I've currently got 2 modular helmets, an LS2 and a Shoei Neotec 2. The LS2 is my warm/hot weather helmet and the Shoei is for cooler weather. I had to "message" the interior forehead area on the LS2 as it gave me headaches after an hour, while the Shoei fit perfectly out of the box. Being able to flip the chin all the way to the back is very nice down here in Florida, plus the Neotic is just too hot in the summer.
That’s funny you say that about the LS two, I felt the same thing riding today, slight pressure on my forehead. I had to move the helmet around in order to not get a headache, but nothing too bad.
My wife's last words to me as I head out the door on Sunday toward Beartooth and then the Black Hills will be: "Speed safely!" I say the same to you my friend!
Safe trip and download offline maps for the areas you are going to be in for Google Maps and I hope you took a jump starter you can also use it as a backup power supply
Hello John, thanks for sharing your experience! I share your thoughts about the helmet 100%! I don't know the LS2, but I've been using the Shark Evoline 2 for 5 years for the same reasons you chose the LS2 and it works perfectly! Have a wonderful time, come back safe - I'm curious about your LS2 review (because I need to replace the Shark ;-)).
This is one of the few times i'm glad i live in Milwaukee. I don't have to go far to be at 6 different dealerships during a rally. Weather is looking great as of right now for Thursday thru Sunday. Hit me up while you're in town if you have any questions only a local can answer. Ride safe.
I did a trip similar to this to Moab Utah from NY in my 4Runner. We did 500 to 600 miles a day. It was a long tiring trip in a car, you are doing it on a bike in all kinds of elements on a time line. Be safe and good luck to you and Sandy. We will be watching. Ride safe!!
Good stuff, thanks for sharing your load out. I carry a few more tools and a jump pack. I always have some Rok straps as well. If we have room, I'll take a half cover to keep the seat dry at night. My wife wears a Shark Modular she likes a lot, the chin flips all the way back like the LS2.
Good job packing, John! Neat, organized, and clean. The ‘24 bags are def bigger than the old style, especially pre-Rushmore models like my ‘13 CVO. The more I see you use your Rick Rack roller bag, the more that I like it. I like the H-D by SAC pillion bag when traveling solo. It is designed to be side-pass through and it’s got a water proof liner, and I’ve cargo netted my leather to the top of it while not wearing it on the ride. Good helmet choice as well. Modular is a little heavy, but way better protection than a half or OF helmet, and a good compromise, especially if you’re only bringing one. Ride safe, rubber-side-down, and great trip! I’m anxious to see your travel blogs from this trip!
Nice thanks for showing the quick disconnect for the go pro now I see. It’s Sean that sent ya an email. Thank you again John you guys have a great trip.
Question, your suit case is very cool and easy to take to your room. How about all your gear in your bags? You trust locking them in your bags or do you make multiple trips to your room taking that expensive gear up there? Something tells me you don't leave all your expensive filming gear in your bags outside at night.
I have one tip for you. Take an old long sleeve t shirt, cut the sleeves off at the shoulder. Hem the cut end with 3/4 inch elastic inside. Now you can ride with a short sleeve t shirt but pull on the long sleeve tuck under the short sleeve, now you have the same sun protection, but you have a vent space where the sleeves overlap. Also in extreme heat you can soak the sleeves in cool water, but don't wring them out fully. Put ghem on wet but not dripping. As you ride they'll dry but the evaprative cooling is great, and you're not weighed down by a full wet shirt. If you have an old sweatshirt do the same for those slightly cooler morning starts. I know, a lil late, but maybe for you're next trip. They roll up small so no real space loss. Have a great trip, i hope you have a blast (I know you will). Be safe brother. I'll be following along. As always, I'm rootin fer ya!
Great video! Looking forward to following along! Diggin the helmet. Have the Daytona and in the market for a new touring helmet. 👍. I’ve been using Thrashin’s bag on the shorter trips. Great bag. But the longer trips the rick rack seems the way to go. When you’re tired and make it to the hotel you want simple easy and fast. 👍
Hi Mr. John! We wish you all safe travels and abundant blessings for everything wonderful in your travel experience!! We hope to connect with you all if you make it west to Montana / Idaho. OR; if you have passport, visit with us in Calgary Alberta to ride the Canadian Rockies?? Let us know!
Hi John here’s hoping that you guys have a nice safe trip but I was a little concerned about one thing and the thing I was concerned about is overloading your bike is there a certain limit on how much weight your bike with Carrie including yourself just looking out to see that you guys have a nice safe trip and not overloading that bike too much I think some people are they they put a lot of things on their bike it looks like they’re going away for 10 years I had to little concerned but hopefully your trip is safe and now you enjoy yourself and be safe bottom line dug from Worcester mass
i have a rain suit but no gaitors for the feet. if i have waterproof boots and use the rain suit do you still recommend using gaitors? have you ever tried waterproof socks? never knew such a thing existed, but, lo and behold, they are on amazon. thanks for your informative videos!
Hey John, Is your Saddlemen Road Sofa standard reach or extended reach? I currently use an extended reach by another brand and not happy for long distance on it. I recently installed the Thrashing 9.5 in pullback and I seem to be a little far away from the bars.
Running shoes are 10.5, military boots are 10. I see on Indie Ridge to go with running shoe size, do you agree? I'm riding 3500ish miles and want some ventilated boots.
Nice modular helmet that I didn’t know about….what is it again? Made by advant? Ls2 x model? Don’t see it in your “products I use” or “gear I use” lists….
I was looking for the cold shoe that goes on the side of the GoPro stick & the part you have on the Rick Rack Mount. Can’t find it on Ulanzis webpage for some reason
Love your channel, I love how detailed and specific your videos are. Most channels are so vague about everything. Ride Safe!
John, please take ur drone so we can have those wonderful pics like from before at the dam and all!!!
Haha absolutely

Hey John....I load my right high side bag with my daily go to gear....low side is maintenance bike gear. Easier to see everything and less bent over.
Great video as always, what you’re missing is a helmet lock on your bike so you don’t need to carry the full face everywhere. Safe travels guys ✌️
