Hi Polyx, we're listening. We appreciate how your criticism comes from a place of caring, enjoying our games, and wanting us to do better. There's a lot we're working on, so we're taking notes on your concerns to improve moving forward. Hopefully our future projects will give you the kind of experience you've been missing. Thank you for taking the time to read us your letter! Ribbit.
I agree with almost all of these points! - Speed up is good. I think the reason it was never added is because it IH is of the opinion waves are supposed to be interesting even at normal speed, but this just clearly isn't the case given the massive skill difference in various players, and the general KRV wave design lel. Slow down imo should not count towards game progress and only be used for practice, else you remove the skill from having to think fast. - Yes please mute hero voice lines as option. - Skipping cutscenes - in KRO at least, restarting the level makes you able to perform actions during the cutscene, but I'm not certain if you can call the wave already. I feel like making this happen on every attempt rather than only on restarts would solve the problem mostly, since you usually take a few seconds to build at the start of a level anyway. - Hotkeys for e.g. barracks rally - I think barracks rally makes sense to be mouse button 3, 4, or 5, or similar (I think 3 is clicking the scroll wheel but please correct me if I'm wrong - most mice have that and it's unused currently). I would also really like customisable hotkeys. Just let me choose which key is used for spells and hero and such. - Totally agree on wave design. For anyone interested in some examples of shit wave design in the first two games: Rotten Forest heroic, Dark Tower heroic, Rotwick, Bonesburg. - I agree balance is a massive issue. I don't agree that multiple roles for one tower is necessarily an issue, but it is really hard to balance that in such a way that it is sometimes a good pick, and sometimes the set of two distinct towers is better. Some heroes are also way too good or way too shite, yes. - 100% the RNG in upgrades, god I hate it so much. And star upgrades were indeed so much better than the always full rewards soul point upgrades. - Please please just do some balance changes on earlier games. It doesn't need to be much more than editing some numbers. People have analysed so much about these games and it's well known and agreed upon which towers and heroes are truly very bad or very good. It's easy enough to tune down some numbers and improve balance. Sure, it won't fix all issues as some things aren't just numbers, but it's a nice gesture to the community, improves the gameplay experience, makes the community more engaged because they feel like IH actually care, and isn't too much work. - The challenge editor isn't necessarily a bad idea. The only thing it needs to make it work is restrictions that are not possible in standard gameplay, like BTD6 also does. E.g. enemy speed, damage, hp multipliers, cooldown multipliers, custom starting gold, start and end wave of the challenge. I was under the impression that such things would be added later on but I have not seen any activity around it really. Currently, it only allows you to bypass level restrictions, like the iron challenge tower restrictions, and which level 4's are unlocked on a stage. - What I heard was that Junkworld was either going to be scrapped completely or released on Apple Arcade. Given that choice, I think IH did well. They just should never have ended up at that choice, because pitching the game idea should have immediately shut down most of the poor decisions in that game like energy system and lootboxes.
I agree with most of this. On the potentially bright side of things, I know they eventually released Legends of Kingdom Rush on Steam roughly a year after it was put on Apple Arcade. So we could *potentially* see it else where in the future which is what I'm hopeful for at this point.
By seeing the very diverging design philosophies from games like the first 3 KRs and KRV, as well as Iron Marines, KRH and Junkworld, not to mention the big chasm in monetization strategies, I suspect that there are different factions in the company that are pulling the studio in opposing directions. If that is true, it would explain some of the stagnation, slow releases and lack of progression for the studio. I can't be sure that it is the case for Ironhide, but I've seen it multiple times in game studios, and it led to similar consequences.
I believe the issue is that Ironhide has grown a lot in terms of personal, so to pay all the checks, they need to monetise their games as much as possible. They have several teams on several different projects, so that's probably the reason why some games play so different compared to others (for example, LoKR feels so much better than KRV).
@@elfaro4029 yeah, that is certainly a factor too. What they've accomplished is amazing, growing such a successful studio, out of Uruguay no less! I'm just frustrated that with the amazing game design that they created with the first couple games, they haven't been able to ship more game. I dream of a world where Ironhide is the Blizzard of Latin America. And I'm talking about golden age Blizzard.
Ironhide should really do a remastered version for Kingdom Rush at this point. More towers, more levels, more enemies, update the Heroes in KR so they have multiple abilities like in other KR games... That would be super huge and exciting!

Mouse buttons 4 and 5 are secondary hero and Durax copies, but 3 would be decent for rally point. Q would also be good. Fuck items or make them A.
@@elfaro4029 actually shop items already have a shortcut, F1-F6 iirc
@@PolyxTheWise Q is the hotkey for the full bag, F1-F6 is for the individual items.

Yes! :) I'm not sure if they would ever remaster the game but it'd be incredible if they did.

I think modding should also be made easier like in some other games
I'm thinking about making a separate video addressing mods in Kingdom Rush games and my stance on them.
