I saw your thumbnail for the video today while I was out working...which I thought was a killer thumbnail by the way...and had to get home and get some Vic time. That is a well thought out set up! Going to check it out some more. Hope you are doing well and thanks again for the content! 😊😁
Looks good. Something I spotted in your video: it seems that the extendable handle has a 1/4" thread too at the bottom. That means it could be mounted on the tripod to extend it and to have a little bit higher tripod.
Something no one seems to be talking about is combination of cage + filters + external magsafe ssd (+cooler fan)... which i think would be a complete system, especially for those doing video in hot sunny weather.
Hi, I’m new to filming and I’m currently trying to build a rig to film outdoor sports videography on my iPhone 16 pro max. I am planning on purchasing everything in this video and I will be shooting 4k 60-120fps in log into an ssd connected to the cage. I will also be connecting a rode videomic and periodically, rode wireless mics. Not sure yet if I will be using the native iPhone video app or a 3rd party app such as blackmagic and filmic pro. With all of this running at once I am worried about overheated in the Texas heat. Any advice?
@jefferygriffith7473 best of luck. Heat will always be an issue to be honest. Software wise filmicpro is a non runner for many these days. But Blackmagic is superb and the Final Cut camera app from Apple is also great. Not as much functionality but definitely great.
Thanks , as always , for the video . Have you tried the Titla Khronos? We’d love to know what you think of that. The killer feature (I think) of that may be the fan module for our overheating phone. Also arca Swiss usb hubs. Also POWER delivery through the cage . We wonder how soon all these companies will have to iPhone 16 pro max cages. - Eric ZORK Alan & Sweetie [ 🤣Professional🤣Poets & Bed 🛏️ & Beer🍺 Vloggers ]
@@VicBarry I just won one from RUclipsr directorhenley , but I can’t actually try USING it until Tilta comes out with a cage for the iPhone 16 Pro Max which will be my phone as of Friday. I’m hoping they release the cage soon. I’m a bit worried about the ecosystem though because there is sooooooo little coverage of it. That I why I hope you might cover it soon. Tilta (I thought) was a big company. But this is almost an invisible produce after 6 months. very weird. Hopefully they send one to you to look at. We’d love to hear your comments and criticisms. As always, Vic, a great video. If I’m honest mate, I’ve stopped buying this type of stuff because I change my phone too often and it’s just a complete waste of money. When they solve an ecosystem they can deal with the changing iPhones every year then great.
Hey 👋 cheers. Yeah. That’s a fair point. I tend to stick to the same model year on year so unless they change the size it’s not really an issue but totally get the point.
Great video! Could you please tell me if the rotating handles turn fairly tightly? I’m concerned that if several items are attached to the case, the phone might rotate under the weight. Is the build quality okay?
Thanks for the vid. 👍 Any idea if the Freewell anamorphic lenses can mount on this cage? On amazon it says that it only works with the Freewell Sherpa series cases, but I just find it weird that it wouldn't work with this cage since it's the same brand
It’s a pity you haven’t added Polish subtitles so that the video could be translated. I understand English, but many of my friends don’t, and they would like to watch your videos on RUclips.
@@VicBarry I took the plunge and got the Genius Rig Mega Kit with all the filters and lenses. Seems like a steal for $799 USD for what you get with it.
You all have it wrong, I’m sorry. Caging up your phone like this takes away from the phone it’s major quality: portability and quick access. Using all this rig makes it uncomfortable and does not make that much from your video quality. Also, it still does not solve some of the problems like connecting, at the same time, a ssd and a mic. I advise all of you to look at a company called quip design and see what are they doing. They are making of the iphone a proper video machine without loosing the major qualities.
But why limit this to just the iPhone, there are other phones out there which are just as good, if not better than the iPhone so why not make one for the Samsung S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra. Oh sorry, I forgot, most US companies don't think there is anything other than Apple devices.

Good tip!
It looks ridiculous and I love it!!!!! The yellow design reminds me of Corridor Crew. lol
lol - It’s pretty cool to be fair

What is the default mount plate that comes with it? I assume M series since they have the 17mm and T-Series plates for sale additionally.

Great piece of kit, well explained. Shame I have an S23

Does it fit with iPhone 11 ??
I want the cage to be my phone case

What about VND filters? Is there one that can slide over the lens plate?
Hey 👋 not over the lens plate but the lens I used here has a thread so you could use that with the correct size filters

Hi Vic, I wonder. Can I use this rig with my iphone 15 (non pro)? Also, can I add a wireless mic (usb-c) to my iphone with this rig? Thank you, Frans.

@neiltuppeny6910 read the description. It’s for other phones as well
@@VicBarryI was referring to the quip design cage not the Freewell rig. I already have the Freewell ecosystem for my current Samsung phone
Nah you’re okay, I preferred Vics review, thanks though 👍
What was the name of that last rig by Brandon. ??someone?? You said it's slimmer ?? Where can I take a look at that one ???
Hey it’s here Brandon Li's iPhone 15 Pro Max Cage with SmallRig is ALMOST PERFECT!
