  • Check out one of Atlanta’s most iconic eateries as I take you on a tour of The Varsity. Restaurants don’t have to be fancy to be good as you will see. The offerings of The Varsity are simple, but also delicious. Family owned and operated. Support local!!

As a skyline fan, who has the best chili dog in Louisville? Lonnie’s is great. There is also a veteran in Frankfort who operates out of the American Legion building named Sherman. He has a chili dog that I’ll put up against anyone! Think deep fried hot dogs and a secret chili recipe that he barely shares with his wife! His old restaurant was called Pops Diner, if you ever heard of this place.

I think I remember Pop’s Diner. Wow, sounds like you know and appreciate your chili dogs.

Was just in Louisville and hit up several places from these videos. They all hit. Derby pizza was a seriously terrific spot. Thanks coach!!!

I was just there about two years ago. It was worth the wait in line. The people in Georgia are very friendly.

You better be ready to order by the time you get to the counter. They don’t play around.

Not sure where you're going in Atlanta but there was a good fried chicken/family style restaurant called Buckner's on Bucksnort Road in Jackson,GA. About 45 mins drive south of Atlanta. Always fried chicken and then a second meat and a slew of sides including some of the best peach cobbler I've ever had. Everything used to be put up on Lazy Susan's and served family style. Strange hours though.

I wish I would have had more time to check that place out. We came home yesterday. If we come back I’ll be sure and look into this. Thanks for the recommendation.

Varsity is always slammed, haha. They have one in Kennesaw Ga too closer to my neck of the woods. Not as legendary, but better than driving downtown for a hotdog. I spent 2 months in Louisville on a Government contract over the last couple years. You have to try this place on the south side of town. It's called Daddy Vic's. They have a revolving menu, but their fried cabbage is unbelievable. They have fried chicken, jerk chicken, fried catfish, pot roast, ect. It's $12 for a meat and 2 sides. We work our asses off when we're up there, so I always get two plates, but for $24? Can't beat it for the portions. It's a local spot too which we always try and support when traveling. They have chess boards too which me and the guys love to play in our downtime at work. Check it out if you're ever on that side of town. There hours are a bit goofy, however, so make sure to check before driving down there.
