As much as I love Haldir, I also dislike that they cut this scene (and many others) because it took out some character development of Boromir that showed him to be a better person than what was portrayed in the theatrical version :( He wasn't just some jerk who wanted the ring!
cool I will have to rent it on DVD. I first saw it on VHS and I have it on VCR cassettes. But they do not add the deleted scenes. Thank you for responding. It is my all time favorit movie.
Haldir is the most posh elf of them all. Even more so than Galadriel, Celeborn and Elrond. Hell, more posh than English queen! Such a damn charming arrogance. An ultimate elf.
Until I watched this movie in HD, I never noticed the elf crouching on the talan next to the Fellowship, and when I did notice for some reason I got all excited. Maybe its cuz we never see the elves do anything except stand and look super serious most of the time, but I like the image of the elf crouching and looking down below. Makes him seems cat-like and ready to pounce.
I adore this scene, though I also don't agree with having Aragorn deal with Haldir. Legolas is the elf of the Fellowship, and in the book it was him who greets Haldir and his brothers. :/ Nonetheless, Craig is freaking amazing in this scene, I love his voice.
*squeals* oh i love you for this, forso long iv tried to find this scene and couldnt. only after my LOTR absession died that i find it. your bringing it back and i love you for it! thank you!
It's that one line from Boromir, that really makes me sad for him, I think that was the last time we saw the real Boromir, until he gave his life defending the Hobbits.
lol when they were all gathered around the fellowship if i were legolas i would been "yo whut up im an elf" its funny cause then in the next scene haldir is like "yeah sorry we almost shot you with arrows" lol
I comletely agree! It's like those who aren't real fans of lotr dislike the elves but I like them because their appearance is deceiving but they are alose quite dangerous and experienced-very good at fighting too.
I think that was one of the first scenes they ever filmed of Legolas, and they still hadn't decided on his final costume at that point. They were hoping people wouldn't notice, hehe. :p
Orlando and Craig are equally gorgeous in my opinion. But I think Haldir looks better than Leggie because his eyes are actually are that pretty in real life.
One reason is that, in the book the hobbit (wrote before LOTR) the dwarves of the lonly mountain, were allies with the elves of greenwood, now known as mirkwood, where legolas, and his father king thranduil come from, and when the dragon attacked the dwarven kingdom, King thranduil refused to aid them
1:22 to 1:26, he's crouching/squatting on the talan right in front of the Fellowship, directly in the middle of the screen, between Legolas and one of the hobbits.
@Sanriko True...I think Boromir was portrayed worst of all the Fellowship. In the book he proves far to many times that he is indeed a brave and strong man, the cares for his honor and the honor of his people. The scene where he tries to steal the ring is just a moment of weakness, for which he will repent later, giving his life for Merry and Pip. One of the bravest characters in LOTR..
... So this first outfit was like, you can imagine, the beginning of filming, there's so many characters to establish and so many different costumes that it kind of got down to the last minute and we hadn't quite locked down what exactly what I was going to wear, the look of it....
LOTHLORIEN ORLANDO: "We were trying to get the look right for Legolas, and I'd been working with Nyla on the costume and we'd been discussing colours and the great thing about working on this project is that it was a collaborative effort and you really felt like you had a part in the process which was great....
I am pleased to inform you that you're wrong :) He is pointing his bow at one of the elves of Lothlórien. You can see because an arrow is pointed at his head. Hope I helped :)
... So it's quite amusing to see this scene back in the film because this costume was just not what I was wearing for the rest of the whole movie. I had one day in it and we decided to go for a more tailored look, more put together in that way, this just didn't work."
Ahh i see so thats why. in the film the hobbit after smaug attacked erebor the elves were just watching as the dwarves flee their homeland. I dont know the reason why they didnt come to their aid.
As much as I love Haldir, I also dislike that they cut this scene (and many others) because it took out some character development of Boromir that showed him to be a better person than what was portrayed in the theatrical version :(
He wasn't just some jerk who wanted the ring!
those woods look amazing. i'd love to find it and just walk around, with a bow and arrow of course lol
The best film! Thanks!!!!

Ah so happy to call the SEE Bluray my own (my precious). Looking forward to the holidays.
Gimli:And you know what this Dwarf says to that? Ishkhaqwi ai durugnul! (I spit upon your grave!)
Aragon:That was not so courteous.
Haha that's the same thing Thorin says in the hobbit 2
I could not stop grinning. I actually had to pause the video several times in order to squee.

