I've been doing my training hikes with 40 pounds, so I know what those packs feel like...so fxcking heavy! On the plus side, your packs will only get lighter. Good luck out there!
Looks like you are off to a good start. Taking it slow and easy for now and getting maximum enjoyment out ol these early days is a good idea. Today's San Jacinto Trail Report indicated four foot of snow at Annie's Junction with five feet on the peak. Reallv enjoyed your video! Thank you for taking us along! Be safe; keep at it!
The beautiful flowering shrub at 4:26 is Ceanothus (see-a-no-thus). They are common plants of this chaparral habitat. San Diego County has 20 different species of Ceanothus. Chaparral (not desert) makes up most of the PCT in southern California. However, you'll still be encountering it all the way into southern Oregon.

There is an import tax on the rock you took from Mexico , but we see you at lesser declared it. 👍🏼 good luck on your trip.
Use that “bounce box” system so you do not need to Cary so much
