The answer to every question of “Why don’t they put X and Y together?” is, “Because the license holders won’t allow it.” License holders are more worried about the longevity of the reputation of their brand than making a couple grand for a few years. Restoration has said that the Bruce Lee estate was very strict about having a “worthy opponent” for Bruce to be re-released with.
That makes sense. It wouldn't be worth it for them to ruin the value of their license. Is there a reason they allowed Bruce Lee to be sold without an opponent initially or was that more on Restoration Games?
@@NachoAverageTableTop I’m not sure, but it may have been exactly because they were worried about associating him with anyone else. I do know that the early IP licenses were handled by Mondo before they went under. Mondo already had a license for Bruce Lee when Unmatched started, so it probably only allowed for solo merch.
Very excited for Battle of Legends 3. When I think of fighters I'd want to add to the official roster, I always get stuck with existing IPs (Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Robocop, Magic: The Gathering, etc). The Battle of Legends 2 box surprised me with lots of fighters I would have never expected (Yennenga, Bloody Mary, and Sun Wukong notably). Maybe this upcoming box will have something like The Three Musketeers?
Yeah it seems like the ones I am always hoping for are IPs as well which makes it much tougher to hope for. The Three Musketeers would be a lot of fun!
What is your opinion about the Slings and Arrows Unmatched? Shakespeare themed IIRC. I'd watch a new Unmatched tournament, that used previously unchosen characters. Get some of those new sets to the table.
I have really enjoyed Shakespeare and The Wayward Sisters from that set. I have only gotten to play against the other ones. It is fun for Shakespeare to try to hit the correct amount of syllables in played cards and the Wayware Sister's bonuses are fun to get especially since it seems a bit easier to set yourself up for it than other decks that are a little more specific like Lil' Red.
Wow guys…. Never connected with TMNT? I guess y’all are young… 80’s/90’s comic books and animated show- thats even the style. And Restoration can totally dig into their differing fighting style and/or personalities. Each turtle is way different and I totally see this theme in Unmatched- it will actually make we want to play a 4 player coop.😊
Bit of a waste of time this. A few mins of research into some of these characters would have provoked a bit more interesting dialogue. The lore behind the characters in the Witcher is very deep and interesting.
That is fair! We will look into the characters a bit more if we don't know anything about them next time. Sometimes we just like to chat with each other about recent news on something versus digging deep into it, but I can see how that isn't helpful. Thanks for watching and the feedback though!
