Awesome. Ritchie Blackmore's subtle lead guitar work weaving in and out of this track is a thing of beauty. Of course, Jon Lord's keyboard work speaks for itself.
One of your best productions. Written by Grammy Award-winning legend Joe South of Atlanta for his good friend Billy Joe Royal, a fellow Georgia good ol' boy. Royal's version sailed into the Top 100 during the autumn of 1967. One of several tunes South penned for Royal in the 1960s, including "Down In The Boondocks" and "I Knew You When" in 1965. South & Royal have both since passed away. I always enjoyed the great cover version of "Hush" by Deep Purple from the late summer of 1968. Thanks for the great effort in giving us this fine version.
Chaplain, forgot all about the Billy Joe royal version. This version although really I like Royal, is the best. I included this video on my eclectic music playlist filled with classics & hidden gems, all era's & styles. I think because of your music knowledge you & all will enjoy. New songs added daily! :) ruclips.net/p/PL240940E21E6C83E3
The sounds pretty Kick-Ass coming out of my Behringer 500w acoustic PA right at this moment.. crazy I could hear every instrument perfectly with this new enhancement👍
I can't believe how absolutely GREAT this classic sounds! I've always loved the song, but wished the low-end "mud" was cleaned up and refined. So, "check", and "check"! I listened through a couple of different sets of headphones and EACH sounded SO refined/defined! This is more like what should have been put out, what, 50 years ago?
Big difference on this one, for sure. As you usually do, improved stereo separation and enhancement of percussion, in particular. So many of these records from the 60s were mixed for AM radio. "Underground" progressive FM rock stereo didn't exist until just after this was released. In fact, The Marconi Experiment on WMMR in Philadelphia (the station I worked at for 20 years), which helped launch "underground rock" radio, was born literally just eight days after this single was released. The reproduction capability of AM mono forced producers to push bottom end and vocals lest they get lost in the mix, since high end frequencies were favored by the AM signal, so recordings from the time tend to be muddy and lack definition in guitars and percussion. You brought that out in a way that the record might have been produced later on (and they did do a recording in 1988 with Ian Gillan on vocals and Roger Glover on bass). It certainly never sounded this crisp when we played it on the radio!
Wow, I listened to WMMR a lot! I had lunch with Dave Herman (known just as Herman). The station had a contest that I won. The prize was the album "Are You Experienced". Good memories!
@@Cissy2cute Excellent! He was a bit before my time - I started at WMMR in 1978 - but we were still "free form progressive" at the time ( we picked all our own music). That was gone by the end of the year and was gone from commercial radio forever.
Hey Larry! I'm busy and with 500 videos on RUclips I just can't read many of the comments but I just saw this one that you worked at WMMR which I listened to like back and forth on the FM from WIFi 92. I loved listening to FM and then one day they removed it from the cable. That pissed me off! I wish we had wave files to record those broadcasts from the 70's. I loved the WMMR commercials like the WMM-ARSENAL commercial that sound like a cross between an atomic explosion and jet engine. Outrageously cool and classy stuff came out of that era. Kenn
@@cinematic35 Wow, Kenn, thank you. Yes, I started on the air at WMMR in 1978. I arrived just in time to be part of the last few months of freeform commercial radio. Then things got crazy. The 80s were quite a heady time. We weren't just the #1 station in Philly, we were arguably the #1 rock station in the country based on ratings and population. By the time I left in 1996 I'd been there for almost 18 years - longer than any DJ in their history at the time. I became a record producer after that. We did aircheck a lot of our shows onto cassette or DAT tapes. I have a few lying around somewhere. I think there are also some RUclips compilations that people taped off the air. Nothing like it will ever happen again. Thanks so much for the kind words! It means so much to me. I get more pleasure out of your channel than any other on RUclips (and I comment as often as I can). Thanks again!
Interesting, THE tune that secured DP as my favorite hard rock band throughout their career. But you should not have omitted the spooky atmospheric entrance wolf howling at the moon.
Sounds real nice but it will always be the monotonous fragment made from a fragment from the Beatles, 'Day in the Life' and Jimi Hendrix's 'Crosstown Traffic'.
Gotta love the Hammond B3, what a beast of a keyboard especially with the Leslie speaker, always had my heart and still does.
Awesome. Ritchie Blackmore's subtle lead guitar work weaving in and out of this track is a thing of beauty. Of course, Jon Lord's keyboard work speaks for itself.
I was 15 when this came out. I thought I was in music heaven! A couple of years later I got "Led Zeppt!
My favorite Deep Purple song thanks for the good work Auckland New Zealand 2022
1973 Swing Auditorium San Bernardino California... My first concert was Deep Purple. They brought the house down.
Love that funky sound. Thank you!
Fantastic cover song by The Purple. How bad ass is Jon Lord on the Hammond Organ? A genius
It's a cover??!!! My life is a lie :(

