Did the NFL hand Mike Macdonald's SEAHAWKS the PERFECT first-year schedule?!

- After a couple of questionable schedules handed out by the league the last couple of season, it appears the NFL wanted to do the Seahawks a solid in Mike Macdonald's first year as Pete Carroll's successor.
*Shortly after uploading I realized I failed to point out/discuss that the Hawks Week 15 matchup with GB is on SNF. They actually have FOUR prime-time games, not three. My bad!*
It's not perfect, but it might be about as good as it could get.
I'll break down what I like, love, and hate about the Seahawks brand-new 2024 schedule on today's edition of the show.

For me, that Dolphins game is going to be a great test of our new defence. Can we shut down the speedsters?
Agree 100%
Good thing they picked up Baker.....got little inside info from him
@jeremyestrill1764 but Jordan Brooks, no? It is talent v talent the inside info is not enough to move a needle
@@peterbrownjr7517 I think he meant baker knows the playbook. And Seattle will have a new one anyways
@peterbrownjr7517 that's why I said a little.....and Brooks will only know the tendencies of the players on offense but it's a whole new coaching staff, whole new scheme on both sides of the ball....while Baker possibly knows tendencies and schemes....either way I wasn't thinking of it being a huge advantage or anything
Listening from Italy. Thank you
I like the schedule too.. they’ve screwed us two years in a row so we’ve earned it.. no huge scary gauntlet to crush our great start like last season.. I like the possibility of getting some rookie QBs and ultimately the chance of ending the regular season maybe, possibly not having to face, in my opinion, the scariest, yet most fragile passer in the NFC, Matthew Stafford.. cuz no way is he gonna stay healthy to face us to finish out the regular season.. I pray.. thanks Dan for your show.. and thank you NFL for the fair schedule..
Go Hawks!
Our schedule was not hard last year. Geno and shitty coaching made it hard
I can't remember a week 10 bye or later ever since being a hawks fan for forty plus years lol. Go Hawks! Edit, 2014 we got a week 10 bye.
As a 12, I never predict a loss... I predict we'll go undefeated. Go Hawks!
This to me was your best show! Excellent content my bro!!!
Thank you!!!!
11 Wins
17 wins
Seriously, though.
Take the under 7.5 wins. There’s no way this team has a winning record
I like that teams with a lot of unknown factors we play them later in the season. Rams, jets, bears would be the ones that come in mind
Oh my God!! Hehehe.. you said “Cody Barton”..
We truly are blessed.. thanks DanV.. Go Hawks!
On first glance I liked it a lot. But then I noticed the Monday Night (at Detroit) - Sunday (Giants) - Thursday (49ers) stretch.
Back-to-back-short-rest weeks with the first and last games against last year's NFC Championship participants, and a big fat trap game sandwiched between them.
I’ll be at the Falcons game
not trying to be an ass about this, but last year in the schedule, you mentioned the "murderers row"... they lost all of the games in that span except for the Philly game, not the Cowboys game. Other than that, really good show Dan, always a fun time watching your show! Thank you very much for your hard work and insights.
Yeah that was an oops. My bad.
Love your shows
It's all on our QB, Geno Smith. If he just does what he does best which is throwing darts and if he just doesn't do what he does worst which is taking sacks,
the Seattle Seahawks will go to the Super Bowl based on this schedule that the NFL handed our head coach. I guarantee this.
this will be the defining season of his career. With Grubb calling plays, the elite talent off the WRs, and a half way decent healthy o-line there is a potential for him to have the best season of his career. If not, then moving on makes sense. I’m glad he has a chance to write off the Geno haters.
Yay 😁 a Detroit away game so I can drive from Hamilton 🎉🇨🇦😍 great show Dan! We’re going 12-5. 🎉NFL obviously hated Pete….😂😜
Only 3 10am games too. Patriots, jets, falcons. Not to bad for the teams they have to play.
Love the schedule, can’t wait to see the Hawks in action. GO HAWKS
Difficult to predict a lot of these games with unknowns. But we won 9 games with a shitty schedule and terrible defense last year so have to hope for 10-11 wins at least. I'm seeing 6-3 likely in the first half with the bye at the perfect time. The one thing that I'm really happy about is Aaron Donald's retirement, lol. The dude killed us. We need to split with the Niners and Rams and hopefully sweep the Cards to give me any real hope. We are likely looking at a WC scenario unless we get really lucky and the better teams have bad luck with injuries, etc. I can't see a deep play-off run but it would be nice to win a WC game and at least be competitive in the divisional rd. Maybe get a lucky break here and there but the NFCN match-ups will all be tough ones. No gimmes even with a relatively easy first half. It's baby steps but just looking for improvement right now. Geno needs to be a lot more decisive this year and bring his A game. Hopefully, the new OC will help with that. Wasn't a big fan of Waldron's play calling at times last year.
Really well stated!
Thing is, with two games on Amazon Prime, week 6 & 17, that's tantamount to a game on Peacock, isn't it? I mean, I appreciate having the games because I'm way outside the Hawk Zone (east coast, and it sucks), but for everyone else to access that game, I hope they have it on the NFL channel as a bi-cast like they did last season. But two games on Prime. Great for me, sucks for everyone else.
This is a GREAT schedule! (Especially compared to last year's schedule.) SOOOOOOO excited for this season to start; can hardly wait!
