What an "odd" question, "Will you ever paint white people?" I doubt that was asked of Caravagio, Da Vinci, Hans Holbein, Rembrandt, Whistler, etc. etc.
Why paint racist white men? Honestly these people are famous because black people were oppressed.
Toni Morrison was asked this about her writing, too. Her response (which you can watch on RUclips) is genius. an odd and insensitive question
White or Black the representations are pretty boring.
I am an artist and I've been asked that too by gallery owners and when I showed them some white people I painted in my portfolio - they were like, "Okay", but I still didn't pass their test.

I wish they would’ve chosen a different artist for Michelle Obama’s portrait. It is objectively not great, which is a shame because President Obama’s portrait is so beautiful.
Your are wrong.
That’s your opinion but I felt the same way compared to Obama’s portrait. I guess it’s not our likable style. But after looking at it again, it’s the background is too light, maybe a forest green would have bought it out more.
I loved the painting which goes to say how personal art is.
