About the venue

HISTORY
Aurora's band was formed in January 2014 with Silja Sol as the female backing vocalist. She was replaced in January 2015 by Selma Stang. Selma was replaced in January 2017 by Silja Sol again, who was the current backing vocalist. However, on May 29, 2021, Silja announced that she will no longer perform in Aurora”s band and is replaced by Amelie Holt Kleive. Aurora's original guitar player was Odd Martin. He was replaced in January 2017 by guitar player Fredrik Vogsborg. Fredrik Vogsborg has also left the band, to be replaced by Fredrik Svabo. Aurora's original keyboard player was Alf Godbolt. He was replaced in January 2017 by the current keyboard player Njal Paulsberg. Njal Paulsberg has also left the band, his last gig was Sunday 27/11/22 at Sentrum Scene in Oslo.
Amalie Holt Kleive takes over on Synth and the new backing singer will be Thea Wang. Aurora's original drummer was Magnus Skylstad. He has quit as drummer but still producers and writes for her. The new drummer is Sigmund Vestrheim.

(corrected: she uses the Bergen-dialect form of plural 'you' = 'dåkker', I first thought she made a joke and called the crowd her 'dolls' = 'dukker' but that was too good to be true.)

A: I love you too. (she uses the Norwegian singular form of 'you' = 'deg': "jeg elsker deg og", it becomes more personal than the English translation, but she also uses her body language to make it less personal).

A (continues her monologue): ... I don't know how I shall react on it ... umm ... it is very strange ... it is very strange to think about it.
I have been thinking a lot today ... I have been very philosophical. When I woke up I thought a lot about death. And I was a bit down, I thought of my death. I have a new bookshelf that I'm very found of, and I often think about death when I get such things that I cannot take with me, and I become like: oh no, I will die some day, but this bookshelf ...
I have had such a strange thinking-day, and I have thought about how I became an artist and (?) ... or I had such a strange day in my head and ... I don't know ... a feeling that you can describe as: all of you came here for us.
Crowd: (starts to cheer)
A: The next song is a bit sad, it is about those who lost their way a little. There are many ways to lose yourself during our time on Earth, ehmm, but we often find our way home again, in books for example, or in a nice cup of tea, or in music, or just in someone who is in the same situation. And it is very beautiful, when we find something to hold on to, when we don't have anyone anything. So this song is for them, who don't know where they belong.

A: ... where I like very much to ... I'm inside myself a lot, so I like to have a dancing and screaming phase, it's very wonderful. The most wonderful I know is to scream as high as I can, when I stand very close ... (she uses her hand to show the short distance to the crowd and she mimics screaming) ... and just scream really high. It's something that you won't experience very often. Everyone should get a chance to experience that, to scream as high as you can, straight into the face of someone you never met before. (I guess she talks about her being on the stage singing and screaming to the crowd.)

A: The next song is rather sad ... but there is some screaming in it too!
Crowd: (laughing and cheering)
A: It's rather complex ... and it's not always easy to tell who is the actual victim, in the story. It's some kind of love story, where one dies. And it's interesting because ... I find it difficult to understand and to handle that human beings can love so highly and also kill each other. It seems to be a strange thing to live with ... and it helps very much to write music about it. I think it's why I write so much about death, and murder, and killing, and mass murder, hm-hm.
Crowd: (hesitantly laughing)
A: It's one way to deal with it. Such things were extremely difficult to think about when I was little, or smaller, hm-hm!
Crowd: (laughing)
A: ... I thought much about it, I used a lot of time on (?), such as thinking about why people killed each other and that I would die. I have done that a lot in my life.
Anyway, I had a talk with my older sister today, she said something very smart. I have forgotten it now so you have to tell me again ...
Crowd: (laughing)
A: ... but (?, maybe she says: 'all of us' or 'all of you') will die, ups, ehmm ...
Crowd: (hesitantly laughing, someone starts cheering in an ironic way)
A: ... yes ... but it is ... Yes! (her fist rised, mirroring the ironic cheering going on)
A: (joking) Surely you came here on a Friday to think about that you will die?

A: Anyway, I think it is beautiful that we nonetheless dare to love each other and become friends with people, and that we dare to open up ... when nothing is eternal. It's very beautiful and brave, ehmm, but now I mustn't talk too long about this.
The next song is a bit sad, but fascinating, I'm very fascinated by human beings, ehmm, so we can actually just sing it.

Kent Solgule Thanks for correcting and thanks for taking the time to do what you have done. You are quite welcome to do the others if you wish. I’m sure now that it is better for the viewers to understand what she is saying and also it makes it more possible that a viewer from Norway might correct some words that you aren’t sure about.
I enjoyed reading it when she was talking and for an English speaker only, it makes a big difference.
i already know she's short in height, but i still find it shocking when i realize how tiny she looks on the stage just because she exudes so much power and energy

@Roy Khan Her two sisters are with her all of the time, one is makeup and the other designs everything she wears. Her Mum and Dad I would think are there when she is local. But yeah, they were at the Bergen gig and the Os gig.

