If you need to let someone into your property but can't or don't want to open the door, one of the best smart locks is important. This is due to the fact that smart locks can be managed using a smartphone, allowing you to remotely lock and unlock your front door.
Giving outsiders virtual access to your door is another "key" function of smart locks that eliminates the risk of someone duplicating your real keys. Additionally, you can set when a virtual key will operate and receive notifications whenever it is used. You can be confident that they can only enter when you want them to if you have a dog walker or caregiver.

You forgot to mention what locks need a cloud subscription to work, which is a rip-off and would probably influence significantly what smart lock I would choose.

I had an August smart lock. I liked it but the batteries would repeatedly drain and it didn't always connect to the wifi. Overall I liked it, but I got tired of constantly changing the batteries and then the sensor fell off the door and then I moved. I'm looking for a new smart lock and will either do that or the Next X Yale but I really hoped they improved the battery usage because getting email notifications that your battery is low a few weeks after replacing them is really frustrating and the batteries weren't cheap. They used the CR123A Lithium batteries
Update: I just looked at August's website and apparently I guess there is an issue with false battery alerts and you need to operate it remotely 3 times when change the new batteries. I never saw that when i had it, maybe I was getting false alarms (and wasting a lot of money on those expensive batteries)

We liked August a couple years ago, but it wasn't compatible with one phone. We've finally changed phones and will try again. The user options to allow access are exactly what we want, and the installation was easy. I was able to walk hubby through the process.

I am on my 2nd August. The first one lasted a couple years then the Bluetooth connection went out. The 2nd one I had a little over a year and something going on with the motor. Says unlocked but I have to lock it back then unlock again to get it to turn all the way. I have calibrated it and same. I tested with door open and same...

This happened to me. Battery died on my Nest x Yale lock. The back up solution failed and I had to call a locksmith at 2am. The lock came preinstalled, otherwise I would never install a smart lock without a physical key. Software can fail. A physical key works every time.

August Home's smart lock is a renter's dream, seamlessly integrating with all smart home systems. Its inconspicuous design makes installation easy and reversible, but frequent battery replacements might add up. Despite minor software glitches, it offers reliable security and flexibility, making renters content.

the locks should work regardless of where you are, assuming both your phone (or whatever device you are using to control the lock) and the lock itself have connection to the internet.

Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even ruclips.net/user/postUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.

Ultraloq sucks. Battery life lasts about 1 month and the 4xAA batteries can easily lose continuity if you slam the door too hard. Also got no warning about low battery. I'm about to return it and I'm looking for a replacement.

4:37 very handy for installing a spy cam overseeing the keypad and bingo Bob Urglar is in. Unless they use an authenticator that changes the code every time it's a huge security risk.

What burglar will actually bother to install a spycam to get your code? 😂 Unless you have some massive mansion making it worth it. I swear people think we live in a spy movie. Burglars irl just break locks, force doors, smash windows or use clever yet primitive tricks to get in.

Unusual Question for the Lock Enthusiasts:
Problem - Relatives have keys to my place for emergency purposes or whatever. I have trust issues and don't want them to access my place while I'm away.
Preferred Solution: Disable key functionality when I am not home. I would like this to be accomplished with a smart lock that has a phone app. Also, I would like to not change the appearance of the keyed deadbolt from the outside. I prefer minimal change in appearance of the turning knob deadbolt on the inside.
    Any ideas??
I've researched many smart locks. I've presented the companies with the specific scenario. Companies have told me this is a good idea for a feature, but no one that I've talked to could help.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
