A few years ago she did the 'sound-joined rooms ' at the 'singuhr gallery' in Berlin. Thus I had the extreme(!) pleasure to spend a few days with her, exploring the soundscape of that almost ruined church and it's surroundings using her music as a scout. And then, during the breaks of her performance, we were talking about John Cage, particle accelerators, Björk and Laurie Anderson.
Such a pity that she has passed away in 2009.

Often categorized as experimental music, but this incredible experience goes beyond experimentation. This is far one of the most striking pieces of music i ever heard and experienced.

Decades ago, I had the rare privilege to help Amacher lug her equipment and help her set up a performance. The performance required my full body, just not only ears. How can we create permanent installations of her work? I have heard riotous stories about her, including her skill at sneaking into movie houses and so avoiding admission. Hoping someone has recorded those tales.

So I've been reading in a bunch of comments that the combination tones don't work with headphones, which is not surprising, but I gotta say, with headphones this is morbidly creepy. As a piece of noise art, it has some real effect.

If you have the image small enough that the centres are separated by same amount as your pupils (typically 57mm or so) then get as close to it as you can focus comfortably. Now try to fool your eyes into looking through the screen to infinity.
Once you’re getting close to persuading your eye to do this you’ll notice a third central image appears, concentrate on that and you’ll see it has depth.
The trick is easier to pull off if you can get the screen close to your eyes, so short-sighted people have an advantage. For those with normal vision, a pair of strong reading spectacles may help.

you should watch the video Adam Neely made, it explains a lot about the construction of the audio, and stuff about how she can manipulate the human ear into creating sounds just by using certain frequencies. It's crazy stuff. Don't get me wrong, I would never listen to this in my free time, but she is truly an experimental musician, but more of a scientist in my opinion.
