@@Schmidtelpunkt Your comment triggered a memory of something I either read or heard regarding Sinatra whenever he filmed a movie. Someone said that you rarely had to do a second take whenever filming Sinatra doing his lines (i.e., he never flubbed them). When Sinatra was asked about this, he pointed out that when performing live as a singer, you never got a do over and that's how he approached his acting as well.

I bet as soon as someone mentioned the caravan, they probably were already getting ready. They likely have a repertoire list several songs long that they can dive into at a moment's notice.
It's part of being a professional, you pick up cues and can react at a moment's notice. Like a storekeeper that knows where a product is by name or a EMS that can stop a conversation and turn hero at the sound of a call.
Stephen Colbert is an absolute treasure in SO many ways! Easily within my top 10 (possibly top 5) people I'd like to not only meet, but get to just hang out with for a day.
Just go to the show its free. Just have to request tickets months in advance. Extremely fun and cool to see how he does the show. You see all of the interviews not just the edited parts. He does basically everything but the interview in one go its amazing
@@zachg427 I live all the way in California. Plane tickets, hotel, food and shopping money... Too expensive. I would love to go see him in person, though.
1:19 I could do that when I was a kid (thanks to my big brother who would always play with my ear), but my earlobes aren't that floppy anymore now that I'm nearing my 30s. Don't underestimate the time and effort it has taken Stephen to maintain that talent. Kudos Stephen!
YES to this segment every week. LOOOOVE it, Stephen! Everything here was adorable and I didn’t think it was possible to love you more than I already do. 💙😍😍

A week or so ago you posted a similar video of Stephan taking audience questions. At the time I made the comment;"Colbert Staff, if you read the comments please make this a regular feature." Thanks for reading the comments and making this a feature.
Loved the Caravan dance. The "really cool guy who can't walk down the stairs" reminded me of the bit Dick Van Dyke used to do at the beginning of the "Dick Van Dyke Show."
I'd love to be on his show. I idolize his last name. Mine is Martin. BOORING. His last name is cold beer! Lol. "Look everyone, cold beer is here. YAAAAY!"
My ears are also very uneven and no one ever notices, not even the kids who bullied me in school who certainly would have jumped on the chance to mention it. I think most people just don't look? Or it's one of those things where your brain corrects the actual input from your eyes until someone points it out to you.
I think he does great with the political stuff, but just as great with the non-political stuff. He's exceptionally intelligent, moral, and incredibly talented in any case.
This is what I have been missing. It's like the Daily Show's between the scenes that I love so much. Goes to show that Colbert is more than a man with a script.
That's a pretty good trumpet Stephen does! Just glad his first concert wasn't Herb Albert. He might inspire the caravan to hop aboard the Tijuana Taxi. LOL
If I'm not mistaken, this segment began with the Thanksgiving special. Many have already exclaimed that this should be a regular thing/segment, and I agree. It's great to see not only how Stephen reacts spontaneously, but some of the questions are things we're dying to know about..... such as, whether he will do "the Caravan" at the drop of a hat.
I haven't been a huge fan of Colbert but this compilation makes me appreciate him more as when the cameras aren't rolling its even harder to keep people entertained and that stair bit was good physical comedy which is a rare thing these days so kudos.
Go look at the mashup of Christopher Walken dancing to "Everybody dance now." Many times he jumps and kicks his heels out or together. Stephen will have to try to copy that. Or just get Walken in. (Assuming he's not a republican.)
Lmao the guy had one question to ask and went with "Should I stand up?". It's like when Homer asked the Head of the Kwik E Mart "Are you the Head of the Kwik E Mart? Really? You?". Thank you, come again.
I always wondered what happened to the right ear. I don't feel quite so badly about my own imperfections when I see successful people talk about theirs. Thank you.
Please make these audience questions videos a regular thing. Ooh, and a compilation of past audience questions would be dope too because most of the material is timeless.
The *Cool Guy Who Can't Walk Down Stairs* is just another example of why I love this man dearly. Stephen brings well needed levity to an often ( *cough* read: always) bleak administration.
Please make these uploads about questions a regular thing.
I second that.
I was just about to comment about this.

Clint Barton. The man has some sharp moves.

Colbert is not just a comedian, he's a true performer
Indeed, reminds me a bit of that Sinatra generation entertainer, when people did more than one thing reasonably well.

you have literally the lowest standards on the face of the planet to think a washed up political talk show host is a true performer.
@Professor Penne aww, did Colbert hurt you by pointing out the idiocy of someone you love?
@@professorpenne9962 Well, he can't act like Trump... but the man does comedy, singing, impressions, dancing and magic. Sounds like a performer to me.
This is so wholesome, Stephen comes across so sweet!

That “ear trick” is how Mr. Colbert charmed a future Mrs. Colbert!

I'll see if my daughter can try that now. Lol.
