    Sokka will probably call him "Birdie" again, and this time he'll HEAR Wan Shi Tong growl an objection to that name.... (ie, in the Library, normal mortals can both see and hear him).

  • @KickItToTheKing
    @KickItToTheKing 7 месяцев назад +2

    This birdie being in the spirit world shouldn’t be an issue. He can’t stay in is drowned Library forever. Also word I hear is that he wasn’t intimidating like the cartoon. So when you talk to someone on the street, 98% of the time the conversation goes well. What happens if you “break into his house (the Library)?” You can still tell The Library story as in the cartoon.
    As far as CGI and having him made before season 2. It helps for sure to have the bones, structure, layers and skin made in season 1 and won’t have to worry about transitioning it to Season 2, but it’s like that with anything CGI that moves.
    Famous cgi example is the Sonic situation. Folks hated the original movie design. Then studio changed the Skin. They only had to adjust some bones, but not create a brand new cgi character from scratch.

    On the one hand, him being here and having a model already, certainly means it would be much easier to include him later, however, he doesn't have a legitimate reason for being in the first season, which is why it feels specifically like fan service like they plan to leave him out later, especially since they changed the bit about Zhao in the library. I imagine they will try to reuse whatever assets they have though, including locations, so I wouldn't be surprised if the gang find out about the comet and eclipse at the fire sage temple where we see ozai at the end instead of the library. I wouldn't be surprised either if they make use of Wan Shi Tong in some other way instead of the library, wouldn't be the first time.

      @@uncleirohsteashop Oh I agree I hope they don't change it, but based on how they approached the changes in season one, it wouldn't surprise me. It would change a LOT, not just the library, it would mean they'd have to find out somewhere else about the comet/eclipse, it would mean they'd have to change what happens to Appa, they probably wouldn't go into the desert at all if they changed this, but ALL of that seems within the realm of what they are willing to change. At this point the only things I expect for sure in season 2 are Toph showing up and half the season taking place in Ba Sing Se.

    3:08 So I'm not a VFX expert either but I have practiced with and studied visual effects since I was 15 (I'm currently 31) so I do have a somewhat informed perspective on this for whatever it's worth.
    Having Wan Shi Tong here so that his character model is ready and already on hand when season 2 rolls around makes a lot of sense. This is something you want to test and get right early on so that when the Library comes around no one is distracted by the bad looking CG owl, so this makes a lot of sense to me.
    As for the Library stuff itself I do think it will be adapted if for no other reason because it would be the easiest way for the GAANG to learn about Sozins Comet. I personally think they won't do The Day of Black Sun, yes it was important in the cartoon but to have to big (and likely expensive) finale setups in the Invasion and Sozins Comet is simply unrealistic to expect. Everything with Zuko can still happen so the confrontation with his father and declaration to join the Avatar will likely still happen too. But the Library is likely going to be how we learn about Sozins Comet not the Eclipse.

    I have a feeling they will cut the library. They just need to keep in the story elements of the gang getting intelligence on the eclipse and Appa being kidnapped. Notably, in the love action Zhao does not discover the information about the spirits in the library but from the fire sages. They even throw in the bit about the lion turtles just as Aang came across a picture of lion turtles in the library episode of the animation. Note that it is also the fire sage who is showing Ozai the comet at the end of the live action. Also Roku did not destroy the temple in the live action so it could be that the gang returns there seeking information on the fire nation. Once they learn of the eclipse, they head to the earth kingdom where the Appa being kidnapped story can happen. Of course, could be wrong but that’s my guess.

    • @uncleirohsteashop
      @uncleirohsteashop  7 месяцев назад +3

      That could actually be a good way to change up how they put in a live action "Appa getting captured" plotline. Because I have news for those wondering but there's NO SHOT they adapt Lost Days of Appa. That character is massive on the budget and giving him his own episode would not only not makes sense but it could tank the story. I think it would probably benefit a live action if he doesn't get captured in the desert but still gets captured in Ba Sing Se.

    I'm super worried that the DESERT arc in S2 might be cut:
    1 - the contraption at the end credits looks like the planetarium in the library, which now is in the fire sages temple; and
    2 - Zhao DID NOT get the spirit info in the library (that he burned down) but the same fire sage temple of Roku.
    This might imply that in S2, we get the Winter Solstice episode when Roku informs Aang of the comet, then sees the contraption AND discovers the eclipse right there which shows the sun, the moon and the comet.
    I WOULD BE MAD that they would skip the desert arc, its one of my fave eps in S2. But to be fair, shooting in the desert with a bunch of kids? Also - Budget.

His role is very relevant in the second season. I loved him...very well done, man...who made it congratulations... I don't think he won't appear in the next season, because his lore is linked to the desert, the solar eclipse, Comet Sozin itself, etc. Now, will Sokka and Katara be able to understand him in the library? What if they won't do the Library episode, but the Gaang will get knowledge of the eclipse from someone in the Fire Nation who has access to that planetarium? A fire sage, or even Zuko, especially if they mix the timeline a bit so that the Gaang will get the info after Zuko joins them and still would have enough time to plan the invasion. I believe that could work if Netflix really gives thought to it! Being lost in the desert really takes time that could be used for better purposes, like showing how the characters' relationships evolve especially after Toph joins the group

    Wan Shi Tong's presence could also be for marketing, showing how well he is rendered for a possible Season 2. Season 1 had a bit of 'front loading' of characters to establish a look for future seasons -- with human actors, you wouldn't hire them and then ask them to hang out for a few years until they are needed. Same idea with CG creatures, you would start rendering them as early as possible so that you don't have a rush job for Season 2 and beyond. You then justify the CG budget by having them appear in season 1.

    The reason I think he's gonna have no impact later on is because we see fire lord ozai and the sages at roku's temple have the same fucking device that was in the library which depicted the solar eclipse.
    If they can track the comet with that shit why not also the cycle of the sun and moon? When I saw that I was like wtf the fire Nation already has this😂.
    And if it only tracks the comets movement that's even worse writing cause I see the sun and other things on the same device
    Let's not forget Zhao originally learned about the spirits via the library and in the live action azula just fucking gives him the info 😂so idk man😂seems like that library is pretty non existent to me.

      @@dresdenwarlock7978 that makes no sense. The only person to enter that library in the og series is Zhao and after that he stopped allowing g humans to enter cause Zhao toasted the info. Also if wan shi tong is in the spirit world where's his library? He took his knowledge into the normal world to share but after humans showed him they used knowledge only for bad he took his beloved knowledge and buried it. If he cares that much about his library idk why hes just randomly chilling in the forest in the spirit world waiting to give the gang exposition that literally any other spirt could have also done.
      So like I say again it's obvious they plan to go a different way even by your point because even if the fire sages based it on what was in the library how the hell did they get there? Like who was the person. Obviously it's not Zhao which is already a deviation from the og.
      There would be no need at all to go to the library if the gang can just steal the info from the fire sages. No matter how you look at it people don't wanna admit it but this is going in its own direction. Slight changes have a huge butterfly effect on how the story takes place.
      Fire Nation knows the whereabouts of important spirits like the moon and ocean but they send Zhao in there? Smh the reason it made sense in the og is cause Zhao alone knew this info and was gonna use it to become a legend. Azusa gives this info to Zhao so it's like bro wtf does the fire Nation not know? And if they know these important things why do they act so stupidly on them? You could literally end all water bending with that info you're telling me they knew that all this time and made no attack on the water tribe?
