Maybe people would take video game addiction seriously if it wasn't for "the boy who cried wolf" surrounding video game addiction for decades. Almost every gamer has an experience of being screamed at for playing video games for too long as soon as they start playing whether it's from parents or romantic partner. People can get addicted to playing video games but after forty years of telling every person who ever plays a video game that they have an addiction....why would a person who truly has an addiction believe someone? The writer's husband hasn't suffered any negative consequences from his video game addiction...why would he ever believe he's addicted?
