I adored John Denver. I was so sad when he died. It is 2024 and I am feeling sad and nostalgic thinking of the people I have lost to death in the past and will in the future. I am creating a mix for myself of grieving songs that I am in the mood to listen to from time to time. This is one day after we lost Toby Keith to Cancer. This is 9 months after losing my mom to dementia. Wow...30 yrs since we lost John Denver. So many people dying from Covid...but none of mine thankfully...but so many did. Life is for the Living...with room for the Grieving that we will all go thru someday too often. Hold your loved ones tight.
Agreed, well said, John's pure sweet voice still moves me like no other. He was just too good for this world, I'll always miss him💔 & always cherish his music as a precious gift💖🤟🏼✌🏼
He became my best friend when i was 13, in the 70’s, i was lonely and suicidal and John Denver’s music brought me peace and comfort. I was blessed to see him in concert in Oregon a month before his passing, it was like spending the evening with an old friend. And now at 60 years old, his music is a happy and comforting memory of my younger days. I love you, John Denver 💖
My memories of John Denver wonderful music as we travelled in our car in 4 hour journeys to a weekend cottage. I filled my bag with spare batteries so we could play th he taped I had done on my much prized Thorn Radio Cassette player. The children loved John Denver as we did and would sing along till they fell asleep. I always find his voice so relaxing and the sincerity of his words made a wonderful peace in my heart. Thank you for all your amazing music over all these years.
I learned to play guitar with a song book of Johm Denvers greatest hits. I was struggling back then too. Music has been my saving grace. I am your same age and Music isn't Music anymore.

It turns out he was a drunk who beat his wives and verbally abused many of his secretaries to the point of tears, and had no friends. Not sure he's in Heaven, but...?

