- Today’s showdown is epic - our old faithful 150-ton press vs. the new beast, a whopping 300-ton machine. We’re putting them to the test, crushing the same stuff side by side to see how they compare. Kicking things off with a solid steel pipe, because why not?

If you haven't thought about it mount the lighting to the walls with adjustable arms. would be nice to not have several tripods for lighting and camera everywhere.

Have you considered building into the window frames a channel in which you can drop a panel of 1/4" thick clear optical-grade polycarbonate? These panels will protect the very expensive windows from hard flying debris, and will be fairly inexpensive to replace as they become damaged. We love your channel!
That would be a good idea. . because one hit and 500€ down the drain.
That's a great idea
- despite the glass being bullet poof, it still only takes a small hit to crack the outer layer (which looks terrible and obstruct the view)
- then he just have to pay another 500 euro for a new one, to get clear view again.
Also if the concrete walls are painted white they will reflect more light and be a lot easier to clean after the food pressings.
If you need to protect your 500€ glass, you don't need a 500€ glass..
@@hundredfireify It doesn't take much to damage bullet resistant glass. You don't want to have to replace it every time you get a chip or crack in it.
The year is 2050. The Hydraulic Press Channel now has 1 billion subscribers. Lauri just finished setting up the "Super-Duper Planet Crusher 5,000,000", a custom-made hydraulic press with 10,000 tonnes of maximum force. The bunker is now made of 30cm of AR500 steel, with a full 10 meters of reinforced concrete behind it. You watch as he prepares to crush an entire Russian BMP filled with nitroglycerine, while filming it at 10,000,000 frames per second at 16k resolution with a 360° high-speed camera. Life is good.

10,000 tonnes? USA has two presses one at 50,000 tonne, one at 60,000. Google search has one rated at 100,000 tonnes. If we're talking 2050 at HPC and their "Go Big or Crush It" motto - they would need a 1,000,000 tonne press. At those pressures just about any materials used under them would need to be treated as as a fluid in some manner.

You should still use sacrificial plastic window in front of your expensive bulletproof windows to keep them from getting all "smudged up" from shrapnel bouncing off of them!
I will have 8mm polycarbonate there. Otherwise the first glass layer would crack pretty fast

I think this new press isn't just more powerful, it's smoother. I believe that the weaker old press would induce some struggle vibrations or stress fractures in some of the materials you were crushing with for. This new press seems more continuous in its delivery, and it will be interesting to see how that expresses itself.

To reduce the echo you can hang curtains along one wall, or another option is to bolt wooden battens to the wall at 20-30cm intervals that disrupts the sound reflections
The echo removal panels arrived yesterday. They should do the trick + they look really cool ;D
wonder if a thick loose curtain (or rug) hung near the wall will help stop flying debris and protect the concrete from damage.
New press is terrifying. I love it. Still, there's something nostalgic about the old one. I can't wait to see what new content you have cooked up for us.

I will say it again: I love these pump sounds! It adds so much to the real experience of HPC.
You should put cheaper PC plate or laminated glass to protect your expensive windows. While they are bulletproof and don't let anything through, they get damaged quite easily.

30 years ago I was a crane operator in a steel roll forming factory and I used to crush surplus metal barrels with 12,000 pound coils of steel and they would collapse in on themselves like your pipes did. Getting firewood and kindling is a breeze for you now !.
I love to see stuff being set up properly and safe. Ofc this doesnt replace safe behaviour and procedures like you probably already had but that overkill bunker makes it look so much more professional.

It’s amazing to think back on the beginnings of this channel and how far they have come. I remember a time when they clearly struggled to think of a trajectory needed for the future of the channel and the content I saw. It’s really good to see how well they are doing!

Take 0,5 liter vodka put it blender and add bag of Fazer Turkish peper salmiak. Mix until no hard bits left. Enjoy .(Using stronger alcohol you got stronger mix ofcourse).

after 8 years I have pretty good picture what would make videos perfect and luckily we have also money and great business partners to make this happen. It's been long way to here but I am now really hyped about getting this perfect setup built

There seems to be quite some movement (from left to right, best seen in the wood logs) in the shaft when you are pressing with the new press. The old press had way less movement (visible on camera at least).

The machine is on bit uneven floor. I have to level it out. Now its swinging on its place

When you crush the toilet paper it looks like andle grinder disks! You should crush a variety of things and see how well each thing works on an angle grinder 😁
We have already tried it on Beyond the press channel
Paint the walls white so the LED lights reflect on them and make the chamber even brighter for the slow mo cameras.
I'd say a matt white to avoid any extra reflective spots/to get a more even spread and not have to deal with bright spots
The bunker is fantastic, and its awesome that you guys are able to build it!!
But nothing will replace those green panels with the electric signs as background.

Do you use that crushed wood in your fireplace? Is it good kindling?
Is there a way I can modify or add a pressure gauge to the 20T Harbor Freight press? It makes me pucker leaning on it!
We use to stack pennies on the train rails, out of the probably thousand times we did it, we only had them stick together like what you done two or three times. I think the vibration knocked them off, or we just couldn't find them after. But that is very cool what you done and to be able to watch it happen.
Yeah, I lived next to train tracks as a kid. Needless to say, we put a LOT of stuff on the tracks. We would tape the coins down when we stacked them. Made recovery a little easier. Pennies would stick together pretty well,nothing else would though.
Is there going to be a sacrificial layer on the windows so you can replace it after it gets scratches or cracks?
