Great list. I grabbed a physical copy of "Ys Origin" for PS4, but that was a Limited Run Games release, so I believe the "physical" release of Origin is very limited (only 3,000 to 5,000 physical copies for each, Vita & PS4). It is more common digitally, I believe. Oh, and Ray Gigant is also a Limited Run Games release --- only a 3,000 physical copies in existence on each.

Hey, thanks for sharing your opinion! I've been seeing a lot of people complaining about Mind Zero. It's not the greatest of the list, probably the least good, but it's still a pretty decent game. I really don't understand all the hatred towards it, but well, everyone's got their own opinion. As for Stranger in Sword City, well, I did play it and I did play Demon Gaze as well... just not my cup of tea. They're good games, yes, but I just didn't like them, haha.
Fair enough, I think I like Stranger in Sword City so much because it appeals to the true hardcore of the fans of the genre, it's really quite difficult to get going but really rewards the people that truly masters the systems
To Cyber Punk69: The 2DS has a few differences from the 3DS. The original 2DS is constructed like a tablet, it only has one speaker but does have 3.5mm stereo out, and has no 3D functionality. The New 2DS has the clamshell construction, otherwise it's like a New 3DS.
Good video, as usual. While I do not have a Vita, I think that I may take your recommendation and try Lost Dimension on PS3. It looks interesting. I had considered purchasing it before, but I decided to get Natural Doctrine instead (which I found disappointing). Anyway, good work!
I wanna give Ragnarok O. Ace a shot ! Man your videos are freaking awesome keep it up !!! Make sure to try Freedom Wars and sword art online Hollow realization !
All great picks! And Ray Gigant rocks (for some reason)!! I bought it as physical. Summon night... I'll try it (it did not come out as physical in EU and acting was so bad but it looks incredible on vita). Also Mind 0 I do not have it. I confess when it comes to Persona-like I was more curious of Caligula Effect (ps. Tokyo Xanadu is great!).
Have you played Caligula Effect? It's also similar to Persona games (the director of the game was also the one of P1 and 2) and it's not well know for its quality in my opinion
It's gotten a PS4 Port that improved on its technical issues as well as new features like be able to play as a female protagonist. Caligula Overdose is what it's called.
Erick Landon RPG Is has yet to release in the west, tho NIS America has uploaded a trailer on their RUclips channel. I saw a twitch stream of Japanese version of Overdose, where the framerate is smoother.
You forgot to mention that Ragnarok Odyssey Ace was made by a team that got back together...the same team that made the original three Lunar games on the Game Gear and Sega CD.
@@ErickLandonRPG Sorry. I didn't mean to upset you...I was just trying to help, in case people didn't know just how awesome that game was and why. You mentioned that Victor Ireland was responsible for Gaijin/WD in the one so I just...never mind. Sorry, again.
Great video! You showed me some that I knew about, but I now want to get since you talked about it. I am sooo glad you talked about Trillion. Super underrated
I wouldn't call them gems but yeah, most of those are games that came out pretty much on the first years of the vita's life and got lost on time, it's kind of hard find them on the recomendation threads on reddit.
I also talked about mind zero on my channel. While I did like it for what it was, it has an awful cliffhanger at the end...which kind of killed it for me. Lol. But yeah, the persona 3 and 4 influences are definitely there.
LOL! Omg. I didn't even see that. I was thinking to myself, "he wouldn't use my gameplay footage. I never got asked, but that's cool". I'm honored. Thanks for the credit!
I just saw you've a Facebook page, I should have contacted you through there. I didn't on RUclips because you can't send messages anymore since a couple of months ago, they removed the option. But anyways, sorry for using it without permission, but I felt the least I could do was to credit the gameplay's owner.
I'm mainly more on active on twitter, sometimes I ignore FB for weeks. Lol. But no worries! Yeah, I miss the messaging system on YT. So stupid of them to remove it. You're good. I still appreciate you giving credit. If you need any footage for later on, let me know, if it's possible for me. I haven't updated my channel in a long time. Lol. But I still record footage when I have the free time to do it. Looking forward to your part two video!
I couldnt get into mind zero. I liked demon gaze way more. Just curious what other people think of the 2. Dungeon travellers 2 blows the socks off all of them though imo. Bigger, more strategic, more classes, options, etc. All the dungeon crawlers I mean.
