They absolutely hated miming, and Mark King always did stuff to show the audiences that they are in fact miming, like he would stop playing the bass for a while, when the sound was still going, or like here he isn't singing into a mic. like, "Ha! Look at what they're doing to us!"
@devoutyesfan True thing. Or he would have the bass hangning from one shoulder and just "strumming it". I'm still waiting for him to do the "Michael Winslow in Police Academy" thing where he where he flips the bass so the back is out and slapping on that
I love this song from there album but why have Mark play his Alembic Bass Live yet (if you've got a great ear for music) you can clearly hear/see & tell this is not a Live Version of this amazinh & powerful song... If this is Live then where & what the hell is Mark singing through plus I can hear Mark doing lead vocal & more backing vocals along with Mike also & simply put I know the difference from a Live song & solo acts & bands having to perform (or not) via lip syncing to a backing track of their song's... Was this on a BBC Channel as they were infamous for not allowing every solo acts & bands from playing Live on Top Of The Pops though many many years late they would allow a few but even then the band just looked like they were playing but it was a backing track as it was usually (more often than not) the only ones allowed to play Live was the singer but again as the decades passed & before the Music Industry died at the end of the 90s they would occasionally allow all the members of some bands to all play completely Live... Back then we had an innumerable amount of amazing musicians within solo acts & bands that could play Live & at times play Live better but if it was going to be on the BBC it had to be done with a backing track & singers lip syncing yet all those solo acts & bands could play Live & it's just nuts seeing Mark playing his bass guitar Live & then lip syncing to a backing track as Level 42 could easily play this song Live & I'd be interested to hear why?.. In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and it's variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world...
Absolutely love this song but id like to point the onr annoying factor from Tv Shows like this & even Top Of The Pops & that is before Mark even goes to mime his vocals , he has just should the audience & those at home that he one amazing bass player & so are/were the band line up but they have to perform this song but they had to mime to this beautifully haunting song... We had to wait until the live tv show " The Tube " before we could see bands play live & though the presenting of the show , at times was a mess , at least we got to hear great music played by great musicians... Ooops , Tere was The Old Grey Whistle Test for Live Performances also but at times you could see the presenter definitely wasnt a fan of certain bands that played on that Tv Show , but it was what was on offer , so we had to take or leave it approach & though i respected the presenter , i ended up keeping the volume on mute until the solo act & band started playing...