@@SharonMcwilliams78 He didn't find his way just fine if he physically abused his wives and brought his assistants constantly to tears. He should have recognized from these behaviors that he neeed therapy, and sought it. I have trauma. I have early life trauma as defined by the American Academy of Pediatrics. It has led to quite a few trauma responses in my emotions and behaviors. I have sought talk therapy, neurofeedback therapy, and brainspotting therapy (the latter two being among the ideal therapies for trauma suffered at the preverbal stage of child development). And I've done nothing of the type that John Denver did. My biological family background (I'm adopted) had alcoholism in it. I stayed away from the stuff even before I learned that. My adoptive mother had a cousin who was addicted to alcohol. Her stories were sufficient to keep me away from wanting to ever become reliant upon drink. Why did Denver turn to alcohol and abuse to deal with whatever traumas he had suffered, instead of seeking therapy? Certainly, he was a very wealthy man and could afford any type of therapy he wanted. My neurofeedback therapy was $250 and out-of-network, AND our insurance company doesn't cover it at all. So we paid $1000/month for it for 10 months till the therapist felt I was ready to stop treatment. It was a huge sacrifice. Why didn't Denver do something better with his trauma than hurt his wives and terrorize them and the people who worked for him, devoting their lives to following him around the world and serving him? Being away from their families? Why couldn't he be better, since he sang a lot about living a good life? Yes, I adore his music! I also adore the music of Richard Wagner, who nevertheless wrote operas championing German nationalism and whose music was utilized ubitiquously by Adolf Hitler, who idolized it. I do separate the man and the music. But, look at the comments down below. "He is an angel." "He is singing in Heaven." We don't earn Heaven. But if we did earn Heaven, it wouldn't be through skilled composing and singing. It would be by the quality of human being we are. I'm just saying people here are exactly not separating the music and the man, and are idolizing the man because of his angelic music. He was nothing but a hypocrite, just like many of the hypocrite priests and preachers who have lived secretly detestable lives unbeknownst to their supporters and followers. I was in a cafe on Galway's main street when I spotted John, and his band chatting, laughing, over coffe. They were having a golly good time touring Ireland, singing in venues throughout the country. I heard John say. "I'll get this guys." And went to the counter. I cease my opportunity and walked over to him and shook his hand and said, "I love your music, John; you have the most beautiful voice." First, he was amazed, then came that big broad John Dever smile, a smile, that melts your heart when you hear birds singing on a warm sunny day. That moment will stay with me untill I die.
I was just a kid when I met him through his music - my sister and zi would jump on our parents’ bed to “Grama’s Feather Bed” - when he and Annie divorced, I cried. We used Annie’s Song at our wedding. It was the soul, the love, and the beautiful spirit I will always keep in my heart. This song will be at my own Celebration of Life. I hope to meet you, John, in the wild hereafter.
I saw JD in concert in 1972 in Illinois before he was very famous. There were only about 20 people attending. He called us all up on stage and played for a couple of hours , we listened sang along and talked. It was magical. His music changed my life. I cried all day when I learned of his death. He is still a part of my life and has filled it with love and light for all these years.
John Denver was the most caring, loving, respectful, kind hearted, talented man God Blessed this world with! I believe he is with our Lord bringing joy to all who pass over from this world to God's Heaven! John Denver blessed everyone who listened to his songs he wrote from his heart❤️
Choked me up at .28 when he said "finished in my lifetime". John left us all too soon less than 4 years later in 1997 but left us these precious songs.
My life was a living nightmare in the 70s. He kept me alive. I was born a nature and animal lover in my soul and the abuse, hunger, neglect tried to destroy every inch of my soul. His words and music saved my life. Reminded me who I was. The day he died was devastating for many of us. Thank the angels he left us his heart in his music, a legacy of love and guidance through humanities chaos
I was 13 years old and trying to deal with the death of my mother to cancer. John's music was there a very powerful force of peace to me and has remained so through the years ! God rest your soul John!!!
I'm very impressed. I'm 75 and only had a few lessons on my 6-string acoustic guitar. I taught myself how to pick, and I've been teaching myself after that. God bless you for your musical talent.
I'm 68 and my dad taught me to play guitar when I was about 14. He and I used to sing and play together, mostly folk music. Miss those days, miss my daddy....
I am in my mid 60's and have loved John and his music since my early teens. I was heartbroken when he passed. The world lost an awesome artist that day. At least we still have his music.❤❤
I was honored to hear John in concert twice . He was amazing and his voice was so beautiful. Thankfully we can still hear him through his recordings. Rest in peace
Mr Denver you got me through high school with your BEAUTIFUL voice and verses I felt empty when you passed I still listen to you till this day. Rest in peace my friend till we meet ✌❤🙏
Beautiful and John sings it with all his heart and soul. I remember the day he died and I was so heartbroken. He is very much missed and how sad he was so young.
Most amazing underrated voice ever. This is one of my favourite of his songs. He sang so many memorable songs that never became hits except with his ardent fans. Those are my favourites. Especially the songs he sang about Alaska.
Still feel 'the sunshine on my shoulder' and 'perhaps love' is filling my heart, thinking of this great musician whenever i hear or see him sing.thankfull about to live in a time, where technic supplies let him be with us😊
He was and is such a spiritual being. I saw him in Brighton UK Many years ago. He performed The Lords Prayer Having just spent time with an Indian Tribe. 🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
JOHN a wonderful human being who flew to the home of Heaven on the wings of an eagle 🦅!! 😢 But FOREVER in our Hearts 💕!! We never alone!! With love ❤️ and peace!! Isa from Italy
Sometimes, just sometimes we get a glimpse of what heaven must sound like. That’s what I hear when I listen to John Denver and the beautiful voice. The world was a better place for him having been in it.
Twenty six years ago I owned a newsagents shop here in the UK. I will never forget receiving the evening newspaper for that day and on the front was a picture and headline saying he had died. A light went off inside me. Privileged to see him perform live on several occasions. This song sums up my belief in life and will one day be played at my funeral. As Annie said at an Earth Day memorial concert “John was a truly beautiful man”.
I have always loved Annie's Song and Country Roads and Rocky Mountain High. I had never heard this beautiful song❤️ before- my favorite now, from a mature John Denver. This feels like his chef d'oeuvre.
Such a spiritual & moving song. Great choice for being the last song played at his memorial/funeral. Fly high, John! There's so many that still love you & your music. 💖👏🎶🎸🌹🌍🐋🐦🌞✈💎💖
As much as I thought I knew about John before his untimely passage into death, I had not known about this story or song before. With all of John's songs playing for the masses, this one stands out as the most powerful song he ever sang. And then,.....there's his voice that can set your feet upon the earth or lift you above the clouds. At damn near the same time. ❤
My first concert. He was at Poplar Creek in Illinois. I went to his concerts multiple times; beautiful music with a full orchestra or him alone with a guitar.