It's been only three hours since I uploaded this video and there have been like 5 people complaining about that game. I'll admit I didn't get that far into it, but the 4-5 hours that I played convinced me to recommend it. I see nothing wrong with it, except, perhaps, the Persona wannabe feeling. But other than that, I thought it was an okay game. Not the best on the list, but still...
Dungeon Travelers 2 I felt was one of the strongest weak Dungeon Crawler RPGs actually, much because of it's characters. Gameplaywise, though. I liked the characters in how they were designed and written, but when I got a new character, who had a better unique skill so she should replace the character I was using with the same class, and she is like 10-20 levels lower.... So much extra grinding I had to do in that game just to get the party I wanted to be on a relevant level... Really put a damper on the game. Also the game seemed so random when it came to how much damage and how many attacks some enemies got. Like, I could hardly ever really know or expect anything in battle
@@TrulySilentLie i agree about the leveling thing. Particularly because leveling in that game is really slow, even if you are behind, you dont catch up. Not to mention if you are underlevel, enemies can easily 1 or 2 shot your underlevel character.... that said the game is fairly well designed in the sense that if you dont replace a character with an underlevel one, you won't actually need to grind if you like the challenge. I'm at the final story dungeon and I never grinded yet. About the random damage thing, thats not exactly true. Early on in the game certain enemies have certain attacks that do devastating damage. IIRC in the forest dungeon (last in the demo iirc) there was a dryad or something with some kinda water bubble attack that pulverizes you. However later on at about the time where you have to defeat some elephant god boss, ALL the trash suddenly have whoopass attacks. However you gradually gain access to equipment and abilities that provide resistances and defenses against specific attacks. So you basically just have to identify your enemies (even trash) accurately to safely progress. Bosses generally have specific party wipe attacks you NEED to have a response for too. Its not a dungeon crawler if you like coasting thru combat. But if you want a dungeon crawler that really demands you to learn and improvise, its one of the best.
I don't consider those two games as hidden gems since they're both pretty well known :) I did play Muramasa and it was awesome, I loved it. I also love Odin Sphere but I've only played the PS2 version.
Trillion is a hidden gem? Pfffft, yeah right. The training you're required to do to prepare one of your heroines to battle trillion is just horrible. And the boss is multi phased so if you actually manage to whittle it down, you have the next phase to contend with and you are always in danger of death if you dont move fast enough to a safe zone if there even is one. And if I recall properly, each phase gives it more health and you are nearly always required to manage your mp items because your character needs that one move to make it to that safe zone I mentioned before. There is a RUclips video showing what I mean. If I'm wrong, feel free to mention the video that proves it and I'll man up to say I was wrong. The game is not fun and I'm considering trading it in to put it to a more worthwhile game. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Nice I know 1 of them ar no surge. I already know and played the demo for ragnarok but didn’t like it cuz of different art style. I plan to buy mind zero 1 day. I’ve been on my wish list for a couple of years
When I bought the Vita, it already had that henkaku thing. But Ar Nosurge, let me confess; I beat the game a couple of months ago on the PS3. I downloaded the Vita version just to see the differences.
how do you get the screen of the vita so big on here? i like these type of games but i can't stand looking at the tiny screen while playing it...is there a way to play it where it is blown up to the tv or computer screen?
I actually recommend not getting the PS Vita version of Exist Archive, has lots of bad crashing issues during battles and you cannot save inside dungeons so be prepared to do sections over.
I did but 1.- I think it's not that hidden since dozens of people have been recommending it for the past few weeks. 2.- I am very sorry but I just didn't like it =/
I had a feeling you would have Mind Zero and Ray Gigant on the list haha before I even saw this video. I thought they were alright but like so many dungeon crawlers they lack anything to keep you playing the whole way through. These two at least tried to have a story but I got probably about half way through in both of them before I just couldn't take how repetitive they were. These arn't horrible games but I would not recommend paying full price for them as if you are not a complete dungeon crawler junky I doubt you will finish them. Ar No Surge was an example of one of my biggest concerns with so many JRPGs lately, the lets put no effort into the world problem. Everywhere you go is like a one or two room hall way connected by a point A to B map. I wanted to like the game the combat was pretty fun and the story might of got interesting but like so many games nowadays I just can't make it through them due what feels like no effort put into them. As for the rest on the list they are all good to great games that will keep you wanting more the whole way through good list haha. Now to start playing Dragon Quest 11 so excited and here is praying Square Enix didn't find a way to ruin it fingers crossed!
