Honey, I'm sorry I'm not an expert but I can tell you because I run into the same thing that your problem with the first pants is either the rise or the inseam. I don't know what they call it anymore but basically the height in your torso is long from your crotch to your waist and those pants aren't long enough for it. They used to call that inseam but now I think they call it rise. I'm not positive but either way, that's the problem. The pants are plenty large enough for you but that area isn't long enough so it looks bad.
I stopped so I could make this comment and not forget so I will watch the rest but in case there's nothing else I want to comment on... I hope you have a wonderful cruise!
