I grew up in Georgia so a lot of people I went to high school with always end up having their weddings at a plantation to this day. it's completely bizarre to me that someone would pick a place to get married that brought people so much pain.
If her wedding venue is any indicator, "southern chic" probably means antebellum? But you can't say that on public TV. 🧐😬 Please stop with the plantation weddings, people.
I feel like the probably did but it was cut for the show, at a bridal shop if the stylists need clarification we’ll say something like “What does southern chic mean to you?” Or “what would your perfect southern chic dress look like?”
Literally brought tears to my eyes when the dad said that she looked just as beautiful as her mom did 27 years ago. My parents were very happily married for 27 years when my father passed away. It's heartbreaking to know he will not be there for the important moments in my life but I know his love will remain with me forever💜
There is nothing wrong with a plantation wedding. My ancestors were slaves, but I find plantation weddings to be so beautiful. I see them everywhere in my home state of GA. It has bad history, but the land is gorgeous tbh.
The way that second girl looked was so beautiful 😍 and when she said she just wanted her husband to see her and remember the girl she was when they met pulled on my heart strings😢❤️
I am a northerner. The first time I heard “bless your heart” I had no idea and it was an insult. If I knew, I would have given that mean old lady a good old Yankee one back LOL
It's not supposed to be an insult, really. But I guess with the right amount of sarcasm it can turn into it and become derogatory. But it's originally meant as a real blessing, which means kind and uplifting.
I'm Canadian and worked for a year in KY I sure picked up on the veiled insults behind the southern speak. Bless your heart, and We'll have to have you over to dinner, we're quickly obvious. I left aa soon as my contract was up.
The second bride looked fabulous in the dress. It framed her face and shoulders with her pretty hair she was glowing- angelic sophisticated pretty. The first bride found the perfect dress. The process was beautiful to watch. She is going to be forever happy with how pretty she looked.
How can people continue to vote for Democrats knowing that they voted against women's right to vote, Civil Rights Amendment, introduced Jum Crow laws? The plantation is just land. Good grief.
Why is no one talking about how she’s getting married on a plantation??? I know it’s the south but damm, I’d hope people would know better by now. Plantation weddings are distasteful and disrespectful.
Thank you so much for saying that. I was thinking I don't want to come to your wedding thinking about how my great. . Grandmama was sold and killed here
@Diane Marie because it has a historical significance of terror, hard labor, and slavery. You’re saying this as a white person because in all honesty, you would not think this if you were black.
@Diane Marie I’m really not. It’s just weird to do it a place that caused so much pain and suffering. I’m sorry about what happened to the Natives throughout American history and continues to happen today. But, the plantation has a lot of awful things happen. It’s weird to do it
@Diane Marie I wouldn’t want the sites that natives were slaughtered to me used as a wedding venue either. Somethings should just be off limits. When people say it’s southern culture is what they said about not abolishing slavery since it was “culture” anyways bye y’all
I wasn't a fan of Christy's dress, but I'm glad she liked it. I liked Megan's dress, but maybe a different color bow would have looked better. They both were beautiful tho

When the father said, "you look just as good as you're mom did 27 years ago," made me melt aww 🥰
I’m sorry but did she say that she’s having her wedding at a plantation 🥴
Must be from couple years ago. Who would marry in a plantation?
Exactly what bugged me 💀
I was looking for a comment like this LMAO
I'm glad I'm not the only one who picked up on that.
It's so weird too me why someone would do that. It's like having your wedding in Mel Gibson's yard.
What's a plantation wedding?
@@sq86858 a wedding on a former plantation. As in, where slaves worked till they died. Pretty morbid when you think about it.
@@k.a.3519 Oh...
Yeah she mentioned they were doin it at a plantation. That’s just gross in my opinion
Plantation wedding....my teeth hurt! 😵
why didn't they ask her what exactly southern chic is supposed to be???
I feel like the probably did but it was cut for the show, at a bridal shop if the stylists need clarification we’ll say something like “What does southern chic mean to you?” Or “what would your perfect southern chic dress look like?”
I Googled the plantation she mentioned. Aesthetically, I can see why she wants to get married there. Historically, no.
Literally brought tears to my eyes when the dad said that she looked just as beautiful as her mom did 27 years ago. My parents were very happily married for 27 years when my father passed away. It's heartbreaking to know he will not be there for the important moments in my life but I know his love will remain with me forever💜
My heart melted at the dad. Also, Cassie must be a new consultant, she's adorable.
Her dads pick was absolutely gorgeous! I love how it came in at the waist so nicely
Honey you need to stop whitening your teeth, they are blue.
they showed her the ugliest dresses.
Maybe because she said it's a PLANTATION wedding 😂 or did you mean the second bride?
I didn t like them eighther
To match her personality
“We have no idea what it is", neither do we...neither do we
NOT THE PLANTATION LMFAOOOOO WHAT
I think this episode is from a couple of years ago
@@chelseagirl278 my point still stands
@@McQueen713 yes, but their views might have changed
I feel bad for the second bride. I think she was pressured into getting that dress. I think that the placement of the waistline wasn't right for her.
0:17 those vocals were amazing
The sister: “I don’t know what ‘southern chic’ is & I really don’t think my sister does either.” 😅
Do they have a tanning booth in the basement? Everyone on this show is always really tan.
...and a teeth whitening kit 😳
@@mrsspanner14 or people brush their teeth, use mouthwash and eat healthier things?