Thanks. I don't want to contradict myself, since I recommended both games on this list (Mind and Ray), but I kind of agree with your opinion. I haven't finished either, of course, but I did get the feeling that I'm going to end up tired of them pretty soon. However, the trick on beating games like those is to just take your time. Go back to them every once in a while and eventually get through the end. I mean, I'd rather play Lost Dimension or Exist Archive a million times over them, but they're also pretty good and I do want to beat them someday. As for Ar Nosurge, well, I must confess I beat it on the PS3 a couple of months ago. I downloaded the Vita version just to see the differences. I really liked it, but I still prefer the Tonelico games. Even the third one for the PS3.
I really like the Tonelico games to which is why I bought Ar Nosurge day one of its release but like I said I just couldn't stand that their was like no dungeons at least to where I played I got to the point where you switch characters maybe it picks up after that? If so I would like to know so I can go back and play it but up to where I played I was pretty disappointed in the lack of interesting dungeons. I never got to play the 3rd Tonelico game it kind of released without any real news or anything on it so I didn't even know it existed till like a couple months ago haha. I really love the music in those games and the atmosphere they give so someday I need to play the 3rd one. Oh I agree dungeon crawler games really are made for portable systems to be played on the go. Those games were by far not bad dungeon crawlers as far as dungeon crawlers go I think they are some of the best but all dungeon crawlers get old for me and are not really my thing haha. There has been a lot of good things said about the Mary Skelter one so maybe that one is actually really good the whole way through.
Yeah, but I'm complaining more about the fact that there's still no plans to translate or localize Ciel Nosurge. Seriously, that was so damn stupid, localizing the sequel instead. But hey, at least we got something.
I played it on the PS4 a while ago at my friend's house and we had to quit precisely because of that, haha. Now that I've been playing the Vita version, I see I'm still on the same situation! But it's totally worth it. It really is a great, underrated game!
I actually own it on the Ps4 not the vita, your right, for people only invested in the story I can totally see that, imagine if it was a turn based rpg? if that was the case the game would probably get no love from main stream gamers.
Ys memories of Celceta is better than origins, there is also: neptunia the three games, salt and santuary, soul sacrifice , and tales of hearts... I did enjoy rainbow moon and darket dungeon though neither is Japanese. And i don't think i have to mention FFX since i bought the vita just for it! trails in the sky + cold steel are really really amazing
Celceta, Neptunia games, Soul Sacrifice, Tales of Hearts, Trails and motherfucking FFX are NOT hidden gems. At least not in the niche community that I've built in this channel.
Honestly, the only one I've even played is Persona 4: Golden, which I loved. I bought a Playstation TV (for $30) just for that game. I should specify that when I say "style", I mostly mean the presentation style. That, and the fact that there are so many first-person dungeon crawlers. Just not my style. I like stuff more along the lines of Trails of Cold Steel, Persona, Dragon Quest, Valkyria Chronicles, etc. And, yes, budget plays a big part. Though, I did go on Ebay and buy Summon Night 5 (PSP, and it does have a physical copy), and Summon Night 6 (PS4) before this video went up.
man talk about disappointment for me, Ys origins is just not for me, AT ALL, i just couldnt continue playing after a few hours due to boredom. i know alot of people love the game, and i can understand why, but its just not for me.
@@IceofDream. actually, i just didnt like the gameplay itself. it felt too barebones, i tried again later, but nah, not for me. its just too "arcadey" for me.
@@marcosdheleno i too yet didn't beat Origin because i don't know where to go or what to do, yes i like Memories of Celsta and Dana much more, if you didn't try dana yet maybe you should.. it's one of my favorites

I just finally picked up a vita (to hack) so I'm super grateful for all these videos. You definitely have the best vita coverage.
I agree with Lost Dimension loved that game!
Good video, as usual. While I do not have a Vita, I think that I may take your recommendation and try Lost Dimension on PS3. It looks interesting. I had considered purchasing it before, but I decided to get Natural Doctrine instead (which I found disappointing). Anyway, good work!
Lost Dimension is far superior than Natural Doctrine. Try it out!
Wow, thank you for this list. I was looking for good anime games for my ps vita❤️
Was that a Hocico shirt!? Hell yeah!
brilliant channel.. just subscribed
I wanna give Ragnarok O. Ace a shot ! Man your videos are freaking awesome keep it up !!! Make sure to try Freedom Wars and sword art online Hollow realization !