What gets me is she has never appeared on any of the major chat shows in the UK, namely Graham Norton, Jonathan Ross and Later with Jools Holland. What the hell is going on, unbelievable.
The entertainment industry are in the business for money, Aurora is in for the art of music and to save the world!
... and yet, she has been on every late night show in the US (with the possible exception of SNL) in 2016 ... hope to see more of her in the future (SNL, you listening??)

How normal is to watch a Norwegian artist sing in english in norway? Is it frowned upon? I love Aurora
She writes and sings her songs exclusively in English. All of her interviews
and radio station visits outside of Norway are also in english. There is history
behind the Why. She goes into it and talks candidly about it. As a young song writer
she preferred the sound of English and the distance it gave her from what she would write
about. I am sure the Brazilians & the Turks for example, would have an even more difficult time
relating to her if she didn't sing in a language spoken & taught in classrooms all over the world. Aurora
is an International Star & Sensation. I probably would not know her if she just spoke and sang in Norwegian.

Almost all artists in Scandinavia with some international ambitions are writing lyrics in english. Most of them fail internationally, and start to write in their native language. This is now very common, in Sweden for example. They gave up the global ambitions. Aurora is one of those who succeeded.
@@staffankarlsson1428 Do you think those artists can sing in both languages and sustain a career? What if it's in spanish and english wich are both large audiences?
@@popodopulus3826 Maybe some of them, if they can obtain a solid fanbase in both camps, so to speak. Then they wouldn't take a major risk of ruining their career. I'm sure Aurora will release some songs in norwegian in the future, when she feels the time is right.
I also think she sings in English because it is the universal language. I haven’t been to a country yet where people did not speak English, and I have been to some obscure countries. There is a saying too that you haven’t made it until you sing in English and got noticed for your singing. Most artists who don’t seem unsuccessful in going beyond their country. Some even just leave phonetically, so the can sing in English, but not speak it.

lt's probably not quite like that :) She hugs her family and friends like most people. But if she is exhausted after an intense working day + shows, and 150 people are waiting in line, to squeeze her tiny body. And she is very sensitive. Then l believe we all would prefer other means of showing affection

its so nice to see Aurora back in Bergen, she just seems so much happier and her shows have so much more life and passion.
I agree with you, I was thinking of seeing her in Boston but I thought on her home soil it would be much better and it was. I’m hoping to see her in Os in December, hopefully with a Rode mic for better sound.

@@kpeecee What you need is a music recording app with the possibility to set the recording volume manually. The compressor/limiter function in your phone adapts to the highest volume. You can hear it when the bass comes in and the voice goes down in volume.
If you really want to capture her with good sound quality you can get some of the Zoom Sound/film recorders. You would make other people happy...:-)
Googled and found that Zoom has Iphone mics with volume knobs. IQ6 and IQ7.
@@cosmocloud5546 Actually she is telling the audience here that she felt a bit down. She had kind of a weird and bad day. To perform and connect with her fans, is what makes Aurora happy. It doesn't matter where in the world she is.

Well I filmed this with the phone at arms length and only glancing at the screen occasionally to make sure she was in shot, most of the time it was above my head so i saw the whole performance. I was lucky because there was only a wall behind me.
Don’t be sad, let’s thank people like this guy who went to the trouble of doing this and bringing the event to us at no cost.

Jeff C I can’t really see the point of the dances to be honest. Christine And The Queens for instance, her dances have always been a part of her Stage Show and without them you would miss them but Aurora started out without dances and I just don’t think it works. Just my opinion. What part of the world do you come from, I’m trying to find someone from Norway to translate what she is saying to the crowd, still waiting
kpeecee I’m from the US. I was lucky enough to see Aurora in Washington, DC (no translation needed). I assumed you were from Norway, since you were in the crowd. I’ve seen some translations done before, so don’t lose hope!

patq g I don't know if you are aware that Aurora is writing a special song for every decade she is on planet Earth. I saw an interview on, I think, NRK tv, Norwegian tv show, I think it was SKAVLAN. She has so far written two songs for this album because she is now 22, 23 0n 15th June. When she is 30, that will be the third song. The song you speak about is definitely I would imagine part of this album, I'm guessing, or she is possibly writing songs that we will only hear when she is gone. A very sad thought. The interviewer ends the conversation by saying " Well Aurora, I hope it makes at least a double album", which I think was a lovely thing to say. I must say that the idea she has come up with must be unique. I will try and find the interview for you to look at.
kpeecee ive probably seen every interview with her,im kinda obsessed as we all are,but i remember her sayin “my favourite song of all is track number 8” which,after checking, showed up to be inflections of a different kind. i just noticed that there wasnt this song during the show :)

I think the number of difficult songs she performs for each concert is inhumane, and at the end her voice was quite affected by it, at least in the high notes

Hamilton Fan First of all, can we establish if you want the dancers in the shot or not because your first comment indicates that you do and I did get them in shot most of the time. Your last comment seems to be the opposite.
I would just like to point out that I was holding the IPhone over my head for one hour and thirty five minutes without any pauses and I was trying to watch the show with my eyes not through the iPhone screen. I was testing the video quality when her support act, Iris, was on and in this light the iPhone was struggling with close up shots, so I decided when Aurora’s show started i wanted to shoot it as good as I could and I do think the iPhone did a good job. I’m sorry it didn’t satisfy your expectations but I wasn’t using a low light professional camera at the time.
