sitting vs. standing times?
