At least Batiatus wasn’t a misogynist and didn’t mistreat women.

I imagine the character Melitta would have something to say about that. Admittedly, that is from the prequel season Gods of the Arena. There's also the entire ploy of having Spartacus' wife Sura killed in front of him to incentivize him to fight for Batiatus.

@@MoviesWeDig Yes, but he never disrespected a woman’s autonomy in terms of not sexually assaulting or abusing his women slaves.

He enslaved women. That is, by definition, robbing a woman of her autonomy. And specifically with Melitta, Batiatus FORCED her to have sex with Gannicus for Varis' entertainment so that HE could secure the position of primus for Gannicus in the upcoming games.

@@MoviesWeDig Yes but he wasn’t a rapist himself, so he still was better than most of the Roman men in the show.

@@Alex-bs1iu Unfortunately, that is not the argument you presented in your original comment. Evidence shows that Batiatus DID mistreat women in the show. But to be fair, Gannicus was ALSO forced to have sex by Batiatus for the entertainment of others. Batiatus mistreats his male and female slaves (and many others) in the show. So maybe he's not a misogynist, but a misanthropist.
