    The review rightly concludes that the Bossnut is good if a tight budget is necessary. But I think other factors also count. If I had Blake's skill level and lived somewhere that I could reach radical terrain with ease then I could justify a superbike to myself (though being paranoid of theft). If you're starting, a bike that has a slack geometry, good suspension, powerful brakes, and so on will inspire you confidence and help you push that bit more. Not saying that the cheap bike is not up to the task either. You need to find a balance within your budget.

Yes, a 6k custom build is going to be awesome but this isn’t a proper like for like comparison. Essentially this is a Nukeproof advert.
    Yes, I’m a bossnut rider. Take mine for a spin with upgraded rear shock (cane creek) tubeless, thru axels, dropper and upgraded mech but importantly, come ride them round bedgebury where it’s not all about gravity and more like what a 130 travel bike is made for.

    Blake is amazing don’t get me wrong but I feel like there should be someone comparing these bikes on an average level. Blake is not an average rider so it’s hard for us to relate in my opinion because Blake is a monster on a bike. The average mountain biker should know that spending more will mean more comfort which I think is most important, riding ability comes with comfort and comfort means becoming a better rider. I got better when I got a better bike. Especially switching from a Hardtail to a Full Suspension. Everything just got much better. Now I went from a $1300 hardtail to a $3800 full suspension. So the suspension is ok but it’s not like the Nukeproof but a better bike will make you a better rider and you will be a much more bold rider with the right equipment to do the job.

      That's what I anticipated (I'm the 'proud' owner of a Bossnut). However what struck me was that although in practical terms there wasn't a huge difference Blake was clearly more stoked after the Nukeproof runs.

      Always the way. I ride a lot of natural DH on North Yorkshire moors. My 190mm rig is super fast, grippy, and stable. But its miles more fun on my 140mm orange five. 😁

    Please do stuff like this with like bikes. So instead of a top of the line enduro race sled pick a premium build trail bike and do these same tests. Maybe even add in a middle ground spec build. Also, I don't think it would go against the spirit of the challenge to do some upgrading/servicing like 203 front rotor, tubeless conversion on those wheels, fresh rubber, suspension service if needed and obviously a headset service. I know doing all that would make the Bossnut closer to a 1k bike but thats still extremely cheap when comparing to a 6K superbike. The outcome would likely still be similar but the tests would be much closer.

    I was looking at couple Nukeproofs at weekend for £1500 to 2k what put me off was the carbon frames just some I don't want with the new weight saving obsession from companies there not using bonding resin through out the moulding process just on the outside and the inner hollow leaving dry fibres in-between layers causing the carbon to be more brittle than it used to be this needs to addressed by companies so many failing! This was all shown and explained by a UK carbon repair specialist company it's definitely put me off a carbon frame

    There's a sweet spot in terms of price point where you get suspension and other components that's good enough for pretty much everyone barring pros, about $2500 to $3000 american dollars will get you a really good bike, if you spend more than that you start to get diminishing returns, of course best bang for buck is to buy a good condition second hand bike that's one or two years old.

    It's also not just about one day's riding, but over time, you have to replace parts sooner on the cheaper bike ,making it sometimes more expensive than the other bike

    anyone interested in a used Bossnut, good state, great for beginners and budget oriented people? Especially good for people with hearing problems, slow riders and those that stay away from anything that could bring the bike to its limits, and a good set of protective gear just in case..

    The biggest problem is the fact that if you kept riding the cheap bike that hard, it would only be a short time before you broke it. The cost of upgrading is usually more than getting a bike with good components from the start.

    So what I seeing is with new tires, fork servicing, Works angled headset, chainring+chain & larger front rotor(w/new pads f+r) the cheap bike would have done just as well. At a lower price still too.

    You had to put the decathlon am100s against the nukeproof... Also a budget bike. But the bosnut is also a very capable trail bike even with lesser travel. But the point of this whole video is that you don't need to brake the bank to have fun on a full sus.

  • @m3tzl3
    @m3tzl3 Год назад

    You should compare bikes with same stats (same travel) etc just different prices (like cheap RS or Suntour fork vs Fox Factory or even more expensive).
    That 130 vs 170 doesn’t do as well isn’t surprising

    Basically not a fair comparison, the nukeproof was set up with good tyres and suspension set up correctly. Sent them both up the same and do it. Obviously the nukeproof is gonna win, but at least it would be more fair.

  • @stefromfortworth
    @stefromfortworth 9 месяцев назад

    Hold on…the travel on a Mega is 160/170mm. The Bossnut is 130mm.
    Would it not be fairer to compare the Reactor against the Bossnut?
