  • Client has been contemplating surgery because of ankle & foot pain preventing her from doing what she loves, climbing, running, activities. Here you can see even with just focused bodywork & massage, we can improve the range of motion through soft tissue work and improving her patterns via strength. All of that would be more successful the more she does it. Quite often when we see improvements this fast, the outcome looks good. The challenge is getting the client to do the exercises and getting them to commit to coming more often, multiple times a week if necessary. Would be great to get her back on and see what we can do. This was filmed back in april i believe.

    Helpful! So clients with more internal rotation need strength in the vastus lateralis tibialis posterior region. Then clients with more external rotation need strength in the tibialis anterior adductor region. In general. I've been trying to help all my clients with this and have been uncertain.

    Hey there, thanks so much for the video. I can say I'm quite lucky you posted this since 1 week ago I sprained my right ankle, it's getting better but the progress is slow since I'm highly mobile all day long so it probably does not help much and I still feel tightness around the ankle. Your massage technique helps loosen it enough and increase the mobility.
    I need some advice though, I still feel some pain and tenderness around the dorsal area, especially on digiti 3-5, kinda also feel the strain and tightness pulling from lateral ankle especially when I do dorsal flexion and inversion ( I also felt it when I try squatting, i cannot do a perfect squat on the right ankle), there is tenderness around the lateral malleolus, it's also still swollen abit, kinda suspect some kind of injury to the peroneus muscle. Can the massage you demonstrate here helps loosen this tighness or I also need to massage the area around the dorsal pedis and ankle to loosen it up. And what kind of exercise do you recommend to help loosen it up? I'd really appreciate it if you could help me abit since it's really troubling me when I'm need to be on my feet all day

      Hey Florence, sorry to hear the troubles. 1 week is still pretty early, be patient. What i would try since the pain is on top of foot, use a lacrosse ball or tennis ball to massage the bottom of the foot. Explore all parts of the arch, inside, outside, forefoot. Use the ball while standing to slowly apply consistent from increasing pressure to the bottom areas of your foot. I would suggest to go as deep as you are able to relax and not tense up. You can do this anywhere from a few minutes to 30mins. Then i would suggest rolling your calf, using a foam roller or any tool you have. Think of the bottom of the foot being not able to support itself so maybe rolling the glut/hip with a ball to help support the foot, as it does this already. Moving the ankle in all directions as long as there is no pain may be good. I'll try to make a video on this .good luck

    Can massage help with shin splints or is rest, anti-inflammatory meds and cooling the way to go?

    • @ShadlesTable
      @ShadlesTable  2 года назад +2

      Bodywork can help absolutely or resolve them. Certainly all massage isn't created equal as you've seen from my work. Most likely its a weakness issue, most pain=weakness. That's why so many people as they get older are in pain, we are getting weaker unless you are working on preventing that. Check out @TheKneesovertoesguy his stuff should help. you need to strengthen your shin, feet and calves. Try rolling your feet, calf and shin and then strengthening them in that order, roll then strengthen. ITs most likely more than this but this will get you going.

      @@ShadlesTable Thanks a lot for the advice! I checked out Kneesovertoesguy and was able to figure out what I was doing incorrectly. If this ends up solving my issue, it'll be huge.
