I liked Chucks better. He was in D standard tuning. Dimebag used a lot of drop D, and some drop C# I think. His guitar tone sounded like ass to my ears.
@@KaaiHawaiianDeathMetal Love it or hate it Dime's tone was a one-of-a-kind. You ought to take an in depth look into his tone, there was a lot going on to make that sound. There's several videos on that matter. One of the many tricks Dime (and his long-time guitar tech Grady Champion) employed was deliberately installing the bridge pick-up (the Bill Lawrence L500-XL) up-side down. Have you ever played with an inverted pick-up on any of your gits? Dime sure had an oddball approach to things.
