Highly and deeply Therapeutic.I never realised that Learning was Therapy as of Now listening to this soft gentle empathetic sharing of Petrarch and his sonnets and feelings.
Great video, thank you. The actual creator of the sonnet, however, was not Petrarch, but rather Giacomo da Lentini (or Lentino), who lived roughly a century earlier than Petrarch. Petrarch just took the form to another level, establishing a model that would be followed in all countries throughout the Renaissance.
Anyone teach the sonnet? Want to know where the sonnet came from? I did some research and put it in a video. Come see, if you have 24 minutes on your hands and are interested. :-)
Something you can also learn from: the rythm of the pentameter doesn't mean you have to pronounce it loud... I'm not English so I don't know how to properly explain this in English, but you know the rythm of a iambic pentameter is this right?: v-|v-|v-|v-|v-| well this - means you don't pronounce it loud, but loooooong, and the v means you have to pronounce it shortly. You understand what I'm explaining? Many people make this mistake.
Anonymous Man In English metrics syllables are measured by stress not syllabic length, which is what I assume you're referring to when talking about pronouncing things long and short. In any case, iambic pentameter should be pronounced naturally as it tends to follow natural speech inflections, so no need for an affected voice. If you dont mind me asking, where are you from? What's your original language?

A good example of Kierkegaard's theory of repetition. Here are some of Petrarch's sonnets and odes