@mrbear1302 It's the Southern sun, burns us to a crisp every time we so much as walk to the mailbox!
@@dancingfirefly7761 I almost got hit by lightning going to the mailbox one day while visiting Alabama!
I think she should go brunette like her sister.
She seriously needs to be brunette
Getting married at a plantation is a big YIKE for me
not even a full YIKE(S) lmbo just a YIKE xD
Yea...... just no. There’s nothing romantic about a place where people were treated worse than animals.
Super yikes.
Well you are not one getting married. Not everyone has to perceive a place that way.
A plantation wedding? JUST DON'T
There are tons of lovely places
That’s what I was thinking 😂😂😭
I was thinking same thing!!! Plantation? who does that and they know history behind?
Actual I know many people that have done plantation weddings and there really cool
There is nothing wrong with a plantation wedding. My ancestors were slaves, but I find plantation weddings to be so beautiful. I see them everywhere in my home state of GA. It has bad history, but the land is gorgeous tbh.
@J Fl Not all plantation owners were abusive?! Lmaoooo. And yet they were still okay with enslaving people of color. Bye.
She should’ve showed examples
I agred with you Jenna
The dad nearly made me cry! I was really struggling to control the tears! 😭such a sweet line! And how he cried!
The way that second girl looked was so beautiful 😍 and when she said she just wanted her husband to see her and remember the girl she was when they met pulled on my heart strings😢❤️
It is so disrespectful to have a wedding in a PLANTATION
I am a northerner. The first time I heard “bless your heart” I had no idea and it was an insult. If I knew, I would have given that mean old lady a good old Yankee one back LOL
The term depends heavily on tone and context. In this case, she meant exactly what she said.
I left aa soon as my contract was up.
people who get married at plantations makes me question a lot about them
Literally. How can you celebrate some where in which so much horror took place
I don't think the bride even knows what Southern Chic is, because I don't think it's a plantation...
The second bride looked fabulous in the dress. It framed her face and shoulders with her pretty hair she was glowing- angelic sophisticated pretty. The first bride found the perfect dress. The process was beautiful to watch. She is going to be forever happy with how pretty she looked.
Both brides were beautiful! It is so good to see a plus sized bride. Very good episode!
How can people get married at a plantation? Knowing what took place there, I just don't understand it.
How can people continue to vote for Democrats knowing that they voted against women's right to vote, Civil Rights Amendment, introduced Jum Crow laws?
The plantation is just land.
Good grief.
BRIDE: barely out of her teens
DRAWL: thicker than molasses
VENUE: southern plantation
this show should be called SYTTD Antebellum lol
Do they have dresses like these coz there's a demand for these styles in that region OR they just have.... bad taste?
This episode is probably 10 years old, so there's that
@J Fl I'm agreeing you both
@@poponachtschnecke oh ..now it makes sense. Thanks!
@J Fl I agree with you. It was just my personal opinion.
The second bride when she put the dress on all my gosh I started to cry she looks so beautiful God bless
Why is no one talking about how she’s getting married on a plantation??? I know it’s the south but damm, I’d hope people would know better by now. Plantation weddings are distasteful and disrespectful.
Thank you! I thought we had figured this out at a country, don't get married where people were raped, killed and treated like cattle.
Maybe she couldn't afford the plane ticket to get married while storming the capitol so she had to make due with old fashion racism.
for real.... what would possess you to get married there??
Thank you so much for saying that. I was thinking I don't want to come to your wedding thinking about how my great. . Grandmama was sold and killed here
Full stop. People can get married wherever (and to whomever am I right?) that they want. It's a certain style of house. Period.
Anyone else catch that she's getting married at a plantation? I get wanting a venue with historical significance, but a PLANTATION? Yikes!
Ugh, it made me cringe when I heard it.
When people say it’s southern culture is what they said about not abolishing slavery since it was “culture” anyways bye y’all
Not every plantation has to do with slavery some people didn't like slavery then too or believe in it
I’ll never understand why people get married on plantations. Sure they are gorgeous, but the history is disgusting and depressing
They are just glorifying slavery by getting married on plantations

Exactly
I wasn't a fan of Christy's dress, but I'm glad she liked it. I liked Megan's dress, but maybe a different color bow would have looked better. They both were beautiful tho
Christy's dress was awful, she looked like she was telling herself she liked it :(
Plus size wedding dresses are hard to find and options tend to be limited. I ended up making my sisters dress after all the dress shops had kept showing the same style without listening to her wants
@@Faboostic im really glad she liked it! but in my opinion, her dress was so ugly. :( however im aware plus sized dressed tend to be harder to find.
The Guitar score in the background everytime she tries and says 'This is not it' is literally everything