Thank you! I hope you enjoy Ragnarok, just focus on its gameplay/battle system rather than anything else. I'll try Freedom Wars as soon as I can!
Thanks!
Have you played Caligula Effect? It's also similar to Persona games (the director of the game was also the one of P1 and 2) and it's not well know for its quality in my opinion
I'm heavily considering that game for part two, I just didn't have enough time to play it.
It's gotten a PS4 Port that improved on its technical issues as well as new features like be able to play as a female protagonist. Caligula Overdose is what it's called.
So you recommend the PS4 version over the PS Vita one?
Erick Landon RPG Is has yet to release in the west, tho NIS America has uploaded a trailer on their RUclips channel. I saw a twitch stream of Japanese version of Overdose, where the framerate is smoother.
It will also come to PC. If it has new content I'll probably buy it again
Good job on the video. I know you'll be busy with that hack 3DS, but check out Freedom Wars for Vita.
Thank you, I'll check it out.
Awesome video bro. Cant wait for the next ps vita list.
Already working on it :D
Thanks!
I just bought God wars for the switch and i love it so far. Will you be doing vid about the switch in the future when there is more JRPG on it?
Probably next year, because I'm planning to get a PS4 first.
Great video, man! I already know what to play next on my Vita. ;)
Thanks!
You forgot to mention that Ragnarok Odyssey Ace was made by a team that got back together...the same team that made the original three Lunar games on the Game Gear and Sega CD.
No, I didn't "forget it", dude. I can't put every damn detail in 1-1:30 minutes I talk about each game, now can I?
@@ErickLandonRPG
Sorry. I didn't mean to upset you...I was just trying to help, in case people didn't know just how awesome that game was and why.
You mentioned that Victor Ireland was responsible for Gaijin/WD in the one so I just...never mind.
Sorry, again.
Nice list, subbed
Mind 0 was my first dungeon crawler
Great video! You showed me some that I knew about, but I now want to get since you talked about it.
I am sooo glad you talked about Trillion. Super underrated
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.
I wouldn't call them gems but yeah, most of those are games that came out pretty much on the first years of the vita's life and got lost on time, it's kind of hard find them on the recomendation threads on reddit.
Woah, now I'm interested with the PS Vita. Thanks!
You're welcome! :)
Wow i thought Ray Gigant was a VN :O Gotta play it now :D Great content as always !
Thank you! What's a VN?
Visual Novel like Steins Gate or Zero Time Dilemma .
Oh, yeah.
For those of you who don't know he said he's gonna search for and play hidden gems, that explains why the video was quick.
I also talked about mind zero on my channel. While I did like it for what it was, it has an awful cliffhanger at the end...which kind of killed it for me. Lol. But yeah, the persona 3 and 4 influences are definitely there.
Hey :) Funny you're writing here, hahaha. Read the description ;)
LOL!
Thank you and likewise, if you need footage as well, I don't mind if you or anybody else uses it.
VP spiritual successor!! I need this game!
thanks for the list
Hey guys, what's up? (raises his hand)
agree with U for Lost dimension !
I just noticed Ni No Kuni on DS on Ebay? In a box. Looks like a Japan only release, dang, didn't know that
Damn, did research, its a different game and theres a fan translation!!!! Wow, stoked, gotta play that!
Lost Dimension a good game, but it's terribly simple. Although, this did not stop me from knocking out platinum in this game.
@@ErickLandonRPG yeah im just ssying I couldnt get into it. Not bashing your opinions. Im looking forward to your next video =)
Thank you!
Man, you should play Odin Shpere Leifratsir and Muramasa Rebirth, i'm sure those two can be in the top three of this list
I don't consider those two games as hidden gems since they're both pretty well known :)
I did play Muramasa and it was awesome, I loved it. I also love Odin Sphere but I've only played the PS2 version.
Saludos desde Chile, me encantan tus videos :) (entiendo que sabes español)
Gracias!!!
Thanks a lot for this video, i just bought a ps vita today, and i want to play some nice jrpgs :)
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Excellent ! Your vidéo rocks !
Thank you!!!
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
by the way, im pretty sure the original persona, as well as some SMT games are FPDs.
Yes, that's right.
Nice I know 1 of them ar no surge. I already know and played the demo for ragnarok but didn’t like it cuz of different art style. I plan to buy mind zero 1 day. I’ve been on my wish list for a couple of years
thanks man!
