Yo guys, welcome to Varanasi, India’s city where people come to die. Varanasi is considered India's holiest city and one of the oldest cities in the world. It is located at the holy river Ganga and is more than 10,000 years old.Every day, the dying arrive in Varanasi. These people - primarily Hindus - come to Varanasi, hoping that by dying and being cremated there, they can break out of the Hindu rebirth cycle and attain salvation. The place where all these cremations and burning ceremonies take place, is the Manikarnika Ghat. According to Hindu mythology, Manikarnika Ghat is believed to be the place where the either the earring or eye of Sati fell down when Lord Shiva was carrying her to the Himalaya. Manikarnika Ghat is one of the holiest among the sacred river fronts, alongside the river Ganga. Enjoy!
