I can’t get over how much our government has changed over the years. I lived thru hurricane Agnes in 1972. The dikes broke on the River and everyone living close to the Susquehanna River were flooded. Once the floodwaters were gone, President Nixon got HUD involved and they sent trailers and campers for people to live in while renovating their flooded homes. We got money to help with repairs and for clothing and shoes. This hurricane did a lot more damage and it remains to be seen what the government will do. What about Palestine, Ohio and Lahaina, Hawaii ? They got nothing! It’s a different country today.

We bought land about 5 years ago and I'm so happy I'm not in the mountains now. They have wildfires, flash floods in burn scar areas, now this is the North Carolina. I was thinking people could go in and get people and bring them out but if you could find a road in trees would be down the entire way and power lines.

I'm in S. Carolina near the coast and wasn't affected by Helene. Watching reports from upstate SC and N. Carolina, Tennessee is just heartbreaking. Praying for everyone in those areas.
I have a friend who lives in Boone, and she had to hike several miles to get a signal to communicate. She said it is an apocalyptic scene.