Haldir is my favourite ❤❤
He is so beautiful ,,, how he looked, his voice ... beautiful
*squeals* oh i love you for this, forso long iv tried to find this scene and couldnt. only after my LOTR absession died that i find it. your bringing it back and i love you for it! thank you!

I love the sound of his voice, most of all at 1:35 and 2:12. :)
according to LOTR wiki, that is Haldir's brother, Rumil.
I think that was one of the first scenes they ever filmed of Legolas, and they still hadn't decided on his final costume at that point. They were hoping people wouldn't notice, hehe. :p
Haldir is the only elf I will ever fancy... I'm more of a dwarf lover XD
3 people spoke so loud and got shot in the dark
@PinkTastic101 there are 4 main elvish languages and yes dwarves do have a language of their own
It is Sindarin. :) Beautiful language.
Orlando and Craig are equally gorgeous in my opinion. But I think Haldir looks better than Leggie because his eyes are actually are that pretty in real life.
I forgot about what Boromir says to Frodo at the end of this clip. Touching.
One reason is that, in the book the hobbit (wrote before LOTR) the dwarves of the lonly mountain, were allies with the elves of greenwood, now known as mirkwood, where legolas, and his father king thranduil come from, and when the dragon attacked the dwarven kingdom, King thranduil refused to aid them
Lothlórien. Definitely.
was this a cut scene? I watched all the movies of the lord of the rings and I did not see this scene at all.
gimli looks sooo wierd without his helmet on.
Lothlorien, close to Haldir....;-)
an Elf cannot die of age, but you can still kill them.

Gimli: Ishkhaqwi ai durugnul
Español: "Maldigo sobre vuestros cuellos"
English: "Curse on your necks"
Darken Rahl disguised as an elf! Nothing to worry about though, the Seeker'll find him anyway. XD

They are speaking elvish and I think it is Sindarin...I might be wrong though :/
It goes back to ancient times when the dwarves an elves were created by the valar. Check it out on the LOTR wiki :)
Magic ........
1:17 OWNED!
Ok, as a fantasy, where would you live - Lothlorien or Rivendell?
LOTHLORIEN
ORLANDO: "We were trying to get the look right for Legolas, and I'd been working with Nyla on the costume and we'd been discussing colours and the great thing about working on this project is that it was a collaborative effort and you really felt like you had a part in the process which was great....
I love Haldir, sucks he was killed off in the second movie
Haldir is so hawt :)
I am pleased to inform you that you're wrong :)
He is pointing his bow at one of the elves of Lothlórien. You can see because an arrow is pointed at his head.
Hope I helped :)
I want to go to there
... So it's quite amusing to see this scene back in the film because this costume was just not what I was wearing for the rest of the whole movie. I had one day in it and we decided to go for a more tailored look, more put together in that way, this just didn't work."
I know! I haven't been able to find any translations on the Web. ;p
Can somebody tell me why the dwarves distrust the elves?
There was a long standing rivalry between the elves and dwarves.
2:16 Haldir did not say that in the book, and he's in the wrong place. He was in a tree.
k so i never got this it looks like Legolas is pointing his bow at the Fellowship along with the woody elves please tell me i'm wrong
1:17 Look to the left of Haldir, is that a Female Elf or just a very Feminine looking guy?
Guy. Is it Haldir's brother?
Does Legolas wear other clothes in 1:35?
haldir had it coming >_>
when does the scene frm 1:40 comes in the movie? i cant seem to find it-_-
Ahh i see so thats why. in the film the hobbit after smaug attacked erebor the elves were just watching as the dwarves flee their homeland. I dont know the reason why they didnt come to their aid.
1:54
Gimli says "I don't give a shit"
anyone know what gimli said?
An interesting way to insult an immortal being...
este es mi bosque :)
doesn't matter, it's still called immortal
There were a lot of reasons of why I we didn't help them. Its more complicated than it seems really...
Grammar mistake, I know. I meant to say just we. Don't judge, you aren't perfect either.
Nuuh... Its
''Frodo, You're comming to close, it is the footesteps of doom! You bring great evil here, ring-bearer.''
where did Legolas run at??
What did Gimli say?
fail, cant read the subtitles
dwarfs > elfs .
Is this in the extended version?
In the beginning at 0:02-0:03.
Video with readable subtitles: ruclips.net/video/iR_1wJctnsk/видео.html
8 people were shot in the dark
Reason = Very big dragon
Aha okay, thanks
I thought gimli said "i shit on your grave!"
"I spit on your grave."
I´m perfect too, and you can´t say nothing about my wife she is mine only
:(
Fucking elves.
Some might like to be.
Lll
I think you are cute
Haldir... the Gay Elf