Interesting. I only play Ys Origin. Might check other titles on this list. Thanks!
Did you install henkaku Eric lol I know u did not buy ar no surge physically :)
When I bought the Vita, it already had that henkaku thing. But Ar Nosurge, let me confess; I beat the game a couple of months ago on the PS3. I downloaded the Vita version just to see the differences.
@@ErickLandonRPG
I was just kidding only mentioned it cause I thought ur running joke on the suiloden game and ur other burnt or downloaded games
how do you get the screen of the vita so big on here? i like these type of games but i can't stand looking at the tiny screen while playing it...is there a way to play it where it is blown up to the tv or computer screen?
There's this thing called PS TV with which you can connect the Vita to the TV.
@@ErickLandonRPG cool... Do you just subscribe to it or is it a device you buy
It is a device you buy, but unfortunately, it's very expensive and hard to find nowadays.
I actually recommend not getting the PS Vita version of Exist Archive, has lots of bad crashing issues during battles and you cannot save inside dungeons so be prepared to do sections over.
I couldn't agree more with this. It's the same situation with Lost Dimension, as a matter of fact.
Yeah that's a shame, after I finished Exist Archive I made sure to research every vita port of JRPGs before buying
Ow Yeah and u should try Demon Gaze if you already didnt do that :) Im actually playing the second Demon Gaze on my Vita cool games :)
I did but 1.- I think it's not that hidden since dozens of people have been recommending it for the past few weeks. 2.- I am very sorry but I just didn't like it =/
thank you so much for ys origin , i had no idea it was on the vita! , im enjoying it a lot ,its actualy one of my favourit of the ys saga , big ups!
You're welcome :)
Thanks for the feedback!
I own most of these games, great list
It fucking sucks that we may never get any of the other Ar Tonelico games, those games had beautiful music...
Yeah, but I'm complaining more about the fact that there's still no plans to translate or localize Ciel Nosurge. Seriously, that was so damn stupid, localizing the sequel instead. But hey, at least we got something.
I guess you could say it was..." better than nothing"?
Yep, pretty much.
The story is good? Unexpected! Now I want to play Exist Archive.
Characters are stereotyped, as I said in the video, but yes, the story, despite that, is really interesting.
Thanks a lot
Go and see part 2✌️
my problem on exist archive is that it crash on dungeons rolling you back on your previous save..
damn i just might play the entire list
i got Trillion on last steam sale for like 3$ :D
Wow, very cheap.
I love Ys origin, total grind fest through the tower!
Yeah, because the current generation doesn't like turn based games anymore, which is why I also think that Grand Kingdom...stopped being mainstream.
Did you start learning guitar on acoustic or electric?
Acoustic.
I really tried to like Mind Zero, but it felt more like a rip off of Persona Q, than Persona 4.
@@ErickLandonRPG whoops sorry i forgot that the title says hidden gems 🤣 but keep on dude i like your vidoes
man!! i played lost dimension and i love it, hope we get a sequel or something in the future.
Yeah, it's awesome!
my left speaker liked this
We want more!!!
There will be more, I promise!
AMAZING VIDEO GAMES!
Great, I missed out on the PSP...turns out the Vita also has great JRPGs?
hack it to get the best of 3 worlds
@@jawnzsolo how do I do that?
I love Turn-Based RPGs, but there's just something about the style of the exclusive Vita games that REALLY turns me off...
Which ones have you played that turned you off?
I don't know if it's me but the sound plays but your voice doesn't from early in the clip.
If you're talking about the little, mediocre "intro" that I put after my introduction to the top, it's okay; it was supposed to be silent.
Awesome didn't think I'd hear a reply from you! Love your videos! And you should do a playthru of Thracia 776 with rage intact! /giggle.
man talk about disappointment for me, Ys origins is just not for me, AT ALL, i just couldnt continue playing after a few hours due to boredom. i know alot of people love the game, and i can understand why, but its just not for me.
Marcos Danilo Play Ys VIII instead, it’s great. VII is good as well.
@@arrownoir and memories of Celceta, maybe origins wasn't enjoyable because Adol wasn't there
@@IceofDream. actually, i just didnt like the gameplay itself. it felt too barebones, i tried again later, but nah, not for me. its just too "arcadey" for me.
@@marcosdheleno i too yet didn't beat Origin because i don't know where to go or what to do, yes i like Memories of Celsta and Dana much more, if you didn't try dana yet maybe you should.. it's one of my favorites
