  • Thanks, Schell Fabian for allowing me to copy your tutorial. Here is a link to her channel. / babytweetums
The paper sizes you will need are as follows:
The paper that makes your pad cover is 8 3/8" wide by 5 1/4" tall score it on the 8 4/8" length on 3 5/8", 4" and 4 3/8"
To decorate the cover, you will need three of the following:
Plain color paper that matches your patterned paper (but is a different color than your cover) 3 1/2" x 5 1/8" tall and
three of patterned papers that are 3 3/8" x 5" tall
You'll need a strap to hold the tablet and that is the same color as your folder color and is 4 3/4" x 2" tall
Plus you'll need some sort of embellishments for the front
After scoring your paper, on the right side of the paper that is longer than the left, make a mark so you know this is where your tablet will go. This will save you some confusion later on.
Next, fold it on the center fold and cut two snips with the first about 1 1/2" from the top cutting into the score line you can see. You will make another cut to the score line about 1/2" below the first cut. This will make your pen holder.
Next, open your folder and fold on the last score line and close it. Your folder should be much longer on the back than on the front. This is correct. Next take your score tape and run a line of it down the length between the second and third score lines but omitting the section that will be your pen holder. Fold your back cover over and rub to make sure your tape adheres. Next fold on your center fold and stick your finger on the inside and push out the pen holder. Take the paper that is 4 3/4 x 2" and fold the edges around your paper pad. Put score tape on the back of the folded over edges.. Make sure you can pull your pad out so it can be replaced before you adhere it to the inside. Now adhere it where you made the mark for the paper pad and press firmly.
Take your three sets of papers and attach the patterned paper to the plain colored paper and then adhere one to the front and one to the inside cover and one to the back.
You should be able to find the paper pads at the Dollar Tree and the pens as well. Thanks for watching!

Hi, I have watched so so many videos on making these covers for the Dollar Tree notepads and yours is the BEST! You made it simple! Thanks 😊

Marilyn, I found your comment! So glad you liked this tutorial. I really love making covered note pads and have done a bunch of them, as well as covering Dollar Tree planners. I have a whole playlist of covered note pads and think there should be others you might want to make for your craft fair...Good luck with the fair...hope it's a great success. Sandy

I've watched a ton of videos on how to decorate these different size tablets and you explained it so beautiful. I'm not a fancy crafter and sometimes the demonstrators get me totally confused
with all of their technical jibbering, but I could follow you perfectly! I love your sense of humor too! I constantly make mistakes, like putting the front page decorations on the back, you know, but it's all fun! I know that this is an old video so I hope that you get this message and that you are still crafting. Thanks for making this easy. Don't worry about saying "then" too much. Mine is "And then", so I understand! lol Stay safe.....

I'm SO glad you can follow my instructions. When I started making crafts, I would get so frustrated when YTers would refer to cards as A2 instead of giving me the dimensions, so I try not to do that.. So happy you make the same mistakes as I make, because I make a lot of them...I made a perpetual birthday calendar video and the second part of that video, I made SO many mistakes that at one point I almost start to cry, because I punched the holes on the back cover on the wrong side, and there's no going back once you do that, haha...Hope you give this mini pad cover a try, as it turns out great every time. I love covering note pads and have a bunch of videos showing ideas I've come up with for them (inserting mini post-it-note pads and making fun decorated paper clips.) Let me know if you have an idea for a video you'd like me to cover. saundralparker@yahoo.com Sandy

I love listening to you. I had a really hard time figuring out the cover(glued it on inside out) because, I too, am not "mechanical"! Identifying the inside of the pad at the beginning saves lots of gluing mistakes. Thanks!

I gave up on the "and then", so now I just go with it. I now have a problem with stopping and starting and saying "OK" when I start again, but luckily, Rich edits that out. If I didn't have him, my videos would be frightening... I have a ton of border punches but rarely use them as I forget about tools until I remember them again. I'll try to use one in an upcoming video for you. Here's a video I made recently and used a really cool border punch and gave the name in one of the comments ruclips.net/video/71Emu9IM_s8/видео.html

I actually just saw some of these note pads in other colors at a store called Big Lots here in my town. I am going to get some to make for gifts to have on hand for when I need a quick something. I would love to see the post-it note version too. Love the bow bunch and how nicely you decorated yours up. I had no trouble at all with your explanation. You worry too much! :)

+Kay Myers Thanks Kay, I'll make the post it note holder as well for you. I really appreciate you saying it was easy to follow and hope you'll send me a photo when you make yours. I've never seen these pads at my Big Lots but always find them at the Dollar Tree. Schell finds her gel pens at her Party Supply store so if you don't have a Dollar Tree, you might have a Party Supply store nearby. email me your photo at saundralparker@yahoo.com. Thanks for being so sweet about my explanations and for your lovely comments.

+Karen CrookedFingersCraft Glad you liked it. I only used my punch once before this video and I think it needs sharpened because it wasn't super easy to punch. I'm definitely going to use some aluminum foil on mine. I like how much easier this punch is verses a die for the same bow.

I hope you find other ideas to either add to the one you like, or maybe you like a different style better. I can't find the small pens at the Dollar Tree any more, but you can usually find them in "Party City" or other places that offer small prizes for gifts, like small pens. Hope I gave you more ideas..And if you ever run into any problems with how to do anything, please send me an email and I'd be happy to help...saundralparker@yahoo.com