A time machine back to the 11th grade in Houston, Texas ... most excellent, Kenn! Keep 'em coming!
Sorry if I'm making too many comments but I'm memorized by your channel. Thanks for posting this incredible song!!!!!!
"Turn up everything louder than everything else!"... great job, Kenn, on cleaning up / improving on this classic Purple jam! \m/
I bought this record when I was 19 in 1968 great group always loved their music.
Thanks so much for doing this song. it never has sounded so full. Super job!
WOW! Listening thru my headset the instruments just popped. Much appreciated! Great job!
The muddiness is gone...amazing!. Glas you edited out the howls at the start. The extra instrumentation worked like fairy dust,,,,,whoa!
Kenn, again your magic to this timeless classic is monumental. Well done sir.
I was surprised to learn that this was written by Joe South. This song introduced me to the bass guitar...
Nicely done!

luv what you did!!!
Thanks for advancing the listening cause with extra high quality (enhanced) versions of the music.
One of my faves from back in the day. Thank you!
This is really good. I am totally diggin it. More rock songs enhanced please.
Mr.. Ritchie Blackmore.... My ultimate favourite... Deep Purple Mrk 2 ... What A Rock Band... Best in My opinion...❤
Play it ....LOUD
👍👍
Oh, yeah, louder the better!
This is one awesome song.
One of my all time faves. Great job!
Sounded great in 1968 and still sounds great in 2020! Joe South composition reworked.
Wow! Memories! 2020
Hush….. you have a new subscriber
Definitely a sixties classic from a transformative decade!
I used to love it when I was a kid and they'd segue this song with Magic Carpet Ride!
It has that atmospheric effect not unlike the Moody Blues's "Ride My See Saw." Very vast, fast and expansive production!
Wow. This is like taking soap to something dirty. Great song already, but polished up and made more beautiful!
AWESOME
This sounds like you collected the infinity gems of Marvel and flow the power to this track.
Gracias por esta JOYA!!! 🙏😊🥰🔝
What happened to the howl’in wolf?
Still a classic and sounds 👏 awesome!👍😃
Wow, perfection!
WE want our wolf HOWL.Thanks

fantastic improvement
I didnt hear the wolf at the beggining 😞
I was looking for a version of this song that doesn't have those 6 seconds in the beginning of straining your ears to barely hear the wolf howling
Rip Kenn.
Great job, Ken, however I noticed that you forgot to include the two wolf howls in the beginning of this song !
Excellent !!
THE MUSIC ENHANCEMENT CHANNEL: ¡¡¡QUEREMOS ROOOOOOOOCK!!! JAJAJAJAJA, echach chon de mich tiempoch. Un abrazo
Where is the howling!!!
never really fit in my opinion
Amazing
WOW!!

Oh yeah... need to hear this in HDCD
El audio de lo mejor 😮
WE LOST THE WOLF HOWLINGS !!!
Would you consider enhancing "In-a-gada-da-vida" by Iron Butterfly?
I think drums sound is not so clean. I don't know if it could have done better but good work indeed.
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!!!!!
Love em stacks...them Marshalls...
It would have been nice if you have had enhanced also THE HOWLING!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
What happened to the howling, slightly limp-wristed-sounding coyote at the beginning?
I love this tune. You did a great job enhancing it. I have a request. Can you do king of clowns by neil Sedaka for an enhancement please
Seriously, how are you enhancing these classic hits?
You must be a Studio engineer right?
Rod Evans was their best vocalist.....imo.
Written by Joe South, 1968.
Just great. Almost liquid.
👍
O ya!!!!!!!
Sounds real nice but it will always be the monotonous fragment made from a fragment from the Beatles, 'Day in the Life' and Jimi Hendrix's 'Crosstown Traffic'.
I don't hear what you're talking about...10/10 track
Shula Maker made a complete mess of this.. You dont touch perfection
You don't need the added rhythm guitar.
That's why it's enhanced....things it doesn't need but doesn't hurt to have.
Ikusbide
