I was unemployed for about 7 months last year. Once my stamp ran out they had me on €110 a week Job seekers allowance. Lads in the Q ahead of me at the post office leaving their slips behind, some receiving €600 a week, no joke. Imagine that.. after working 15 years straight (manufacturing engineer) paying taxes that's what I get €110 a week. Yet off the boat you get €130ish. Joke shop this country. Glad to be back working though the job is terrible (still not employed in my qualified discipline yet) so had to take anything.. it was unlivable to keep looking.. but it's an eye opener and I'm still looking. Cheap imported labour to keep wages down and force qualified workers out.. that's all this is.
