    In defense of the time limit: Time is an important factor in coordination. A commander wouldn't order a subordinate to take some objective at whichever pase they feel like. There would be lots of moving parts outside the AO of the game. You wouldn't want to get bogged down and lose initiative.

      You're correct. I sourced a lot of the cons from steam forums and reddit because I figured that those may be a new players biggest complaints.

    The more unit control, ie complexity the more micro managing a player has to do. It's a trade off between a more player controlled battle field and a more UI controlling use of weapons etc. All in all this is a style some will like. Others like the micro managing games like Hearts of Iron IV. For me I like this style. Balancing units etc will hopefully be coming in future patches. Many have come out already.

      Oh yeah, I am sure there is plenty of balance to be done and I do not mind the platoons. I recommend this game to anyone who dislikes microing units. Regiments is unique and fun but it does need a bit of balance. I also think it will need to add more weapon systems in the DLCs.

    At 5:45 you speak of a grind! Is not war just that, a grind? I am about 2hrs of game play and I am enjoying myself immensely. Learning any games "mechanics" is part of the adventure, yet you sound put off by the notion that this game, Regiments is no different. Enjoying the vids ;)

    • @TacticsWithJoe

      Grind may have been word and at the time of recording this video I was frustrated with the game. This video was suppose to be a tutorial but the engineers and HQ units don't feel as effective as they should be.

      @@TacticsWithJoe Engineers don’t really get much focus until the campaign’s late game. I have noticed big differences with using HQ units though, especially for holding the line in an area I know I cannot reinforce on time. Haven’t looked too much into how exactly the mechanic works though.

    • @TacticsWithJoe
      @TacticsWithJoe  2 года назад

      @@Mytrix0 I was mainly testing them in skirmish because I feel like that is where a lot of players are spending their time. Engineers are useful when breaching obstacles but they are also armed with an anti infantry weapon. HQ units are useful in operations but in skirmish their presence went unnoticed.

      Fair enough. They will probably get an update over time anyway.

    I don’t consider Warno as a “main course.” Eugen has focused more on copy pasting their titles, and are not willing to try new things, on top of the immense micro. You spend more time fighting the UI than you do the enemy. This game feels like World in Conflict, which was arguably the best casual military RTS of its time, with an amazing multiplayer. I’m having a blast with this game so far and would highly recommend it. Here’s hoping Broken Arrow is just as good.

    • @TacticsWithJoe
      @TacticsWithJoe  2 года назад +2

      I think you bring up a lot of good points and I always disliked the warno comparison; however, we don't have a lot of modern games to compare REGIMENTS to. I have never played WiC but I heard good thing and I think we were in need of something that is more fun and casual to play. That is one of the biggest draw; however, cause is also a bit bad to say about a wargame.

    • @Mytrix0
      @Mytrix0 2 года назад

      Precisely. There might be influences from other modern titles, but I don’t see this game trying to be a direct competitor, nor does it need to be one. It offers a good level of realism and challenge, but in a more accessible package.
      It might not be a bad thing to say. Consider that most of the Wargame series requires you you to build decks based on the meta rather than realistic compositions in order to play multiplayer effectively. The immersion is immediately broken in many cases. Regiments sticks to exactly what the title says, and forces the player to work with what they have. It’s refreshing and will only get better with more updates, and hopefully coop (fingers crossed).
      Keep up the good work. You convinced me to buy Armoured Brigade and it was certainly worth it.

      Agreed. If I had to describe Warno I would say "immense micro" too

    Can you setup Ambush's etc or is this game more about zerg rushing with the most units ?

    • @TacticsWithJoe
      @TacticsWithJoe  Год назад +3

      This is more of an RTS and not so much a simulator. You can setup attacks and defenses. There are a few defensive missions. You may need to roleplay a bit though.

  • @Myterriers
    @Myterriers 2 года назад +1

    So, are all the missions timed based with no option to turn it off?

    • @TacticsWithJoe
      @TacticsWithJoe  2 года назад +2

      Every battle is timed. There also looks to be a phase limit as well. I don't find it to be constraining but others in the forums commented on it, so I put it in the video.

    • @Myterriers
      @Myterriers 2 года назад +1

      @@TacticsWithJoe thanks for the update. Personally I’m not a fan of timed stuff in games. This game looks good but I’ll probably give it a miss unless there’s an option added to turn timed off. I enjoyed your video by the way it was very informative you got me as a subscriber.

    • @variabler

      In skirmish mode you can set up time limit up to 60 minutes. More than enough to complete all objectives without caring about time limit. You can also decrease unit speeds and adjust other parameters in this mode to make everything more realistic

    • @TacticsWithJoe
      @TacticsWithJoe  Год назад

      @@variabler I think it could be refined a bit more and you are correct that you can adjust time and parameters. 60 minutes is quite a long time to be in one game though especially a skirmish match.