I was hoping the schedule said we started playing this weekend....💙💚💙💚
Love the schedule. Ready for first ride!
The other teams prognosticators almost all see the Seahawks game on their schedule as a win! According to them we will be winless in Seattle!
I am so glad that so many of the teams that really nailed it in the draft and are so very scary to me.. We won’t have to play them at all until the playoffs and ultimately the superbowl.. thank God for that!
I don't think this schedule is as easy as people think it is. Only 3 games I would actually put money on for Seattle to win outright. We will likely split and go 3-3 in division games. Outside of that, I only the Broncos, Giants and Patriots that can be penciled in as automatic "W's." The other games are a toss up depending on how quickly the Seahawks gel on both sides of the ball with a new coaching staff and some key new players.
Games Pencil In the "W" (3):
- Broncos, Giants, Patriots
Games Against Play Off Teams Last year(8):
- Rams, Rams, 49ers, 49ers, Dolphins, Bills, Lions, Packers
Good Teams We Underestimate that actually addressed their biggest issue (QB) from last season (2):
Falcons & Jets
Trap Games (4):
Vikings, Cardinals, Cardinals, Bears
I never said it was easy. I just like the way it's laid out.
A lot easier than what the Steelers got going on lol
What great news!!!!
We play 5/6 teams that drafted QB round 1 this year
Weird how we play all the teams who took a QB in the top 12
Having to play in Detroit for the third year in a row is a bit annoying. I remember there was a 6 or 7-year stretch a while back where it felt like we played the Bears in Chicago every year. But.. oh well.
I see a feasible path to 12 wins, and an equally feasible path to 8 wins lol
8 is far more likely than 12
@@punishunext5148 maybe I’m just optimistic, but I think the way that this schedule is structured could get us into a roll that’ll help us win some games people see us as underdogs. Also I’m not as high on some of these teams as others are like the Falcons, Bills, and I think we’re better than some of these NFC North teams. It’ll be fun to see either way.
Neither of you guys are optimistic enough
Alter bridge. Good man 🤘
I have them at 11 - 6 this year.
I'm not a fan of the week 4 - 6 three games in 11 days little kick in the ass but other than that I like it.
If we go 10-7 and win a playoff game, I would say sign Geno to a 2 yr $90M for 60 mil guaranteed. And if he gets hurt we can keep Howell
We making playoffs n winning 11 games
I agree we gotta get back to making the visiting teams scream out their plays in the huddle 😂 and get some yards beep beep beep, go Hawks
The Bears game is on a short turn-around.
Kirk is a huge weirdo as a person
Wow! Where did that come from?😂
12 win season :)
I thought we have 4 prime time games?
11 win floor and 13 win ceiling with how this schedule broke down. The hawks will win the NFCW this year.
Only 1 elite team in Non -Division road games (DET)
The schedule is not right for the SF games…last season we started home with SF and I swear every year would switch…but this new schedule shows that it’s home game again with SF and bak to SF in November…I don’t like that…this is BS
We have 4 primetime games not 3
NFL changed things last year so teams can now have two TNF games a season
player safety first, right Rog?
Think we have 4 prime times with 2 Thursday
Yeah I missed that GB SNF as I was recording. Corrected it in the description and live chat. Oops.
I think we’ll take 10 wins into the playoffs.
Just to correct u, last year we didn't win vs the Cowboys. We lost to Cowboys and Geno was stink on the last drive. We beat the Eagles with Drew as QB.
Geno was the biggest reason why we were going toe-to-toe with the Cowgirls in the first place. Our defense could not get off the field and their defense could not contain Geno, despite our offense being so "vanilla" according to my Njigba. That was Geno's best game of the year if I remember correctly.
Also the Eagles were playing basically the same weak defense as the Hawks, so that was a much easier game to win for Drew (not that he isn't a capable QB, probably thanks to spending a year around Dave Canales). But that was an exciting game nonetheless.
3 games in 10 days.... twice... perfect schedule my ass hahahaha
Perfect meaning as good as it could be given the opponents. I like it.
Perfect schedules don't exist, deal with it.
I got 11-5 or 12-4
I say 10-11 wins
They managed to win the Cowboys game? Uhm, not quite. Apparently you forgot how they blew the end of that game.
beat the Eagles not the cowpukes
Yeah that was a spontaneous error on my part. Oops.
Yeah our defense and O-line "blew" a lot of games last year. That won't happen this year, now that we have the bodies to match w/ our rivals and some of the most physical teams in the league.
@@aidankeller1717 - I agree, they made some huge mistakes last year. Hopefully they will turn it around this year, but it could take some time to put everything together with new players and coaches.
We didn't win the cowboys game
Yeah I was riffing and missed that one. Oops.
@SeahawksForeverDanViens Np. I've been watching you since 1k subs. Love the solid content. Looking forward to seeing you grow even more
The Seahawks could easily go 8-9 this year, especially if Geno is QB1 all year.
In that case, Sam would probably get us to 6-11.
But in reality Sam could possibly take us to 9-8 and Geno could take us to 12-5. Or another possibility is both QBs could get us over 10 wins. They are both fierce competitors, with a lot of toughness and elite traits. Although I think Geno is a better athlete (according to the GPS tracker board that the Hawks posted, that showed Geno had the fastest speed... at 30+ years old lol).
We're playing 6 teams coming off there bye week
Oh dang didn’t realize that
*Their
