    Attention people: During the part where I'm adjusting the start & end point. I forgot to mention using shift + turning the value knob moves the increments by 1000x. Shift + turning the crtl 3 knob moves it by 100x. Thanks for watching! Time stamps built-in the video..

    The MV-1 seems to share some of the same strengths and weaknesses as the MC707. The sound selection from Roland is awesome, but the sampling can leave a lot to be desired. I got the 707 back when you were talking about the price difference from US to UK. It is not a bad machine and you can do everything with it. The problem is there are better priced options with better features and workflows. I really think this is a design team issue. These are not the same people who built the MV8000/8800 in the early 2000s.

    • @AveMcree
      @AveMcree  3 года назад +5

      Well, I'm not quick to jump on certain groove boxes due to those issues (which aren't exclusive to Roland btw). It took me 3 years to buy the current generation MPC's. 2 years to finally decide on Machine series. The real struggle is giving them the time they deserve lol.

    • @omannpro
      @omannpro 3 года назад +3

      @@AveMcree Right, I literally had to unplug my MPC in order to give the 707 a fair shot. I was about to pack it up and send it back. But once I got over the expectation of an Akai experience in a Roland box, I was able to see the machine for what it could do.

    Bro great video as always. I noticed how you cut the video at the spot where you had to trim the sample and it instantly brought me back to the mid 90's and recording with the vs880! There is entirely to much knob twisting for me, just to justify its only real distinguishing feature.....the built in mic. you even mention 15-20 yr old mpcs in comparison! A 1x2 inch screen in 2021!!! Im glad i bought the mpc one all over again! basically the same price with a touch screen and computer integration across multiple DAWS!?!. in your honest opinion if you had to make 1 beat to save your life which would you choose? The feature i like the most on it is the possibility to record vocal on it, also it don't seem to be that much engaging when it comes to sample.
    Yes MPC live 2 is tempting but really too much fonctionality and complexity for me. ( i m just a lil keyboarder, and a liler guitarist )
    So i was thinking why not edit your sample in Audacity ( love it for that, so simple 'n quick and..." free " ) then import them into the MV ?

    I just bought the MV1 and started with the manual but it kept sending me back and forth with the pages that made it very difficult learn anything! So I came to the tube and found you! I create music very quickly and I needed a device that can keep up! In other words I find the MV1 to be very slow as to how many steps it takes to do a simple task? The measure thing is frustrating having to set them for every pad! One thing I found strange was me following your steps and performing them along side the video, when a problem arose as to the preview button for the sample was not the load button that you pressed, it was the copy button instead and I don't know how to go further from this point. I even factory reset the machine and came to the same problem. Help?

      Every groove box has it's advantages & disadvantages. The latest MPC series (like all the past one) excel in sampling (seeing AKAI basically birthed that style). The Roland MV-1 excels at stock effects & sounds (basically what Roland's done right for decades). The Maschine Plus excels at sounds.. Overall, the MV-1 isn't bad for sampling but it's not as good as the MPC series (yet)... IMO, I wouldn't pick the MV-1 over my MPC's if we're talking about just sampling. However, it can do it..
