Exactly what is was looking for, most comparisons are only using the AI/app, but I really wanted to use the Native iPhone 15 pro camera, specially for the amazing 4k60fsp, good to know that the gimble work, thank you for sharing!
awesome video! now i'd love to know if this is the same with the insta360 flow, of their app is better, so that that gimbal is over all the better choice?
Great video! I have the Mobile 6, and am considering buying an iPhone 13 or 14. Are you saying that the Mobile 6 buttons control the native camera app? I cannot find anything on the internet explaining how to do this.
@@KurtPapke Thank you for your quick reply. I am swayed towards getting an iPhone 14 rather than an Android because it can film at 25fps (I am in the UK), and with the OM6 I hope to get good results.
@@tvenergyproductions1 fwiw I have filmed all my videos with an iPhone 14 Pro for the last 18 months and couldn’t be happier. DJI support for the iPhone is much better than Android.
Brilliant video! I've just got this Mobile 6 and the DJI Mimo App is absolutely thrashing my mobile battery so I've switched to the Android camera App and it's way better. I can switch to Mimo for Active Track when needed but I'm using the Native Camera App. Great video, especially with the Venn Diagram - highlights pros/cons perfectly! Thank you for taking the time doing this video! 👍👍
Hey, thank you so much for the detailed feedback. I’ve noticed some battery drain from Mimo, perhaps I need to quantify it in a future video. I appreciate your comments!
Thanks for the video. I'm interested in using my iPhone 14 Pro to create timelapse videos like you showed at the end. However, I want to make them in HDR. Can you confirm if the Mimo app let's you take HDR photos and video? Thanks! P.S. I live in Ahwatukee and I'm guessing you aren't to far away ;)
You’re right, I am in Tucson. The good news is the Mimo app supports HDR video. the bad news is does NOT support HDR Timelapse. the native apple camera app doesn’t either :-(
Thanks Kurt! I think I’ve found a solution. An app StaCam lets you do HDR timelapse. I have a gimbal for my mirrorless that can do slow pan and tilt for timelapse native on the gimbal (no app needed). So I’m going to attempt to mount my phone to it and use the StaCam app. Stay tuned. Hope to run into you on a trail someday!
@@chrissfixes I've discovered that the Blackmagic iPhone app does HDR timelapse. A *lot* of people are switching to that app from Filmic Pro. I just tried it and it works really well. Since your gimbal has built in motion, it should work with Blackmagic.
What’s so annoying about the mimo app, is that cause I use the iPhone 15 pro the lenses automatically switch when I’m filming something close up in the foreground, it’s jump cuts mid video and switched to the telephoto lense, that is the most annoying thing ever, and you can’t switch the auto lense switch off on the mimo app, you can do it in the regular iPhone camera app, plus the mimo app DRAINS my battery, so I just use my regular camera app, which sucks because I can’t use the zoom toggle on the side, but it’s a worthy sacrifice cause filming anything close up with the mimo app is a nightmare on iPhone 15 pro due to the camera lens auto switching and the fact mimo doesn’t have a setting to turn it off
Sorry, so if I understand it correctly, one can shoot in ProRes log on the iPhone 15 with the native app, but some functionalities like tracking etc is not possible, only with the app but with the app you cannot shoot in ProRes haha
I rarely use the mimo app anymore because I just can’t get the same quality of image as the native app on my iPhone 15 pro max no matter what I do with any settings.
@@KurtPapke thanks for the fast reply! how about social medias like twitch/youtube/tiktok ? can i switch to vertical/horizontal mode too on these apps?
Now this video made complete sense and very much needed. Thanks! The venn diagram was very useful and should be a print out for onsite use.
That’s a good idea to link to a printable diagram. I’ll work on that.

for real like wtf, I wanna buy a STABILIZER but they keep talking about the tracking and features
This is exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you
Great to hear, thanks!
Thank you for this. I personally wouldn’t use the app ever again and now my videos look great 👍🏼
I still use Mimo for the occasional motion timelapse
Fantastic video. Really liked how simple and efficient the messaging was and loved the Venn diagram.

Thanks. The two apps are reputably similar, but I don’t have an Insta360 to test the two. I am going to try to get them to ship me one, we’ll see.
You can always tell when someone's really clever.. Thank you for the video, Kurt!
thanks Flavio!

The OM6 buttons control the gimbal, not the native camera app (with the exception of the start/stop recording button).

I wasn’t aware of the lens switching issue. I’ll have to check and see if I get the same behavior on my iPhone 14 Pro. Thanks!
Hi, I found the solution. You just must use the manual mode. Surely, it adds some difficulties with manual setup, but it's possible
Yes that why im here
Dji mimo just a shit
Upd: Lenses also are not switching, if you're shooting in 4k 60 fps, even if you're using auto mode
Can i use the gimbal with the blackmagic app?
@@danieldouble07 yes see my latest video that shows the gimbal with the Blackmagic app.
Thanks i was thinking to return the osmo mobil but i will reconsider this now .. i will try again with those good advices
I should mention you also need to make sure you are using the latest version of Mimo to get the best tracking.
Is it possible to shoot in 24fps with the mimo app?
Yes. Mimo can record in 24 or 25 FPS at HD or 4K. What it has problems with is 4k60p.

Does it work with android phones too?
Some. You'll have to check DJI's compatibility list to see if yours is supported.

Good to know!
How can i make the best settings for the osmo 6 ?
The most important thing is to calibrate the gimbal before each use.
👍🐿👍try the Foot hills trail in SC someday. 😊
I may just have to do that!!
Is panning mode (using the gimbal buttons) allowed while my phone is vertically placed using the native iphone camera app?
Yes. All the joystick commands to pan and tilt work with the native app.
@@KurtPapke thanks for the fast reply! how about social medias like twitch/youtube/tiktok ? can i switch to vertical/horizontal mode too on these apps?
Yes. Panning and tilting are all done within the gimbal itself, so it works with any app.

You bet!
