My general reaction was this: *Luficer casts megidoladyne* Me: Wait WTF an AOE gido spell? *feathers descend* Me: huh feathers? Maybe it's not strong but more of a status ailment thi-- *it hits and wipes out everyone* at this point i'm just staring at the screen of my DS with a look of both amazement and horror.
I was beyond terrified when I saw it the first time way back when the original DeSu came to the DS in America. I quite literally screamed the word "WHY?!?!" at the top of my lungs while shaking the system back and forth. I'm lucky with how I was shaking my DS it didn't go flying out of my hands as I was shaking it like a lunatic. Worst of all, I screamed it at the top of at lunch in highschool so the whole cafeteria pretty much stopped and stared at my like I had a seizure.
If they ever made DeSu 3, i want Demon King Abel as a secret boss fight with this playing for the FIELD theme and they could use his battle beat theme as the battle theme to emulate that you're just some random COMP user trying to challenge the King of Bel himself
maybe Abel's alignment could be opposite to the player's. if you're law, he's chaos. if you're chaos, he's law. if you're neutral, well he's also neutral but still has a reason for fighting you, I guess?
What I love about Garuda is that most final level or boss themes have a sense of finality/climax and have a fittingly epic or heroic feel Garuda is one of the few finale themes where you hear it and you think "......Uh oh."
The total amount of tyrants on the field was... spooky. I set at least 1 (2 at best) for every team. And even after proper prep (lv 99, max stats, pierce-phys-holy dance-prayer-samarecarm-race d combos FOR (almost) EVERYONE) he still forced me to save scum.
I was so unprepared when i finnaly slayed him. I only had one tyrant(loki) who at best was level 80. One of my character's wasn't even level 99. My only dps for third phase was fucking abel. The rest literally only had healing and support skills so i didn't fucking die(shield all mediarahan prayer) I didn't use drain on ANYBODY. I was on atsuro route so i didn't have access to amane or naoya(my team was mari atsuro and yuzu). I GAVE METATRON REPEL ELECTRIC FOR SOME GOD FORSAKEN REASON WHICH HEALED LUCI 3 TIMES!!(possible 1.3k he healed off like nothing) None of my demon's had drain so if they ran out of mp, they were screwed until victory cry procked(i had victory cry on virtually every demon) I HAD to safe scum, it was a miracle i even beat him that run at all with how shit my team was, i only safe scummed the last two engagements, I'm pretty sure if metatron didn't have repel electric and instead drain, i would've won. Oh well, now i have luci so I'll beat him legitimately soon enough...
It was truly a great fight. The only issue was all the necessary grinding (though I found you really only need to be around the mid-70s), but that fight was worth it. I'm miffed at myself for not having the save file still, since I want to do a no Tyrant attempt but don't want to hit level 76 or so again.
Took me a while but after listening for a bit I discovered why the pipe organ/solo part sounded so familiar to me, it's the Nocturne reason boss theme :0
Just beat the DS 2009 version of this game and came to celebrate 😆 The sequence of bosses is insane but got lucky and beat them all on my first try. What a masterpiece game and ost. Now is one of my favorite games of all time together with Nocturne and Strange Journey.

With the naming scheme used in game and Persona: Trinity Soul prior, I'm surprised there wasn't a character named Seth used a secret boss with this theme, yet alone one in the sequel.
Heres a tip when fighting the 6 bels: Make sure you have an Angel(BloodWine) and some healers for the ones who have a hard time beating that round. After beating Beldr & Belial. Go back where Jezabel cant reach you. And start healing and bloodwining/reviving. And exchange demons to bring the healer/bloodwiner on that team. And once your teams are like just about to fight. Your good. If you want more help. Use someone who has alot of hp and have final strike. You know what to do with that : )
Solid advice. Help me with the king, babel. I made to him, but my team is out of mana. The one with mana left is Atsuro, but he is in one of the pillars. So he is far af.
+Isaac Oliver Babel's Boss Rush is like fighting a bunch of Pixies compared to ol' Lucy. Seriously, when I finally beat that bastard I was able to one-shot almost all the bosses. Well, one-turn them.

It was my first SMT game, I don't think it is THAT hard. Of course I had a lot of problems, but if I played it with the same smt knowledge I have now it would probably be a lot easier. Always fuse a demon when it is not useful anymore, doesn't matter if it is cool, cute or was strong once.
The reason this game is hard is due to the lack of macca. And it's only bad because its the only way to get demons. Also fuck babel's second form on naoya's route. The rest of the fight is so easy, but calamity of babylon is too op.
Was anyone else confused as to why this is called Garuda? I mean Garuda was a demon that appeared annoyingly frequently on 8th day levels with his stupid Megidoloan.
Lol Megidolaon was only a problem if you didn't have a main built on speed and magic. 40 MA and 30 AG by 8th day, tended to outrace all opponents and one-hit them. Oh...and Atsuro seems to be weirdly resistant to Almighty for some reason. Might just be his absurd levels of health.
@@GamingVirtue Atsuro is innately made to be anti magic by kicking demon's ass, almost the original three characters (you,atsu, and yuzu) are somewhat made tough in some ways, they rarely died in my playthrough unlike blackfrost which have more balance stats dying more often (the stats in the game are bs anyways it is just cosmetics really proven by using old demons which somewhat become glass later in game even with decent stats)
Maybe because Garuda is a powerful being in Hindu mythology? He literally defeated the Celestial army and penetred the "security system" they set to protect their elixir of eternal life, all by itself, even if it is not a unique demon in DS, it is a powerful and high-level one.
I know right. Lucifer makes DS 2's Alice look bad... not to mention is probably tougher than any other boss in rpgs. At least Alice can be stopped using anti-almighty, deathbound, and victory cry. Lucifer eventually becomes immune to almost everything.
this was game was more difficult for me to beat than Nocturne, it's unfair how much you have to prepare to win ANY event battle... it took me hours to get ready to kill Wendigo and I still got a pyrrhic victory.... this repeated all throughout the game

i rmb how i spent literally hours and sleepless nights crafting the ideal team to take down this sonuvabitch lucifer. used to charge into fights without much knowledge, but that took a 180deg turn.

Aruna, the older brother is the charioteer of the sun, generally blessed by other gods. Garuda, the younger brother, born primarily to settle a curse and mostly is just a mount and servant to the gods. He's strong, intelligent and gets things done - as in he takes action for himself and doesn't just serve. I feel the Garuda theme name better fits how Naoya calculated and plotted to reach the events that go against the will of the gods, even if it's Abel that actually has the power and blessing to make the difference. Though Garuda as a parallel to the typical SMT protagonist is also pretty fitting in general.
