    The older I get the more ridiculous Jurassic Park gets.... Like reptiles are known to sometimes reproduce through partheogenesis... There was really no way to believe that you can make dinos and not end up with some of them making babies one way or another.... And honestly... You'd probably want them to if you were planning on maintaining a population of them...

    • @ericthompson3982
      @ericthompson3982 23 дня назад +2

      Not to mention that they make a point out of the fact that they use some amphibian DNA, several species of which are known to switch gender even as mature animals under certain population pressures.

    • @blakeharris58
      @blakeharris58 23 дня назад +4

      Why didn’t they just make all the animals male? If something goes wrong it’s much simpler to minimize pregnancies, right?

    • @ericthompson3982

      @@blakeharris58 Except male amphibians will become female under certain population pressures. And parthenogenesis really is a thing. And in egg laying species, that's a much simpler transition.

      @@ericthompson3982 Using amphibian DNA was useful as amphibians can change sex - although using at the tadpole stage, But they didn't have to go there. The eggs of alligators and maybe other reptiles switch sex with temperature. So it could have been equally logical (or illogical) to use reptile DNA. One mistake that they did partly remove was Ellie reaching out from the jeep and tearing off the leaf of a plant as they drive from the helicopter until they see the first dinosaur. My understanding is that scene is not available in any form. I saw it in the cinema on the first run of the movie but It wasn't on my VHS nor is it on my DVD. However they couldn't easily remove her dialogue when she's saying this plant shouldn't exist as Alan turns her head to look at the Apatosaurus. So we are never shown how she gets that leaf. That all makes sense since the movie is about using DNA from mosquitos in amber to bring dinosaurs back - that would not apply to any plant species.

      @kevinmoore8780 Yeah, they do gloss over a few things that are pretty well explained in Chrichton's novel. Although, the geneticist in the first movie does explicitly say "we used frog DNA to fill in the gaps," which, again does go some way to explain their ability to reproduce, and is more explicitly explained in the book.

    Is the Shining one something I've forgotten from the Room 237 documentary? The bear at 6:37 does not look significant. It's one of four playthings strewn around on the big floor, five if Jack just picked up that ball. Does the placement of each one have portentous significance?

    My clue from "The Usual Suspects" was the scene outside the ship when Verbal Kint notices the crewmen are speaking Hungarian, not Russian. I wondered the whole movie how he knew the difference. Until the very end, of course.