It was the soul, the love, and the beautiful spirit I will always keep in my heart. This song will be at my own Celebration of Life. I hope to meet you, John, in the wild hereafter.
I listened to many songs and many musicians, but John's voice is like angelic music, it always gives me strength and peace of mind!❤
That is beautiful. Thank you for sharing that encounter. ❤️😊
Feeling the harmonics & frequencies connecting with my heart🩵
Never heard this song before. It's beautiful!!! ❤❤❤
What a voice with just his guitar and a beautiful song.
This song made my blood run cold....Beautiful ❣️ Thank you for sharing 💗🎵💗✨️
A great loss. An amazing voice. Unique. There was and will only be one John Denver. Gone too soon😢
Iv loved his voice , and music since the first time I heard J. Denver sing. I always will. He sings with the Angels I think. ❤

I always like his music il❤ music with meaning RIP John im sure you are singing with the Angels in Heaven...😢
His music is so moving, it brings me to tears. The world lost a great man that day long ago. He strived to make the world a better place.
John Denver was the most caring, loving, respectful, kind hearted, talented man God Blessed this world with! I believe he is with our Lord bringing joy to all who pass over from this world to God's Heaven! John Denver blessed everyone who listened to his songs he wrote from his heart❤️
John was a beautiful soul, too beautiful for the world we live in today, I hope we will all meet him again one day ❤
Choked me up at .28 when he said "finished in my lifetime". John left us all too soon less than 4 years later in 1997 but left us these precious songs.
I had the same. A bit prophetic, perhaps.
@JohnsonMoris-rf1ff. Perver t
What a beautiful song. When the world is going crazy….this is very meaningful.
Amen. ✨️
I got to live my high school years with John Denver. What a wonderful time.
Eternally grateful for his music. ❤
This has always been my favorite song by John. Peace to all love to all!!!💞🙏
Yes ❤ just beautiful ❤and to you ❤️
My life was a living nightmare in the 70s.
💜
I was 13 years old and trying to deal with the death of my mother to cancer. John's music was there a very powerful force of peace to me and has remained so through the years ! God rest your soul John!!!
Still loved, still missed, never forgotten. Life’s not the same now
The second I hear his beautiful voice I break into tears. ❤
I can play three albums of his music on my 12-string guitar what an inspiration in my life. I'm 61 now but I've been a musician 55 years of my life
Same here! It's why I got my first 12 string years ago. First song I played was Poems, Prayers, and Promises. ❤️
Beautiful. What a great way to keep his heart and music among us. Thank you.
He had a stunningly beautiful voice. So full of love and emotion.😢❤
Love you John and I sure miss your music. Thank you.
I was honored to hear John in concert twice . He was amazing and his voice was so beautiful. Thankfully we can still hear him through his recordings. Rest in peace

Beautifully done, he had one inn a million voice
Most amazing underrated voice ever. This is one of my favourite of his songs. He sang so many memorable songs that never became hits except with his ardent fans. Those are my favourites. Especially the songs he sang about Alaska.
Hi dianne how are you doing today 😊
I cry for the loss of this rare talent each time I hear his voice! I also celebrate that I was alive to hear it! ❤😢
This man touched my soul with his music & died way too young! His music will live forever though, and what a legacy he left!!!

Sometimes, just sometimes we get a glimpse of what heaven must sound like. That’s what I hear when I listen to John Denver and the beautiful voice. The world was a better place for him having been in it.
We still miss the greatest country man ever john denver what a legendary musician 🎤🎸one of the best 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I listen to John Denver daily, never gets old.
John was and is my favorite singer of all time. His music has been a comfort and a friend to my soul.
He is my favorite singer too.
“My Sweet Lady” is my favorite song of all time too.
The passion in his voice still touches my very soul
Twenty six years ago I owned a newsagents shop here in the UK. I will never forget receiving the evening newspaper for that day and on the front was a picture and headline saying he had died. A light went off inside me. Privileged to see him perform live on several occasions. This song sums up my belief in life and will one day be played at my funeral. As Annie said at an Earth Day memorial concert “John was a truly beautiful man”.
Yes he was the most beautiful singer that when u listen to him sing he touches your soul he is very much missed
This man had mastered the Art of Word pictures. I could always see through his eyes and feel through his heart
This is absolutely touching
I have always loved Annie's Song and Country Roads and Rocky Mountain High.
I had never heard this beautiful song❤️ before- my favorite now, from a mature John Denver. This feels like his chef d'oeuvre.
Such a Beautiful Man and and Beautiful singer with amazing songs ,so meaningful and full of heart and Soul ❤❤
Wow this is why I love John Denver. I miss his songs and his glory! P.C
Saw him in concert many times. He was a perfect gentleman and gracious person.
I loved John Denver's music 🎶 ♥ when I was a teenager. I still adore his voice and what he left us with! ❤
Listening to this beautiful voice and crying. Such a loss to this world ❤
